A house is a building that functions as a home, ranging from simple dwellings such as rudimentary huts of nomadic tribes and the improvised shacks in shantytowns to complex, fixed structures of wood, brick, marble or other materials containing plumbing, ventilation and electrical systems. Most conventional modern houses in Western cultures will contain a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen or cooking area, and a living room. In traditional agriculture-oriented societies, domestic animals such as chickens or larger livestock (like cattle) may share part of the house with humans. The social unit that lives in a house is known as a household. Most commonly, a household is a family unit of some kind, although households may also be other social groups or individuals. The design and structure of the house is also subject to change as a consequence of globalization, urbanization and other social, economic, demographic, and technological reasons. Various other cultural factors also influence the building style and patterns of domestic space.

Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaics convert light into an electric current using the photovoltaic effect.
The International Energy Agency projected in 2014 that under its "high renewables" scenario, by 2050, solar photovoltaics and concentrated solar power would contribute about 16 and 11 percent, respectively, of the worldwide electricity consumption, and solar would be the world's largest source of electricity. Most solar installations would be in China and India.
Photovoltaics were initially solely used as a source of electricity for small and medium-sized applications, from the calculator powered by a single solar cell to remote homes powered by an off-grid rooftop PV system. As the cost of solar electricity has fallen, the number of grid-connected solar PV systems has grown into the millions and utility-scale solar power stations with hundreds of megawatts are being built. Solar PV is rapidly becoming an inexpensive, low-carbon technology to harness renewable energy from the Sun.
Solar panel refers to a panel designed to absorb the sun's rays as a source of energy for generating electricity or heating.
A photovoltaic (in short PV) module is a packaged, connected assembly of typically 6×10 solar cells. Solar Photovoltaic panels constitute the solar array of a photovoltaic system that generates and supplies solar electricity in commercial and residential applications. Each module is rated by its DC output power under standard test conditions, and typically ranges from 100 to 365 watts. The efficiency of a module determines the area of a module given the same rated output – an 8% efficient 230 watt module will have twice the area of a 16% efficient 230 watt module. There are a few solar panels available that are exceeding 19% efficiency. A single solar module can produce only a limited amount of power; most installations contain multiple modules. A photovoltaic system typically includes a panel or an array of solar modules, a solar inverter, and sometimes a battery and/or solar tracker and interconnection wiring.
Forget the salesman or the confusing websites, this video will show you what a solar panel system REALLY costs. From the most basic starter kit to a whole home solution, this video goes over the real world costs in 2016 for solar panel systems. This video only covers off grid systems so if you are considering a grid tied system you will need to consider other costs such as professional installation, grid tie inverter(s), and inspections/fees to your utility company. Bloomberg's Tom Randall explains why Tesla wants a solar-powered trifecta.
http://www.mysolarrevolution.com/ What are the advantages and disadvantages of changing over to solar power in your home or office? How much does it cost and how does it work? I often hear people say that buying solar panels is a waste of money that never realizes an ROI. What people don't know is that it's possible to install a home solar power system for literally ZERO down and you can immediately see a drop in your overall utility bills. According to UCSUSA (http://www.ucsusa.org/clean_energy/our-energy-choices/renewable-energy/solar-power-technologies-and-policies.html), "Solar power – clean, reliable, and increasingly affordable – is experiencing remarkable growth across the U.S." If you own your home, have a roof in good condition, and have an electric bill of over $100 / month...

Gabriel Parent-Leblanc heats his tiny house with an awesome solar air heater. He built his tiny house to prove it was possible to live in a tiny house year round in a northern climate. Not only did he succeed (he's been living in it for almost 2 years) but he also has one of the smallest heating bills I've ever seen. In the winter of 2014/2015, which was one of the coldest in the last 100 years, he spent only $100 on heat thanks to his solar air heater panel which provided the bulk of his heat during the day. Gabriel built his own tiny house with the help of friends and also started the first tiny house company in Quebec, Canada: Habitations MicroÉvolution: http://www.habitationsmicro.com/ The solar air heater he uses is distributed by EcoSolaris and they're planning to release a new ...

It is unusual to install a solar panel in a window. It is not the most ideal location but if you are limited on options then this may be the way to go. Keep in mind that you may not get the full output of the rate of the panel. Seek a qualified electrician if you are unsure what you are doing. Also make sure you are allowed to install this in your building if you do not own it. I will not be responsible if you break your windows, hurt or kill yourself or someone else in the process. Never leave an open window untended. Music: http://www.purple-planet.com
In this installment of Future House Live AskTOH Home Technology Expert Ross Trethewey and AskTOH Senior Producer Heath Racela discuss some of the frequently asked questions related to installing solar panels to make electricity including cost, payback, leases, power purchase agreements, incentives, and new technology on the horizon. Los Angeles, the so-called "horizontal city". Two hours' drive from the city center is an old military airport, the venue of the Solar Decathlon. It is the world's most demanding and important competition for sustainable construction, an olympic decathlon for innovative solar houses the americans won't miss. What you will see here is truly futuristic: homes where certain components are able to move apart on tracks, homes that look like a metal shed or haybarn and still are masterpieces of technology. 300.000 visitors come to get a glimpse into future living. There's a power revolution heading for our homes – a device that allows you to take power into your own hands. Its batteries, home batteries, and they've been called the holy grail of renewables – the key to the transition away from fossil fuels.
Mike Oehler lived for over 30 years in an underground home that he built for $50 (and expanded for $500) on his land in Northern Idaho near the Canadian border. Now in his seventies his arthritis keeps him from hiking up to his home, but he continues to “write and proselytize” In 1968 like thousands of other San Franciscans hoping to go “back to the land”, Oehler bought property and began to build a homestead. After spending a winter freezing in a small cabin, he designed a home that would use the earth as insulation. With his first attempt he fell into the easy errors of what he calls a “first thought house”: a hole cut into a hillside with south-facing windows. Gradually he began to innovate with subterranean design, creating better ways for letting light in: among them “the Hollywood ...

I walked slowly at first
Tried now to break into a run
I knew that was your house
At the end of the road
With one tree at the side
How I wished that I could have it
But hey this is crazy
When after all it's only your house
I came back 'til next time
Drove by some strange magnetic pole
Was just brick and molding
But you might be inside
What if you should see me here
That won't do, I'll dissapear
I know this is crazy
'Cause after all it's only your house
I got the number from a friend
Of a friend of a friend
He told me which street it was
And said that he lived near here
I only saw you that one time
That permanent breath on you sometimes
Now here I am making a fool of myself
Why am I so rude at first
It's only your house
I won't be back again
Don't want you thinking I'm some creepy guy
If I were to meet you what could I really say
You'd think I was insane
I don't even know your name
But hey this is crazy
When after all it's only your house
Look I know this is crazy
