In Greek mythology, Nyx (Νύξ, "night"), Nox in Roman translation, is the deity of the night. A shadowy figure, Nyx stood at or near the beginning of creation, and was the mother of personified gods such as Hypnos (sleep) and Thánatos (death). Her appearances in mythology are sparse, but reveal her as a figure of exceptional power and beauty. She is found in the shadows of the world and only ever seen in glimpses.
In Hesiod's Theogony, Nyx is born of Chaos; her offspring are many, and telling. With Erebus the deity of shadow and darkness, Nyx gives birth to Aether (atmosphere) and Hemera (day). Later, on her own, Nyx gives birth to Momus (blame), Moros (doom), Thanatos (death), Hypnos (sleep), the Oneiroi (dreams), the Hesperides, the Keres and Moirai (Fates), Nemesis (retribution), Apate (deception), Philotes (friendship), Geras (age), and Eris (strife).
In his description of Tartarus, Hesiod says further that Hemera (day), who is Nyx's daughter, left Tartarus just as Nyx entered it; when Hemera returned, Nyx left. This mirrors the portrayal of Ratri (night) in the Rigveda, where she works in close cooperation but also tension with her sister Ushas (dawn).

Plot: A huge fallen tree plays a central role in surreal, sinister short, Not Dark Yet. It attracts Lucy who stumbles, lost, into the quiet watchful grove. Here she arouses the curiosity of the tree's mischievous residents, personified by strange figures that inhabit the tree. Whether they are spirits, nymphs or even figments of Lucy's imagination, we are left unsure, but they embody a playful, yet vaguely threatening force - one in particular develops a fascination with Lucy. It isn't immediately clear whether Lucy has seen the figures that flit around her, but as they begin to increasingly invade her space, some unspoken interaction develops and soon they are performing a disjointed dance that draws hapless Lucy deeper and deeper into their world.

Plot: Onan, a delirious assassin and survivor of the End of Times, is contacted by his shady coalition for his ultimate Mission: To seek and destroy Spassky, whose ungodly Nose has already inhaled entire galaxies and civilizations into complete in-existence... To find Spassky, Onan must first acquire Lucifer's Molar, a rare and priceless drug that might just lure Spassky into a trap. The quest carries him through a bleak world of absurdity: a land patrolled by a gang of pseudo-religious punk vigilantes constantly 'cleansing' citizens inside the confession booth attached to their "truck-church"; through subterranean Goth taverns with grisly showgirls and coke inhalation competitions; across flamboyant transvestite drug lords employing canine bag-men to run deals.

So let me drown
I shall not rest
Salvation pleases the soul
My work may be right
I am the heart
The snake is entwined
About the eternal core of the mind
By the corpse of nyx
I stand aside
My work may be right
I breathe
Infinity in the spirit
I drown
Like acid eats into steel
I rest
I shall not rest
I have found thee
The blood of the night starts dripping through your hands
And in fields of light you try to wash the stars away
Be ever the trance of this tremulous throat
I have gone down o god into the abyss of the all
You have been given into the black shining waters
Given to the night to the spirit of typhon
Be still o my soul that the spell may dissolve
As the wands are upraised and the aeons revolve
My work may be right
My work may be right
I breathe
So let me drown
I shall not rest
Salvation pleases the soul
Rise o my snake
Into brilliance of bloom
From the corpse of nyx
Afloat in the tomb
Reap and rejoice
There is no difference
I live through you
The blood of the night starts dripping through your hands
And in fields of light you try to wash the stars away
Be ever the trance of this tremulous throat
I have gone down o god into the abyss of the all
You have been given into the black shining waters
Given to the night to the spirit of typhon
Be still o my soul that the spell may dissolve
As the wands are upraised and the aeons revolve
For i have found thee alike in the me and the thee
