This video was published this morning and was accidentally deleted (sorry)!!
This is a lovely older patient whom I see for treatment of her skin cancers. I have a video I published earlier, that shows me extracting blackheads on her face, and it was during her last visit that I noticed that she had this cyst on the left side of her neck. However, we didn't have time to remove it on her previous visit. This time, I was seeing her to see how she was healing after I removed a basal cell carcinoma ( a type of non-life threatening skin cancer) and repaired the area surgically.
This bump had been bothering her for awhile, and I think she was happy to have it removed. As you know, epidermoid cysts like this are not life threatening. However, if they get irritated and inflamed, an infection can lead to pain and scarring. Here I use a punch biopsy tool to remove this cyst.

The neck is the part of the body, on many terrestrial or secondarily aquatic vertebrates, that distinguishes the head from the torso or trunk. The adjective (from Latin) signifying "of the neck" is cervical (though this more frequently used to describe the cervix).
The cervical portion of the human spine comprises seven boney segments, typically referred to as C-1 to C-7, with cartilaginous discs between each vertebral body. The neck supports the weight of the head and protects the nerves that carry sensory and motor information from the brain down to the rest of the body. In addition, the neck is highly flexible and allows the head to turn and flex in all directions. From top to bottom the cervical spine is gently curved in convex-forward fashion. It is the least marked of all the curves of the column.
In the middle line below the chin can be felt the body of the hyoid bone, just below which is the prominence of the thyroid cartilage called "Adam's apple", better marked in men than in women. Still lower the cricoid cartilage is easily felt, while between this and the suprasternal notch the trachea and isthmus of the thyroid gland may be made out. At the side the outline of the sternomastoid muscle is the most striking mark; it divides the anterior triangle of the neck from the posterior. The upper part of the former contains the submaxillary gland also known as the submandibular glands, which lies just below the posterior half of the body of the jaw. The line of the common and the external carotid arteries may be marked by joining the sterno-clavicular articulation to the angle of the jaw.

Cameron Jibril Thomaz (born September 8, 1987), better known by the stage name Wiz Khalifa, is an American rapper. He released his debut album, Show and Prove, in 2006, and signed to Warner Bros. Records in 2007. His Eurodance-influenced single, "Say Yeah", received urban radio airplay, charting on the Rhythmic Top 40 and Hot Rap Tracks charts in 2008. Khalifa parted with Warner Bros. and released his second album, Deal or No Deal, in November 2009. He released the mixtape Kush and Orange Juice as a free download in April 2010; he then signed with Atlantic Records. He is also well known for his debut single for Atlantic, "Black and Yellow", which peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. His debut album for the label, Rolling Papers, was released on March 29, 2011.
Khalifa was born on September 8, 1987 to a mother and a father serving in the military. His parents divorced when Khalifa was about three years old. His parents' military service caused him to move regularly: Khalifa lived in Germany, the United Kingdom, and Japan before settling in Pittsburgh where he attended Taylor Allderdice High School.

This video was published this morning and was accidentally deleted (sorry)!! This is a lovely older patient whom I see for treatment of her skin cancers. I have a video I published earlier, that shows me extracting blackheads on her face, and it was during her last visit that I noticed that she had this cyst on the left side of her neck. However, we didn't have time to remove it on her previous visit. This time, I was seeing her to see how she was healing after I removed a basal cell carcinoma ( a type of non-life threatening skin cancer) and repaired the area surgically. This is a lovely older patient whom I see for treatment of her skin cancers. I have a video I published earlier, that shows me extracting blackheads on her face, and it was during her last visit that I noticed that she had this cyst on the left side of her neck. However, we didn't have time to remove it on her previous visit. This time, I was seeing her to see how she was healing after I removed a basal cell carcinoma ( a type of non-life threatening skin cancer) and repaired the area surgically.
This bump had been bothering her for awhile, and I think she was happy to have it removed. As you know, epidermoid cysts like this are not life threatening. However, if they get irritated and inflamed, an infection can lead to pain and scarring. Here I use a punch biopsy tool to remove this cyst.

