From 1997-2005 the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the Best Defenses of All Time. Under Defensive Coordinator Monte Kiffin the Bucs placed top 10 in defense 9 out of 9 years. 7 out of the 9 years they were top 5. 8 different defenders were sent to the pro bowl (Donnie Abraham, Hardy Nickerson, John Lynch, Warren Sapp, Simeon Rice, Derrick Brooks, Shelton Quarles, and Ronde Barber) 5 of which were All Pro at some point. Sapp and Brooks were named Defensive player of the year during that span ( Sapp 1999) (Brooks 2002) The 2002 Buccaneers were the #1defense in yards allowed and points allowed. They gave up an oppose passer rating of 48.4. They were the last defense in NFL History to hold opposing teams to under 200 points (they gave up 196) They had 31 interceptions in regular season play. SO FAR, the Bucs defense during this time have had two first ballot Hall of Famers. (Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks) It would be no surprise to eventually see Lynch, Barber and Tony Dungy. I also personally believe Simeon Rice should make it. He is one of the most underrated players of all time. In his five healthy years as a Buccaneer he posted 11,15,15,12,and 14 sacks. In the 02 Post season he had 4.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles in 3 games. Simeon has 121 career sacks. Simeon Rice was one of the biggest reasons the Bucs final won a Super Bowl. Before 2001 the Bucs had to work with Marcus Jones, Regan Upshaw, Chidi Ahanotu, Steve White etc. Those guys were no where near the caliber of Rice. Who knows how many Super Bowls the Bucs could have won had Simeon been there in 99 and 2000, I truly believe he belongs in the Hall of Fame. Anyway, Go Bucs. Winston will lead us to the promise land. I believe.

Depending on your point of view, George Best is either the carefree hedonist who played football for the love of it, and gleefully enjoyed the fringe benefits (booze 'n' birds) which came with the territory, or he is the sad, shambolic, wife-beating alcoholic who frittered away his God-given gifts. Both perspectives are given a full airing in Best Intentions, an old Ulster TV documentary which has been re-released on video to coincide with Best, the recent biopic starring John Lynch as George Best.
This isn't exactly a polished piece of film-making. Many of the interviews seem to have taken place in howling gales (you can¹t listen to Dennis Law without being distracted by the way his hair dances in the wind), and the archive footage is very clumsily edited. Nevertheless, all the key witnesses are grilled. No, Bobby Charlton insists, there was never really any rift between him and the boy wonder--they were just very different personalities. His old manager Matt Busby remembers him as good-natured, quiet lad who used to stay behind on the training pitch to help the youngsters. Busby's relationship with the Belfast prodigy was akin to that of an ailing father with his lovable, reckless teenage son. Best vexed and exasperated Sir Matt, but helped him win the European Cup. As Best says, it was probably a fair trade-off.
Everybody liked George, even his fiercest critics. His ex-wife Angie, his shaggy-haired old manager Bill McMurdo and former team-mates like Pat Jennings and Pat Crerand all trot out well-worn anecdotes about what a "smashing bloke" he is. George himself gives honest answers to questions on his drinking and playboy antics. If you're in any doubt why people make such a fuss of him, it only takes a few seconds of old footage of him prancing around opponents on the pitch to remind us that he really was the footballing genius the hype proclaims him to be. --Geoffrey Macnab

John Lynch (actor)
John Lynch (born 26 December 1961) is an Irish actor and novelist.
Biography
John Lynch was born in Corrinshego, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, near Newry, County Down. He attended St Colman's College, Newry. He began acting in Irish language-medium plays at school during the early years of the conflict in Northern Ireland. He is the eldest of five children of an Irish father and an Italian mother. His younger sister Susan is also an actress.
Lynch is also a novelist. His first novel, Torn Water, was published in November 2005 by the Fourth Estate, a literary imprint of Harper and Collins, and his second, Falling Out of Heaven, was published on 13 May 2010 by the same publisher. He separated from Mary McGuckian, in 2008 and the marriage was annulled mid-2012.
Acting career
Lynch has appeared in numerous films related to Northern Ireland's problems, among others, such as Cal (1984) with Helen Mirren,In the Name of the Father (1993), with Daniel Day-Lewis, The Railway Station Man (1992), with Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland, Nothing Personal and Some Mother's Son (1996), also with Mirren, as well as the Irish-themed film Evelyn (2002).

