5 Trees You Wont Believe Exist!
Description:
1. Chapel Oak
Those guys who lived in the 1600s were not without a sense of creativity. Behold the 800-year-old Le Chene Chapel or the Chapel Oak if you like. Located in Allouivlle-Bellefosse, France, this tree was carved out in the 1600s to house two chapels with its enormous trunk. This was after lighting struck and burned the core of the tree. The tree survived and remained standing, allowing the local priests to build their own chapel. The tree is beginning to act its age and requires supporting struts to hold it up. This has not stopped it from being used for mass twice in a year. In case you were wondering, there is a stair case which winds around the trunk to reach the upper part of the chapels. Cool huh?
2. Wawona ‘Drive-Through’ Tree
This tree was huge and was the most famous among all trees in the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National park, California. It stood at an incredible height of 227 feet and guess what, you could drive through it! It was initially 90 feet in circumference and when it sustained a fire scare, a hole big enough to drive through had to be cut at its base, hence its name ‘drive-through’. Unfortunately, it fell in 1969 under an estimated two-ton load of snow. It was 2300 years old.
3. Rainbow Eucalyptus
The Rainbow Eucalyptus’s bark is so brightly colored such that you may mistake yourself in an Alice in Wonderland cartoon. Native to the Philippines, the tree sheds the outer layer of its bark often to expose new green bark underneath. As the bark ages, it goes through several color changes from green to blue, to purple, to orange and finally brown before shedding. The bark sheds in irregular patches and three displays a collection of all these colors at once giving a kaleidoscope effect. They can be grown in any place that does not experience frost, but in the Philippines, they are mainly cultivated for use in paper manufacture.
4. The Boab Prison Tree
Found outside the town of Derby in Western Australia, the boab prison tree is named so because its stout trunk of 14 cm has been cut to form a small cell used as a prison. Creative, right? Police walking their prisoners to town would use the tree as a temporary holding cell overnight before carrying on to their final destination. The tree is 1500 years old and visitors are often asked to see it behind a fence to prevent it from getting damaged. I can tell you that not many of them resist the temptation of moving closer to behold the tree. There’s another tree of comparable size in Wyndham which is equally good but less visited due to its isolation.
5. Sculpted Trees
The first time I saw this one I thought it was an electrocuted human being. Turns out there is a name for how it is formed: arbor sculpture. It is the use of living trees to create a desired shape or structure. Alex Erlandson is considered the greatest of all arbor sculptors and his circus trees are still popular attractions. The trick is to direct the growth of the tree while it is still alive. It is even possible to create unique furniture by harvesting the wood once it takes on the desired form. And yes; your credit card must be loaded to buy such furniture.

17 BIGGEST Trees in the World
This Atlas Cedar in the Foret de Cedar in Northern Morocco is one of the tallest Trees in Africa. The tree has an estimated girth of 3.5 feet and is estimated to be more than 131 feet tall! This tree was planted around 1200-1400 A.D. which makes it at around 7 centuries old.
The Queets River Spruce in Washington state was the largest Spruce Tree in the world. The Queets Spruce has a circumference of 60 feet and is 191 feet tall. It attracted nature enthusiasts and tourists from around the country, but unfortunately fell when a harsh winter storm hit the area in 2007.
This tree is the largest known western redcedar in the entire world. It has a volume of over 18,000 cubic feet and a height of 180 feet when it was last measured. This tree makes its home about 21 miles from the pacific ocean near Quinalt Lake and took the title for tallest tree in the area after the Queets Lake Spruce was felled in a storm.
These odd trees that decorate the plains of Africa are known for their many strange characteristics. The tops of their branches make them look like their roots sprout into the air instead of into the ground, they’re known to be fire resistant and it can last through even the most severe droughts. The Baobabs aren’t just incredibly fascinating alien-like plantlife, they’re also incredibly large, regularly reaching towering 100 foot heights and massive 30 foot diameters.
Near a tiny village hidden in the mountains of central Colombia, the Cocora Valley acts as the residence for the world’s tallest palm trees which also have been recognized as Colombia’s national tree. The Palms in this valley grow more than 200 feet tall, which is strange even to many experts as there is no evolutionary benefit for a tree in an open field to grow so high.
The Tane Mahuta is a giant kauri tree (Agathis australis) in the Waipoua Forest of New Zealand. Tane Mahuta is 58 feet high but has a total volume of 18,250 cubic feet, making it the 4th largest trees when measured by volume in the world. Experts estimate this tree to be between 1,250 and 2,500 years old, so not only is it one of the largest trees, it is also one of the oldest. Tane Mahuta translates to “Lord of the Forest” when translated from Maori, which is more than an appropriate name considering the Tane Mahuta’s size and age.

