I've been collecting vinyl and tape since about 1970, and I'll buy pretty much anything that looks interesting or unusual.
I started buying 78s in the 1990s (after acquiring a collection), and especially enjoy releases from the 1930s, including blues, jazz and hillbilly.

LaurenceD 11th Jun 2017		78 RPM Dick Thomas - Broken Heart / You Never Loved Me	Set the release date of this one (and 5002) to August 1944, based on the Billboard reviews and the July article on the launching of National records. Praguefrank lists the release dates as April 1, which cannot be correct; on the same page he dates the recording session as "Summer 1944 New York City".
LaurenceD 29th May 2017		Vinyl Album Caroliner Rainbow Stewed Angel Skins - I'm Armed With Qts. Of Blood	For those unfamiliar with Caroliner, this release (their second) probably requires some explanation. The group used a different variant of their name for each release. The identities of the group members have never been disclosed to my knowledge. The album sleeves were assembled and painted by hand, in batches of 1000 if I remember correctly. The cover paint on this particular copy contains all sorts of debris imbedded within, with bits and pieces falling off as one handles it. I left that sticker on the back because I couldn't be sure that it was not part of the original artwork! I confirmed the running order of the tracks by listening and comparing with the enclosed lyrics, although to be honest most of the words as sung are just barely decipherable.

LaurenceD 14th May 2017		Vinyl Album Small Faces - Small Faces	Note that the track listings for this entry are correct as far as the actual playing order on the disc. The listings for B2 and B5 are incorrectly transposed on the cover and label.
LaurenceD 14th May 2017		Vinyl Album Andre Kostelanetz With Johnny Cash - The Lure Of The Grand Canyon	The sound effects, which were recorded at the Grand Canyon, do not really intrude upon the integrity of the suite, but are inserted between movements and then repeated during Johnny Cash's narrated track. Not a bad rendition of Grofé's suite; I'd like to hear a stereo copy.