Neck pain is a common condition nowadays due to the urbanized lifestyle. We see everyday patients with neck pain in our clinic. The pain not necessarily should be felt only in the office. Whatever stress that they accumulate in the office, can be showing off at night time. They can wake up in the middle of the night with pain or in the early morning they wake up with severe neck pain and stiffness. The symptoms can be felt only in the neck. Sometimes it radiates down to the shoulders, arms, forearms and even they feel tingling and numbness over their hands. Its not uncommon for these patients to feel pain on their chest and the middle of their back mimicking like a cardiac pain. Some people even end up going to the cardiac hospital doing investigations there. But they can easily come from the neck. Also other symotoms like nausea, earpain, giddiness, headache can be felt by some of the patients, but all these symptoms can arise from the neck itself. Now how to treat it? The first thing is the posture. How do you sit in the office and how do you work? People tend to get lost themselves in the job by forgetting how they are positioning their neck. The more you slouch front like that, some people work like that in front of the monitors. Automatically there will be a stress building up in their muscles, wounds, joints and very imporatnatly in their disc. Disc will store the stress for period of time . It will tolerate as long as it can tolerate. But one day it will come with a bang. Now to prevent it, you need to learn how to work in front of the computers. We always must stay in neutral. In neutral position, the line of gravity will be passing appropriately, so that there will be least tension in the muscles, bones and the joints. So you must sit straight with probably a towel roll behind your lumbar spine and make sure that the shoulders are not protruded front and your neck and head must be in line with your trunk, and you should not go in front of the computer, rather you sit straight and pull the computer or the laptop towards you and maintain the neutral posture and work like that, plus you need to get up every now and them. We say the patients to get up every one hour or so, move around, so that they get varieties of movement rather than sitting stagnanant 8 hours in front of the computer. So that his very bad. So when someone is working in fornt of computers for 8 hours, they must be atleast doing this exercise for 8 sets. Each set 10 deputation. If this exercise is done its the best way to prevent the neck pain. You need to hold your hands at their back of your shoulders and then drag your neck back and then see up. I repeat, from neutral, hold the hands behind and drag your head backwards , and upwards, stay for a second come back, relax. Backwards, upwards, neutral. So this is wonderful exercise. Poeple who are already having neck pain, they can as well try this exercise People they are lucky, it will very well work. If not, they can segregate the components. They can do only the backwards component and wait and watch and at some point of time it will be painless and they can do both the components together. This is called as Mckenzie exercise .The best ecxercise for mechanical neck pain and as well as the back pain. When you do this exercise and if the pain worsens, like in if the pain radiates , like pain radiates down, you feel more tingling and numbness, then it may not be indicated at this point of time So ou need to consult a therapist how is conversed with Mckenzie treatment. They will be able to better help you. What you do for this neck pain? What exercises you can do? Since we are moving our headsforwards and downwards, for example you are using a laptop like that, or a desktop, or even a mobile, our necj ijs miovinf forward and downward. Downward component is not so common in laptops, but when we use smart phones and mobiles. The forward component is what is more common. So how do you reverse it? You have to nullify the forward and the downward component, by moving your head backward and upwards.so this is what is the basic exercise what we teach our patients who come with a neck pain.

Massage Tutorial: Sternocleidomastoid (SCM) myofascial release techniques: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zCJ_A...
In this video, I demonstrate a myofascial release routine for gently coaxing the upper back and shoulder region to relax, convincing the nervous system that there's no need for its locking/spasm response. Start by warming the trapezius and scalenes with broad, slow petrissage. By working bilaterally, we can gently introduce safe, small movements to the neck as we work. Move to one side and encourage the neck to roll away, staying well within the client's comfortable range of motion.
Continue the slow softening work, outlining the clavicle and incorporating the upper chest and shoulder. Incorporate the lateral neck when you can, targeting it directly once the general area has warmed up and acclimated to your touch. To work with levator scapulae, I recommend just one or two repetitions of a gentle fascial pin-and-stretch: Restrain the super angle of the scapula with one hand, and draw the tissue of levator superiorly with the other, stopping occasionally to allow the tissue to soften.
Once you've done that, grab as much upper thoracic tissue as you can and give it a gentle squeeze. We're trying to create some traction of as much of the area that interfaces with neck as possible. Once you've got that area in a nice myofascial squeeze, ask your client to gently rock their head from left to right. After 10 breaths or so (or after you feel the area between your fingers and thumb soften), let go and smooth things out.
Repeat on the other side, and then have the client reevaluate their neck pain and range of motion. If they still indicate an area of acute pain, you can experiment with another round of the pin-and-stretch and fascial grab. If you can get them feeling 25% better, I count that as a win. Hopefully they'll be able to sleep tonight!

19:17 How to stretch a crick in the neck

In this video, I demonstrate a myofascial release routine for gently coaxing the upper back and shoulder region to relax, convincing the nervous system that there's no need for its locking/spasm response. Start by warming the trapezius and scalenes with broad, slow petrissage. By working bilaterally, we can gently introduce safe, small movements to the neck as we work. Move to one side and encourage the neck to roll away, staying well within the client's comfortable range of motion.
Continue the slow softening work, outlining the clavicle and incorporating the upper chest and shoulder. Incorporate the lateral neck when you can, targeting it directly once the general area has warmed up and acclimated to your touch. To work with levator scapulae, I recommend just one or two repetitions of a gentle fascial pin-and-stretch: Restrain the super angle of the scapula with one hand, and draw the tissue of levator superiorly with the other, stopping occasionally to allow the tissue to soften.
Once you've done that, grab as much upper thoracic tissue as you can and give it a gentle squeeze. We're trying to create some traction of as much of the area that interfaces with neck as possible. Once you've got that area in a nice myofascial squeeze, ask your client to gently rock their head from left to right. After 10 breaths or so (or after you feel the area between your fingers and thumb soften), let go and smooth things out.
Repeat on the other side, and then have the client reevaluate their neck pain and range of motion. If they still indicate an area of acute pain, you can experiment with another round of the pin-and-stretch and fascial grab. If you can get them feeling 25% better, I count that as a win. Hopefully they'll be able to sleep tonight!