I also personally believe Simeon Rice should make it. He is one of the most underrated players of all time. In his five healthy years as a Buccaneer he posted 11,15,15,12,and 14 sacks. In the 02 Post season he had 4.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles in 3 games. Simeon has 121 career sacks. Simeon Rice was one of the biggest reasons the Bucs final won a Super Bowl. Before 2001 the Bucs had to work with Marcus Jones, Regan Upshaw, Chidi Ahanotu, Steve White etc. Those guys were no where near the caliber of Rice. Who knows how many Super Bowls the Bucs could have won had Simeon been there in 99 and 2000, I truly believe he belongs in the Hall of Fame. Anyway, Go Bucs. Winston will lead us to the promise land. Many of the interviews seem to have taken place in howling gales (you can¹t listen to Dennis Law without being distracted by the way his hair dances in the wind), and the archive footage is very clumsily edited. Nevertheless, all the key witnesses are grilled. No, Bobby Charlton insists, there was never really any rift between him and the boy wonder--they were just very different personalities. His old manager Matt Busby remembers him as good-natured, quiet lad who used to stay behind on the training pitch to help the youngsters. Busby's relationship with the Belfast prodigy was akin to that of an ailing father with his lovable, reckless teenage son. Best vexed and exasperated Sir Matt, but helped him win the European Cup. As Best says, it was probably a fair trade-off. Everybody liked George, even his fiercest critics. His ex-wife Angie, his shaggy-haired old manager Bill McMurdo and former team-mates like Pat Jennings and Pat Crerand all trot out well-worn anecdotes about what a "smashing bloke" he is. From 1997-2005 the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had one of the Best Defenses of All Time. Under Defensive Coordinator Monte Kiffin the Bucs placed top 10 in defense 9 out of 9 years. 7 out of the 9 years they were top 5. 8 different defenders were sent to the pro bowl (Donnie Abraham, Hardy Nickerson, John Lynch, Warren Sapp, Simeon Rice, Derrick Brooks, Shelton Quarles, and Ronde Barber) 5 of which were All Pro at some point. Sapp and Brooks were named Defensive player of the year during that span ( Sapp 1999) (Brooks 2002) The 2002 Buccaneers were the #1defense in yards allowed and points allowed. In the 02 Post season he had 4.5 sacks and 3 forced fumbles in 3 games. Simeon has 121 career sacks. Simeon Rice was one of the biggest reasons the Bucs final won a Super Bowl. Before 2001 the Bucs had to work with Marcus Jones, Regan Upshaw, Chidi Ahanotu, Steve White etc. Those guys were no where near the caliber of Rice. Who knows how many Super Bowls the Bucs could have won had Simeon been there in 99 and 2000, I truly believe he belongs in the Hall of Fame. Anyway, Go Bucs. Winston will lead us to the promise land. Depending on your point of view, George Best is either the carefree hedonist who played football for the love of it, and gleefully enjoyed the fringe benefits (booze 'n' birds) which came with the territory, or he is the sad, shambolic, wife-beating alcoholic who frittered away his God-given gifts. Both perspectives are given a full airing in Best Intentions, an old Ulster TV documentary which has been re-released on video to coincide with Best, the recent biopic starring John Lynch as George Best.
This isn't exactly a polished piece of film-making. Many of the interviews seem to have taken place in howling gales (you can¹t listen to Dennis Law without being distracted by the way his hair dances in the wind), and the archive footage is very clumsily edited. Nevertheless, all the key witnesses are grilled. No, Bobby Charlton insists, there was never really any rift between him and the boy wonder--they were just very different personalities. His old manager Matt Busby remembers him as good-natured, quiet lad who used to stay behind on the training pitch to help the youngsters. Busby's relationship with the Belfast prodigy was akin to that of an ailing father with his lovable, reckless teenage son. Best vexed and exasperated Sir Matt, but helped him win the European Cup. As Best says, it was probably a fair trade-off.
Everybody liked George, even his fiercest critics. Wealthy and neurotic Meg Swan (Parker Posey) and her husband Hamilton (Michael Hitchcock) are on hand with their Weimaraner "Beatrice," who they fear may have been traumatized by watching them have sex. Scott Donlan (John Michael Higgins) and his life partner Stefan Vanderhoof (Michael McKean) have brought their beloved Shih Tzu, "Miss Agnes." Trophy wife Sherri Ann Cabot (Jennifer Coolidge) and her close friend and trainer Christy Cummings (Jane Lynch) are hoping for a repeat victory for Sheri's poodle, "Rhapsody In White." And Harlan Pepper (Guest), who operates a store specializing in fly-fishing gear, has decided to stack his bloodhound "Hubert" up against the competition. In addition to Guest, Levy, O'Hara, and Posey, several other veterans of the Waiting for Guffman cast also appear in Best in Show, including Fred Willard, Bob Balaban, and Lewis Arquette.