VicRoads relocated seven trees as part of works for the Clyde Road Upgrade between High Street and Kangan Drive in Berwick.
A truck mounted tree spade is used to dig out the root ball and tree, lifting and tilting each tree onto the back of the truck for safe transportation to its new location. Here is the first Clyde Road tree to make the move.
VicRoads worked with arborists, the City of Casey, National Trust and Residents, Ratepayers and Friends of Berwick Village to identify seven trees that could viably be relocated. (Video December 2011)

Jennifer Lawrence

Tāne Mahuta
Tāne Mahuta is a giant kauri tree (Agathis australis) in the Waipoua Forest of Northland Region, New Zealand. Its age is unknown but is estimated to be between 1,250 and 2,500 years. It is the largest kauri known to stand today. Its Māori name means "Lord of the Forest" (see Tāne), from the name of a god in the Māori pantheon.
The tree is a remnant of the ancient subtropical rainforest that once grew on the North Auckland Peninsula. Other giant kauri are found nearby, notably Te Matua Ngahere. Tāne Mahuta is the most famous tree in New Zealand, along with Te Matua Ngahere. It is thought it was discovered (by Westerners, as it was already known to Maori) and identified in the 1920s when contractors surveyed the present State Highway 12 route through the forest. In 1928 Nicholas Yakas and other bushmen, who were building the road, also identified the tree.
According to the Maori creation myth, Tāne is the son of Ranginui the sky father and Papatuanuku the earth mother. Tāne separates his parents from their marital embrace until his father the sky is high above mother earth. Tāne then sets about clothing his mother with vegetation. The birds and the trees of the forest are regarded as Tāne’s children.

Behold the 800-year-old Le Chene Chapel or the Chapel Oak if you like. Located in Allouivlle-Bellefosse, France, this tree was carved out in the 1600s to house two chapels with its enormous trunk. This was after lighting struck and burned the core of the tree. The tree survived and remained standing, allowing the local priests to build their own chapel. The tree is beginning to act its age and requires supporting struts to hold it up. This has not stopped it from being used for mass twice in a year. VicRoads relocated seven trees as part of works for the Clyde Road Upgrade between High Street and Kangan Drive in Berwick. A truck mounted tree spade is used to dig out the root ball and tree, lifting and tilting each tree onto the back of the truck for safe transportation to its new location. Those guys who lived in the 1600s were not without a sense of creativity. Behold the 800-year-old Le Chene Chapel or the Chapel Oak if you like. Located in Allouivlle-Bellefosse, France, this tree was carved out in the 1600s to house two chapels with its enormous trunk. This was after lighting struck and burned the core of the tree. This Atlas Cedar in the Foret de Cedar in Northern Morocco is one of the tallest Trees in Africa. The tree has an estimated girth of 3.5 feet and is estimated to be more than 131 feet tall! This tree was planted around 1200-1400 A.D. which makes it at around 7 centuries old.
The Queets River Spruce in Washington state was the largest Spruce Tree in the world. The Queets Spruce has a circumference of 60 feet and is 191 feet tall. It attracted nature enthusiasts and tourists from around the country, but unfortunately fell when a harsh winter storm hit the area in 2007.
This tree is the largest known western redcedar in the entire world. It has a volume of over 18,000 cubic feet and a height of 180 feet when it was last measured. This tree makes its home about 21 miles from the pacific ocean near Quinalt Lake and took the title for tallest tree in the area after the Queets Lake Spruce was felled in a storm.
These odd trees that decorate the plains of Africa are known for their many strange characteristics. The tops of their branches make them look like their roots sprout into the air instead of into the ground, they’re known to be fire resistant and it can last through even the most severe droughts. The Baobabs aren’t just incredibly fascinating alien-like plantlife, they’re also incredibly large, regularly reaching towering 100 foot heights and massive 30 foot diameters.
Near a tiny village hidden in the mountains of central Colombia, the Cocora Valley acts as the residence for the world’s tallest palm trees which also have been recognized as Colombia’s national tree. The Palms in this valley grow more than 200 feet tall, which is strange even to many experts as there is no evolutionary benefit for a tree in an open field to grow so high.
The Tane Mahuta is a giant kauri tree (Agathis australis) in the Waipoua Forest of New Zealand. Tane Mahuta is 58 feet high but has a total volume of 18,250 cubic feet, making it the 4th largest trees when measured by volume in the world. Experts estimate this tree to be between 1,250 and 2,500 years old, so not only is it one of the largest trees, it is also one of the oldest. Tane Mahuta translates to “Lord of the Forest” when translated from Maori, which is more than an appropriate name considering the Tane Mahuta’s size and age.

