MNW is a Swedish record company. MNW originally stood for Music Network Corps AB and was formed by Sverre Sundman, Lorne deWolfe and Lynn deWolfe several years later and due to political pressure to have a "more Swedish name" several years later replaced by Musiknätet Waxholm, but was again later changed to Music Network Records Group and now stands for MNW Music.
On September 22, 2015 artist Johan Johansson (KSMB) won a lawsuit claiming that the MNW has put out music streaming services without a license.
Charlie Puth (/puːθ/) (born December 2, 1991) is an American singer, songwriter, arranger, and record producer. Puth gained popularity virally by posting his work to YouTube. Puth released two extended plays, The Otto Tunes (2010) and Ego (2013), as an independent artist. In 2015 he signed with Atlantic Records and released his debut single "Marvin Gaye", which features guest vocals from Meghan Trainor. The single has been certified 2× Platinum in Australia, topped the charts in New Zealand, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, and peaked at number 21 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Puth wrote, co-produced, and was featured on a song with Wiz Khalifa, "See You Again", included in the Furious 7 soundtrack. On May 1, 2015, Puth released an EP, Some Type of Love. The pre-order for Puth's debut studio album Nine Track Mind started on August 20, 2015 along with the second single One Call Away, and the album was released on January 29, 2016.
Puth was born December 2, 1991, in Rumson, New Jersey, the son of Debra and Charles Puth, his father of German descent and his mother Jewish. At 2, his right eyebrow was damaged in a near fatal dog bite incident. Puth participated in a summer youth jazz ensemble in Red Bank, New Jersey at 12. He graduated from Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School in 2010. During his 7th grade to senior years, he attended Manhattan School of Music Pre-College as a jazz piano major and a classical minor. On a full scholarship, he graduated in 2013 from the Berklee College of Music, where he majored in music production and engineering.
The Tube Music Network was an American digital multicast television network. The network was a wholly owned subsidiary of The Tube Media Corp. (Grey Market: TUBM), an independent company that was founded by David Levy in 2003. The Tube focused classic and modern music videos in a format similar to the original format of cable networks MTV and VH1, prior to those networks' shift towards long-form entertainment programming. The network also aired occasional commercials and public service announcements, as well as three hours of educational and informational programming (as mandated by the Federal Communications Commission) on Saturday mornings.
The network was carried on free-to-air satellite television, the digital subchannels of select broadcast television stations, and the digital tiers of cable television providers. The network's president and founder was Les Garland, a veteran of MTV and VH1.
The Tube was initially available primarily in markets with stations operated by Raycom Media. According to a March 2006 article in The New York Times, Tribune Broadcasting announced that it would start carrying The Tube on its stations in the summer of 2006. However, it already began to be carried on digital subchannels of Tribune-owned stations in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Philadelphia. The network was also carried on WLVI in Boston, which was sold by Tribune to Sunbeam Television in late December 2006.
In the late 1950s, a flourishing culture of groups began to emerge, often out of the declining skiffle scene, in major urban centres in the UK like Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham and London. This was particularly true in Liverpool, where it has been estimated that there were around 350 different bands active, often playing ballrooms, concert halls and clubs. Beat bands were heavily influenced by American bands of the era, such as Buddy Holly and the Crickets (from which group the Beatles derived their name), as well as earlier British groups such as the Shadows. After the national success of the Beatles in Britain from 1962, a number of Liverpool performers were able to follow them into the charts, including Gerry & the Pacemakers, the Searchers and Cilla Black. Among the most successful beat acts from Birmingham were the Spencer Davis Group and the Moody Blues. From London, the term Tottenham Sound was largely based around the Dave Clark Five, but other London bands that benefited from the beat boom of this era included the Rolling Stones, the Yardbirds and the Kinks. The first non-Liverpool, non-Brian Epstein-managed band to break through in the UK were Freddie and the Dreamers, who were based in Manchester, as were Herman's Hermits. The beat movement provided most of the groups responsible for the British invasion of the American pop charts in the period after 1964, and furnished the model for many important developments in pop and rock music.
A reel of the "best of" promos produced for The Tube Music Network while I was director of production. Directed by James Spindler (@Radical Media), Marc Bennett, David Rousseau & Scott Mumford. Les Garland EP/CEO.
This is the demo that launch the Tube featuring 3 of the original 4 music television VJ's and was the brain child of Les Garland (EP/CEO of the Tube) who hired me to help conceptualize and produce this demo for NATPE 2004 which began the evolution of music television. This revised presentation features the best promos produced from 2004-2007 including image/branding campaigns co-produced by @Radical Media. Directed by Marc Bennett, edited by Woody Wilson, Design/Animation by Jeff Pittle. The Tube Music Network grew faster than any other music television network in history network reaching 16 million homes in less than 3 years. It was the coolest network on television and I'm proud to have helped create it! R.I.P. & thanks to the Garman for giving me the opportunity to rock!
Managed to snap this back when it happened for posterity. The Tube was an interesting approach to providing music videos over the digital airwaves for most who could receive it as a sub-channel on a local station that carried the network. WNWO-DT carried The Tube for the latter half of it's life span as I remember, and eventually replaced it with "RTV" afterwards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tube_Music_Network
