Crotchdot was the first out of the gate - quite quickly, I might add - with Stunt Car Racer for yesterday's ScribbleTaku. And he was right - it was the Ski Jump track. Geoff Crammond really did make some amazing titles back in the day. I had a bit of trouble getting Grand Prix 2 to work recently, but maybe I'll take another stab soon.

Anyway, it's time for a new game.

Byuu, a revered SNES emulator developer and game archivist, had a plan. With the help of an avid collector from Europe, he would archive hundreds of SNES games, some of which are exceedingly rare. Unfortunately, that plan recently hit the skids when a package worth thousands of dollars went missing in the mail.

Taking a cue from Nintendo's book, Atari has released a "classic" game console called the Flashback 7 that will ship with 101 in-built games.

When I was very growing up, I was fortunate enough to have two sets of family friends. One owned the glorious gaming machine that was the Commodore 64, while another was a computer loving family that grew up with a couple of Amiga machines.

For certain games, like Super Mario Bros., new speedruns are constantly chiseling away at old world records, leading to friendly rivalries between players intent on retaking the title as new glitches are discovered. But a few games have speedruns that will never be improved upon.
