UK super producer Jon Gooch (aka “Feed Me” or “Spor”) returns to Razer Music to dig deeper into re-sampling and how producers can achieve grittier sounds while reducing CPU usage. Jon walks us through the process of converting an initial bass patch from your VST into audio, followed by processing & songwriting techniques using a few of his favorite plugins: Image-Line Sampler, iZotope Trash, and Voxengo’s GlissEQ.
From his fascination with Japanese Culture to his interest in Existentialism and his disdain for the mainstream, John Gooch also known as Feed Me is as captivating and unique of an artist as they come. His alter-egos, intricately designed compositions, and epic stage sets, have intrigued audiences around the world. While covering the 2014 Spring Awakening Music Festival in Chicago we had the opportunity to sit down with the man behind the madness and ask him a few questions. Feed Me tells us about his experiences traveling and performing in Tokyo and London, his thoughts on the direction of dubstep, his songwriting process, and collaborating with rappers, vocalists, and other producers.

Founded by Deadmau5 in 2007, Mau5trap is a Canadian label that has housed a variety of releases that has ranged from Moguai to Chris Lake to Excision and more recently, with exciting newcomers like Matt Lange, REZZ, Attlas and more. It's been an exciting 10 years for Mau5trap, which has looked over iconic releases over the decade including Skrillex's 'Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites' back in 2010, Feed Me's two-track EP 'The Spell' / 'Raw Chicken' and REZZ's 'The Silence Is Deafening' and 'Something Wrong Here' EPs.
FEED ME
Seeing his first release out on the label on 2008 as Mau5trap's first external artist, Feed Me has returned to the mau5trap family most recently with his inclusion on Deadmau5's currently ongoing 'Lots of Shows in a Row' North American tour. Born Jon Gooch, the British producer is also the mind behind several other aliases including his d'n'b alias Spor, Seventh Stitch and of course, Feed Me.
BLACKGUMMY
Iman Marouf created the BlackGummy identity in 2013 following a trip to the Middle East and Asia. Trained by Steve Duda and fascinated by sound design after graduating from music production school Icon Collective, BlackGummy released his first EP 'Lullaby' on Mau5trap in 2015 and has called the label home ever since.
NO MANA
No Mana is a mysterious Los Angeles-based producer that keeps his identity shrouded behind a curious 8-bit stylized cartoon. His sound fits perfectly in the Mau5trap realm, harkening back to early Deadmau5 tones, flirting between ethereal vocals and powerful electro builds.

Learn about Feed Me as a character, and get a peek into the artistic and technological challenges solved in the process of developing this show from a sketch to a fully realized concept. This includes designing the giant custom LED teeth, creating the beat-accurate video and lighting content and building software to synchronize all show systems to Feed Me's Live stage performance.

Jon Gooch
Jonathan Gooch (born 22 August 1984 in Hertfordshire, England), more commonly known by his stage names Feed Me and Spor, is a drum and bass, dubstep and electro house producer and DJ. He is currently managed by Three Six Zero Group.
Biography
Jon Gooch obtained the name Spor after an authentication of particular IP identities. After a successful partnership with Renegade Hardware and Barcode Recordings, and releases with Teebee's Subtitles Recordings, in 2006, Spor and long-term friend Chris Renegade launched Lifted Music and signed music from producers such as Apex, Evol Intent, Ewun and Phace.
On 24 February 2010, Spor released his second double EP, Conquerors and Commoners, on the Lifted Music label. In an interview with K Magazine, he said the title was inspired by a quote by Harlan Ellison. The album was well received by drum and bass fans, with two of the tracks from the album ("Halogen" and "Kingdom") being played on Andy C's Nightlife 5 mix CD. Spor has since then been playing his music at clubs across the world under the Lifted Music guise. Gooch was also involved in a second side project called "Seventh Stitch", which produced alternative IDM. Under this alias, he worked with another artist named Andrew Aker on a track entitled "Oceans".

Founded by Deadmau5 in 2007, Mau5trap is a Canadian label that has housed a variety of releases that has ranged from Moguai to Chris Lake to Excision and more recently, with exciting newcomers like Matt Lange, REZZ, Attlas and more. It's been an exciting 10 years for Mau5trap, which has looked over iconic releases over the decade including Skrillex's 'Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites' back in 2010, Feed Me's two-track EP 'The Spell' / 'Raw Chicken' and REZZ's 'The Silence Is Deafening' and 'Something Wrong Here' EPs.
FEED ME
Seeing his first release out on the label on 2008 as Mau5trap's first external artist, Feed Me has returned to the mau5trap family most recently with his inclusion on Deadmau5's currently ongoing 'Lots of Shows in a Row' North American tour. Born Jon Gooch, the British producer is also the mind behind several other aliases including his d'n'b alias Spor, Seventh Stitch and of course, Feed Me.
BLACKGUMMY
Iman Marouf created the BlackGummy identity in 2013 following a trip to the Middle East and Asia. Trained by Steve Duda and fascinated by sound design after graduating from music production school Icon Collective, BlackGummy released his first EP 'Lullaby' on Mau5trap in 2015 and has called the label home ever since.
NO MANA
No Mana is a mysterious Los Angeles-based producer that keeps his identity shrouded behind a curious 8-bit stylized cartoon. His sound fits perfectly in the Mau5trap realm, harkening back to early Deadmau5 tones, flirting between ethereal vocals and powerful electro builds.

