Jury Finds Monsanto PCBs Not To Blame For Cancer Cases

Law360, New York (May 22, 2014, 8:49 PM ET) -- A California jury returned a defense verdict Wednesday in a personal injury suit claiming three people developed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma because toxic polychlorinated biphenyls manufactured by Monsanto Co. permeated their food supply, resolving the first such case to go to trial nationwide.

Following a four-week trial, a Los Angeles Superior Court jury found that Monsanto’s design and marketing of PCBs between 1935 and 1977 were not substantial causes of the three plaintiffs’ cancer.
