Inspiration or inspire may refer to:
Data (/ˈdeɪtə/ DAY-tə, /ˈdætə/ DA-tə, or /ˈdɑːtə/ DAH-tə) is a set of values of qualitative or quantitative variables; restated, pieces of data are individual pieces of information. Data is measured, collected and reported, and analyzed, whereupon it can be visualized using graphs or images. Data as a general concept refers to the fact that some existing information or knowledge is represented or coded in some form suitable for better usage or processing.
Raw data, i.e. unprocessed data, is a collection of numbers, characters; data processing commonly occurs by stages, and the "processed data" from one stage may be considered the "raw data" of the next. Field data is raw data that is collected in an uncontrolled in situ environment. Experimental data is data that is generated within the context of a scientific investigation by observation and recording.
The Latin word "data" is the plural of "datum", and still may be used as a plural noun in this sense. Nowadays, though, "data" is most commonly used in the singular, as a mass noun (like "information", "sand" or "rain").
INSPIRE is "an EU initiative to establish an infrastructure for spatial information in Europe that is geared to help to make spatial or geographical information more accessible and interoperable for a wide range of purposes supporting sustainable development".
The INSPIRE directive lays down a general framework for a Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) for the purposes of European Community environmental policies and policies or activities which may have an impact on the environment. The INSPIRE Directive entered into force on 15 May 2007.
INSPIRE is based on the infrastructures for spatial information established and operated by the member states of the European Union. The directive addresses 34 spatial data themes needed for environmental applications.
To ensure that the spatial data infrastructures of the member states are compatible and usable in a community and transboundary context, the INSPIRE Directive requires that additional legislation or common Implementing Rules (IR) are adopted for a number of specific areas (metadata, interoperability of spatial data sets and services, network services, data and service sharing and monitoring and reporting). These are published either as Commission Regulations or as Decisions.
In computing, linked data (often capitalized as Linked Data) is a method of publishing structured data so that it can be interlinked and become more useful through semantic queries. It builds upon standard Web technologies such as HTTP, RDF and URIs, but rather than using them to serve web pages for human readers, it extends them to share information in a way that can be read automatically by computers. This enables data from different sources to be connected and queried.
Tim Berners-Lee, director of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), coined the term in a 2006 design note about the Semantic Web project.
Tim Berners-Lee outlined four principles of linked data in his "Linked Data" note of 2006, paraphrased along the following lines:
What is the INSPIRE Directive? Through the Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community (INSPIRE), the European Union has created common standards to facilitate the exchange of information and data between the local, regional, national and European or international levels and thus support integrated policy decision-making at all levels of government. INSPIRE is a set of EU and national legal acts and their coordinated implementation. By implementing INSPIRE, Member States, the Commission, and the European Environment Agency are adopting innovative and interoperable data management practices that greatly improve the consistency, availability and re-use of spatial information. The infrastructure will improve decision making in support of environmental policies, and of p...
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) of the European Commission is investigating how the RDF encoding of spatial data can facilitate cross-sector interoperability and help reuse of the investments of INSPIRE in other data infrastructures, including Linked Data and Open Data Portals. The e-Government and open data communities in Europe are increasingly looking at "Linked Data" approaches. In particular, the Resource Description Framework (RDF), a developer-friendly W3C specification for building the Semantic Web, can help data owners and data users to publish and combine different ‘self-describing’ datasets. Given its potential to help link geospatial data with other data sources, the JRC is developing RDF vocabularies for the INSPIRE spatial data themes, which will allow interested data provi...

In life, becoming an expert at something begins with having a strong foundation in the basics, and it's no different with analytics. This session presents best-practice solutions for the three main components of data preparation and blending: handling data sources, building efficient workflows, and conducting data exploration. We'll show you how you can optimize each of these components within Alteryx and avoid data analysis errors, thereby saving valuable time in the decision-making process.

This paper describes activities accomplished for the design and development of the data model and associated Geodatabase for the AIR-theme of the SEIS-Malta system. This SEIS-Malta system (Shared Environmental Information System (SEIS) and web-based GIS interface) forms part of a global project on environmental monitoring funded under the 2007-2013 Structural Funds Programme for Malta. The project "Developing national environmental infrastructure and capacity", is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) which provides 85% of the project's funding and the Government of Malta, which finances the rest under Malta's Operational Programme I - Cohesion Policy 2007-2013 "Investing in Competitiveness for a Better Quality of Life". By itself, predictive modeling can be difficult to implement. What's more, the growing number of data types and sources are making the data preparation process more complex. While predictive modeling can deliver substantial business gains, it can also wreak havoc if the data used for analysis is not accurate or complete. In this session, we'll help you understand how to assess the quality of your data, cleanse and prepare data for analysis, and decide the right predictive modeling techniques for your specific situation.
Alteryx is helping Annalect, the data science division of Omnicom Media Group, to more effectively manage advertising and media data. Offline (TV or radio stations) and online (e.g., Double Click and Google) data feeds come into media agencies from hundreds of data sources, including media owners and media research companies, and deliver large, frequent audience and transmissions data in incredibly messy, different formats. Thankfully, Annalect found Alteryx, which allows them to clean and harmonize all the data inputs, and merge them into one single source file for input into Tableau. Join this session to: · Hear a brief overview of the current state of advertising in Europe and UK, focused on the high degree of industry fragmentation · Understand the challenges media agencies face in b...

One thousand miles of the roughest, most beautiful terrain on the planet. A musher with a sled-dog team in below-zero temperatures on a frozen trail dotted with wildlife, bordered by mountain ranges, and peppered with treacherous river crossings. This is the Iditarod: "The Last Great Race on Earth," and analyzing data for it has some unique challenges created by cultural and environmental factors. When your customer's address is "The Last Grey House in Noatak" or "SW Face White Mountain," GIS mapping can be a problem. In this session, you'll learn how GCI, an Alaska-based technology company, has brought technology to the Iditarod. You'll also hear how self-service analytics has played a major role in GCI's corporate strategy. Cute puppy pictures guaranteed!
Monitoring core operational performance in any organization can be expensive, inaccurate, and manually cumbersome, as was the case at Polaris, one of the world's largest Powersports companies. Polaris lacked the ability to accurately produce critical metrics fast enough to measure business performance or facilitate data-based decisions. Attend this session and learn how Craig Nickels, Logistic Analyst at Polaris, was able to able to take a data blending and preparation process that used to take one day and reduce it down to one hour. Hear details on the workflows that now allow his team to deliver the metrics that were once unattainable, and to drive innovation and change throughout his organization.

Land & Property Services Northern Ireland (LPS) is currently setting up the technical component of their SDI (Spatial NI™). The aims of Spatial NI are to meet both the demands of the local Northern Ireland Geographic Information Strategy and INSPIRE by providing a one stop shop for data sharing. The creation of the portal significantly raises the technical platform of spatial data services in Northern Ireland; it will assist in driving standards and transparency in data set availability in Northern Ireland. Its use of web services will open up key datasets and widen access to both UK and Irish data through metadata catalogue linkages with data.gov.uk and the Irish metadata catalogue. The portal will provide a cost effective solution for Northern Ireland data providers and publishers by p...
