Tribune Broadcasting (legal name: Tribune Broadcasting Company II, LLC) is a subsidary of the Tribune Company, a Chicago, Illinois-based media conglomerate; Tribune Broadcasting owns broadcast television and radio stations, and cable television and national digital subchannel networks throughout the United States. Tribune Broadcasting is the broadcasting arm of Tribune Company. It began in June 1924 when the Chicago Tribune acquired WDAP and renamed it to "WGN" in Chicago ("WGN" stands for "World's Greatest Newspaper", slogan of the company's namesake, the Chicago Tribune). It entered television in 1948 with WGN-TV in Chicago and WPIX-TV in New York (the "PIX" in WPIX is for the New York Daily News's then-slogan, "New York's Picture Newspaper"). It grew by acquiring more stations (such as ...

I've been following on this controversial provision from the so-called 1992 Cable Act that started a pandemic in Pay Television Business with Broadcaster Blackouts (DRUM ROLL PLEASE!).....Retransmission Consent! Tribune Broadcasting has become a repeat offender once again! SMH! They blackout their stations and cable network WGN America on DISH last night because of Greed! SMH again! Why on earth Cable and Satellite providers have to pay the fees to carry commercial broadcast TV stations despite getting it for free over-the-air with an antenna? Doesn't make any sense at all! #Retrans #ReformNow http://www.americancable.org http://www.americantelevisionalliance.org has the details about this dreadful rule from 1992.

Looks like Dish is under yet another carriage dispute, this time it is with Tribune Broadcasting, which owns WGN America and many TV stations including KZJO (JoeTV) as well as its sister station KCPQ (Q13 FOX) in Seattle. Fortunately I have Charter so I'm not affected. Video clip recorded with my USB tuner. Note that I have blacked out the show "Modern Family" because it is copyrighted, but I left in the dark bluish-green scrolling marquee on the bottom of the screen. Marquee message: Alert Dish subscribers: as of June 13 on JoeTV your favorite shows may be taken away. Don't be blocked! Call 855-JOE-TVGO/855-563-8846 and demand JoeTV doesn't go dark.

After three months: Tribune Broadcasting ends the blackout to Dish Network subscribers. But I've also criticized and condemned Tribune's actions in the video too. From WGN9 News, plus the logo fades out, then fades in.
This time tribune broadcasting has an hissy fit over retransmission fees and WGN America with dish by hiking their prices by over 200%. Yet the ratings for WGN have been falling for years. Though dish network been number one when it comes to dropping cable networks and fighting content providers over higher fees. It's time for everyone either to demand for a la carte programming from their tv provider or watch tv via OTA and over the Internet.

Weeknight newscast from the then-independent station (later UPN, then WB, CW, and finally CBS affiliate) serving the Indianapolis television market. Commercials were edited. Local ABC affiliate WRTV started production of this newscast in April 1991, a few months after WTTV shut down their own news department. The WRTV newscast ceased in 2002, after the sale of WTTV to Tribune Broadcasting, which already owned Fox affiliate WXIN. After some on-and-off again simulcasts/broadcasts of WXIN's morning (and occasional 10pm) newscasts over the next few years, WTTV resumed local news production in January 2015, when the station became the CBS affiliate for Indianapolis.