With the Feed Me moniker, he explores the more modern sides of bottom heavy four on the floor while Spor sticks to the realm of hard hitting D&B;. One thing is for certain, Gooch loves that bass and for this installment of the Razer's "Sound Design" series he's going to use his Razerblade laptop and Serum synth to create a devastating Drum and Bass patch. Feed Me 'With Teeth' - Behind The Scenes
Studio Rewind recently cooperated with Sober Industries to produce a remarkable live show for electronic music artist Feed Me, using innovative lighting and video concepts and most notably a giant set of synchronized Teeth. Studio Rewind was responsible for the production of the animation as well as realizing the technical and lighting setup. All of the visual elements of the show are synced up to the (Ableton) live set and mixed in realtime, using software developed by Arttech. While most stage shows that are synchronized are limited to working with a set timecode, 'With Teeth' takes on a new approach on the word 'live' in audio/visual stage performances. Auke Kruithof from Studio Rewind was asked to create visuals for Feed Me’s live set for when Jon Gooch is DJ’ing. This was all created before Sober Industries started building the DJ Booth. I was asked by Auke Kruithof to help him create visuals for the DVD, which was a project we had three days on, from the art work that was created by Jon Gooch himself. We pulled the artwork apart and created visuals elements to would suit his live set. It was all created in Adobe After Effects, as visual elements and samples, and then mixed in and recored with VDMX and edited afterwards by Auke Kruithof.

Seeing his first release out on the label on 2008 as Mau5trap's first external artist, Feed Me has returned to the mau5trap family most recently with his inclusion on Deadmau5's currently ongoing 'Lots of Shows in a Row' North American tour. Born Jon Gooch, the British producer is also the mind behind several other aliases including his d'n'b alias Spor, Seventh Stitch and of course, Feed Me.
BLACKGUMMY
Iman Marouf created the BlackGummy identity in 2013 following a trip to the Middle East and Asia. Trained by Steve Duda and fascinated by sound design after graduating from music production school Icon Collective, BlackGummy released his first EP 'Lullaby' on Mau5trap in 2015 and has called the label home ever since.
NO MANA
No Mana is a mysterious Los Angeles-based producer that keeps his identity shrouded behind a curious 8-bit stylized cartoon. His sound fits perfectly in the Mau5trap realm, harkening back to early Deadmau5 tones, flirting between ethereal vocals and powerful electro builds.

Studio Rewind recently cooperated with Sober Industries to produce a remarkable live show for electronic music artist Feed Me, using innovative lighting and video concepts and most notably a giant set of synchronized Teeth.
Studio Rewind was responsible for the production of the animation as well as realizing the technical and lighting setup.
All of the visual elements of the show are synced up to the (Ableton) live set and mixed in realtime, using software developed by Arttech. While most stage shows that are synchronized are limited to working with a set timecode, 'With Teeth' takes on a new approach on the word 'live' in audio/visual stage performances.

Auke Kruithof from Studio Rewind was asked to create visuals for Feed Me’s live set for when Jon Gooch is DJ’ing. This was all created before Sober Industries started building the DJ Booth. I was asked by Auke Kruithof to help him create visuals for the DVD, which was a project we had three days on, from the art work that was created by Jon Gooch himself. We pulled the artwork apart and created visuals elements to would suit his live set. It was all created in Adobe After Effects, as visual elements and samples, and then mixed in and recored with VDMX and edited afterwards by Auke Kruithof.

Seeing his first release out on the label on 2008 as Mau5trap's first external artist, Feed Me has returned to the mau5trap family most recently with his inclusion on Deadmau5's currently ongoing 'Lots of Shows in a Row' North American tour. Born Jon Gooch, the British producer is also the mind behind several other aliases including his d'n'b alias Spor, Seventh Stitch and of course, Feed Me.
BLACKGUMMY
Iman Marouf created the BlackGummy identity in 2013 following a trip to the Middle East and Asia. Trained by Steve Duda and fascinated by sound design after graduating from music production school Icon Collective, BlackGummy released his first EP 'Lullaby' on Mau5trap in 2015 and has called the label home ever since.
NO MANA
No Mana is a mysterious Los Angeles-based producer that keeps his identity shrouded behind a curious 8-bit stylized cartoon. His sound fits perfectly in the Mau5trap realm, harkening back to early Deadmau5 tones, flirting between ethereal vocals and powerful electro builds.