Stefan Vanderhoof (Michael McKean) and Scott Donlan (John Michael Higgins) channel their love for old movies and Shih Tzus into a calendar.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
After parodying the idiosyncrasies of community theater devotees in the mock documentary Waiting for Guffman, actor/director Christopher Guest returns with another semi-improvised comedy that casts a satirical gaze on the world of championship dog breeding and training. A television crew is on hand to document the prestigious Mayflower Kennel Club Dog Show, and competition is fierce among the canine devotees vying for top honors. Salesman Gerry Fleck (Eugene Levy), who is cursed with two left feet (literally), and his wife Cookie (Catherine O'Hara) have entered their Norwich terrier "Winky" in competition. Wealthy and neurotic Meg Swan (Parker Posey) and her husband Hamilton (Michael Hitchcock) are on hand with their Weimaraner "Beatrice," who they fear may have been traumatized by watching them have sex. Scott Donlan (John Michael Higgins) and his life partner Stefan Vanderhoof (Michael McKean) have brought their beloved Shih Tzu, "Miss Agnes." Trophy wife Sherri Ann Cabot (Jennifer Coolidge) and her close friend and trainer Christy Cummings (Jane Lynch) are hoping for a repeat victory for Sheri's poodle, "Rhapsody In White." And Harlan Pepper (Guest), who operates a store specializing in fly-fishing gear, has decided to stack his bloodhound "Hubert" up against the competition. In addition to Guest, Levy, O'Hara, and Posey, several other veterans of the Waiting for Guffman cast also appear in Best in Show, including Fred Willard, Bob Balaban, and Lewis Arquette.

The hunt continues in this third heat week as we welcome four new celebrities to the challenge. Trying to impress judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace are Boyzone star Shane Lynch, actor Brian Capron, comedian Shappi Khorsandi and TV presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff.
The first challenge is the infamous Mystery Box Test. Requiring technical skill and a creative flair, the celebrities must design their own unique dish from a range of mystery ingredients, including a whole saddle of goat. With only one hour to create their dish, they will have to think fast if they're to impress the judges.
But there's no time for complacency, as the contestants face their second challenge for the day - the fearsome and celebrated Palate Test. John demonstrates to the viewers at home a deceptively simple tomato tart with herb salad. Without seeing the demo the celebrities are given just a few minutes to taste this dish, before being asked to write down exactly what is in it, using their sense of smell, and palate. Then they are asked to recreate John's dish in just 50 minutes - without a recipe.
Finally, the four hopefuls leave the MasterChef kitchen for the first time as they are thrown straight into the highly pressured world of mass catering. With over 100 hungry students to feed at Goldsmiths College, the celebrities will have to be on top of their game. With ingredients including beef, pork, pasta, rice, and a range of fruit and vegetables, the teams must prepare meat-based, vegetarian and dessert dishes in just two and a half hours. In the heat of the kitchen, and with a college of hungry students descending upon them, the celebrities must rely on their teamwork skills more than ever to triumph.

The show was cancelled after only a few episodes. He also had a recurring role in the HBO show Carnivàle, playing escaped convict Varlyn Stroud. Lynch appeared as a district attorney in the CBS series Close to Home and as NASA official Bob Gilruth in the HBO mini-series From the Earth to the Moon. Lynch appeared in the thriller Gothika (2003) and as suspect Arthur Leigh Allen in Zodiac (2007).
He was also in Fox's police drama series K-Ville as New Orleans Police Captain James Embry and had a recurring character arc on FX spy drama The Americans.
Lynch appears as "Col. Drummond" in the Sundance Film Festival drama Camp X-Ray starring Kristen Stewart and Peyman Moaadi. The film is scheduled for release by IFC Filmsin late 2014.