Description:
1. Chapel Oak
Those guys who lived in the 1600s were not without a sense of creativity. Behold the 800-year-old Le Chene Chapel or the Chapel Oak if you like. Located in Allouivlle-Bellefosse, France, this tree was carved out in the 1600s to house two chapels with its enormous trunk. This was after lighting struck and burned the core of the tree. The tree survived and remained standing, allowing the local priests to build their own chapel. The tree is beginning to act its age and requires supporting struts to hold it up. This has not stopped it from being used for mass twice in a year. In case you were wondering, there is a stair case which winds around the trunk to reach the upper part of the chapels. Cool huh?
2. Wawona ‘Drive-Through’ Tree
This tree was huge and was the most famous among all trees in the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite National park, California. It stood at an incredible height of 227 feet and guess what, you could drive through it! It was initially 90 feet in circumference and when it sustained a fire scare, a hole big enough to drive through had to be cut at its base, hence its name ‘drive-through’. Unfortunately, it fell in 1969 under an estimated two-ton load of snow. It was 2300 years old.
3. Rainbow Eucalyptus
The Rainbow Eucalyptus’s bark is so brightly colored such that you may mistake yourself in an Alice in Wonderland cartoon. This Atlas Cedar in the Foret de Cedar in Northern Morocco is one of the tallest Trees in Africa. The tree has an estimated girth of 3.5 feet and is estimated to be more than 131 feet tall! This tree was planted around 1200-1400 A.D. which makes it at around 7 centuries old.
The Queets River Spruce in Washington state was the largest Spruce Tree in the world. The Queets Spruce has a circumference of 60 feet and is 191 feet tall. It attracted nature enthusiasts and tourists from around the country, but unfortunately fell when a harsh winter storm hit the area in 2007.
This tree is the largest known western redcedar in the entire world. It has a volume of over 18,000 cubic feet and a height of 180 feet when it was last measured. This tree makes its home about 21 miles from the pacific ocean near Quinalt Lake and took the title for tallest tree in the area after the Queets Lake Spruce was felled in a storm.
These odd trees that decorate the plains of Africa are known for their many strange characteristics. The tops of their branches make them look like their roots sprout into the air instead of into the ground, they’re known to be fire resistant and it can last through even the most severe droughts. The Baobabs aren’t just incredibly fascinating alien-like plantlife, they’re also incredibly large, regularly reaching towering 100 foot heights and massive 30 foot diameters.
Near a tiny village hidden in the mountains of central Colombia, the Cocora Valley acts as the residence for the world’s tallest palm trees which also have been recognized as Colombia’s national tree. The Palms in this valley grow more than 200 feet tall, which is strange even to many experts as there is no evolutionary benefit for a tree in an open field to grow so high.
The Tane Mahuta is a giant kauri tree (Agathis australis) in the Waipoua Forest of New Zealand. Tane Mahuta is 58 feet high but has a total volume of 18,250 cubic feet, making it the 4th largest trees when measured by volume in the world. Experts estimate this tree to be between 1,250 and 2,500 years old, so not only is it one of the largest trees, it is also one of the oldest. Tane Mahuta translates to “Lord of the Forest” when translated from Maori, which is more than an appropriate name considering the Tane Mahuta’s size and age.

