Hampson, Te Kanawa, Upshaw, Furlanetto, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Levine: Mozart: Le Nozze Di Figaro   Comment by PhilMH

Full release date from US Copyright Office.

Hampson, Te Kanawa, Upshaw, Furlanetto, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Levine: Mozart: Le Nozze Di Figaro   Comment by Magic Marmalade

Yes, I've had a CD or two for classical world like this.... unfortunately, the limitations of the site format mean we can't sub-divide tracks (This is one area I think discogs has a better method). So long as you get the track position on the disc right, even if you have to...

Hampson, Te Kanawa, Upshaw, Furlanetto, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Levine: Mozart: Le Nozze Di Figaro   Comment by LaurenceD

Looking at the track listings, scans of which I have included, it appears that the tracks on these discs have sub-track indices. But I cannot be sure as none of my current CD players display those sub-track numbers. My first (Sony) CD player did display them, but that one was put out to pasture long ago.

John Tavener, BT Scottish Ensemble: Tears Of The Angels   Comment by gregs78s

Understood,thanks MM.

John Tavener, BT Scottish Ensemble: Tears Of The Angels   Comment by Magic Marmalade

No HDCD option for this world unfortunately (yet), so have put it in notes.

Orchestre National De La Radiodiffusion Française (French National Radio Orchestra): Concerto In D Major, Op. 61   Comment by Magic Marmalade

This is certainly on my wants list, as the only Oistrakh I have is a David and Igor Deutsche Grammophon of Benda's two violins and a piano, which I regularly listen to... so a Columiba SAX of both or either Oistrakh performances - any labels - will feature very highly on my...

Orchestre National De La Radiodiffusion Française (French National Radio Orchestra): Concerto In D Major, Op. 61   Comment by PhilMH

Hi MM, I too was puzzled by the 1965 date, unless this was deleted and reissued sometime between those two years, and whoever did the label copy for the 1965 red label issue didn't understand the concept of "recording first published"? Anyway, there are original stereo...

Orchestre National De La Radiodiffusion Française (French National Radio Orchestra): Concerto In D Major, Op. 61   Comment by Magic Marmalade

Just done a little digging on popsike and ebay, and it does indeed exist with silver / blue labels, although these have no date on the labels, but this still places this issue more on the 1960 range... so I'd be confident in changing the date to 1960, what with the...

Orchestre National De La Radiodiffusion Française (French National Radio Orchestra): Concerto In D Major, Op. 61   Comment by Magic Marmalade

I don't understand how they could put a 1965 date on something released in 1960? ...I can see how a 1960 date could be on a 1965 issue, but the other way around? That means this wasn't legally covered by copyright and patent for five years so a simple mistake on Columbia's...

Orchestre National De La Radiodiffusion Française (French National Radio Orchestra): Concerto In D Major, Op. 61   Comment by PhilMH

Although the labels say (P) 1965, this album under this catalogue number (and its mono equivalent) were first released on April 8th, 1960, as the uploaded front cover of the April 1965 Gramophone shows. Correction will be requested. EDIT: corrected typo from=>front

Taverner Consort, Choir And Players, Andrew Parrott: Music For Christmas   Comment by Gill Sans

Thanks for that. "Associate Director of the Taverner Consort And Choir" is high position indeed.

Taverner Consort, Choir And Players, Andrew Parrott: Music For Christmas   Comment by doormanperdomo

Altogether more recent - this is he.

Sir John Barbirolli Conducting The Hallé Orchestra: Bizet "L'Arlésienne", Tchaikovsky "The Swan Lake" Ballet Suite   Comment by PhilMH

Probably 1952 for this; an HMV ad in the December 1952 issue of Gramophone includes Schnabel's Schubert Piano Impromptus, catalogue number BLP 1007.

Stockport Symphony Orchestra: Grieg Piano Concerto, Mendelssohn Violin Concerto   Comment by Gill Sans

Stockport Symphony Orchestra perform eight concerts each season, with guest conductors and soloists. The forthcoming concert on the 7th of October will be their 40th Anniversary concert. http://stockportsymphony.co.uk/