A truck mounted tree spade is used to dig out the root ball and tree, lifting and tilting each tree onto the back of the truck for safe transportation to its new location. Here is the first Clyde Road tree to make the move.
VicRoads worked with arborists, the City of Casey, National Trust and Residents, Ratepayers and Friends of Berwick Village to identify seven trees that could viably be relocated. (Video December 2011)

One of our primary goals with Astroneer is to provide an open-ended gameplay experience that incentivizes creative problem solving. The socket (snap) system is a big part of this desire, and it was specifically designed to facilitate as-of-then unplanned gameplay systems and interactions. With this update, we’re introducing our first new system that leverages that potential: say hello to Augments!
The first 4 Augments available in Astroneer
WHAT ARE THEY?
The short answer is that Augments are items that modify and tune the behavior of the things they’re attached to. While each individual Augment serves a very specific function, when used together, they can yield entirely new gameplay possibilities.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
Augments work like any other item: simply snap one to an object, and if that object can use it, you’ll see the Augment’s Status Light blink on.
For this initial release, we’ve limited the use of Augments to the Deform Tool. You can access the Deform Tool’s slots by clicking it while your backpack is open. This pulls up the tool allowing you to simply drag an Augment onto an available slot.
1 - Open your backpack and Click on the Tool. 2 - Your tool will expand, making it interactive. 3 - Snap your augments to the tool.

Augments are equipped from the top-down. If more than one Augment is attached that modifies the same behavior, only the top-most one will be equipped (as indicated by its Status Light). Once you’re done making changes, you can click the Deform Tool to close it, or simply close your backpack to close them both.
WHAT DO THEY DO?
Now that we know how Augments work, let’s take a look at what they can do. We’ll start with the Terrain Analyzer Augment .
The Terrain Analyzer allows you to analyze a specific type of terrain (indicated by it’s color). This is done by removing the sampled terrain, which will slowly fill a progress meter on the Augment.
As you collect terrain, the analyzer's meter will fill with the colour of terrain you are analyzing.

Once analysis is complete, the Terrain Analyzer has two different effects on the Deform Tool:
1 – When adding terrain, it’s tinted with the sampled color.
2 – When removing terrain, only terrain matching the sampled color is effected.
BETTER TOGETHER
Let’s turn to another Augment, the Inhibitor.
On its own, the Inhibitor simply disables the functionality of the object it’s attached to. In the case of the Deform Tool, it disables the actual deformation process while using the tool. Secondary effects, however, remain fully-functional. These include clearing any non-terrain features (like plants and rocks) and gathering exposed resource deposits when using the Remove Mode. Or, in the case of the Add Mode, terrain tinting.
Which brings us back to the Terrain Analyzer. When the two Augments are combined, you can ‘paint’ the surface of terrain, without deforming it. You can see that being used in the trailer for this update:
While the artists in our midsts are likely rejoicing, there’s a practical utility to this combination as well. You can ‘paint’ a section of terrain in order to single-it-out for other deformation effects, such as surface-clearing (I.E. collecting Organic without collecting the Terrain underneath it) or selective terrain removal. Going forward, we’ll be working to introduce even more situations that will benefit from this level of control.

To state that The Cicada Tree is 'classic Byzantine' in no way implies that this is an album solely rooted in the band's past. Certainly, all of the hallmarks that have made their sound so compelling for close to two decades are present and correct: muscular yet lithe riffs and fluid leads play against gripping, dynamic and at times unpredictable rhythms, while rich melodies and lyrics that are both involved and intelligent wind their way through every track. But, once more, the groove metal unit has continued their steady evolution - the interplay between their members organic and natural, imbuing the record's sixty-two-minute running time with a freshness and urgency. "After seventeen years of writing music for Byzantine, I know to let it just come as it may," states vocalist/guitarist Chris Ojeda. "I never really know what the songs are going to sound like or even the direction they might take. My main focus is to always experiment and push the parameters that have been pushed by past Byzantine albums, without straying too far from the original goal."
