The success was described as a youthquake but was that really the case? We meet some of the activists, politicians and voters to ask them what the result says about Ireland? And what are their hopes for a government as coalition talks continue?

Ireland 'should be ashamed of itself' for voting for Sinn Féin
The Australian's Greg Sheridan says "loads and loads” of people under 30 and 25 voted for the political arm of the IRA because the Irish “suffered from the most terrible ideological education where they’re not taught any history”.
Sinn Féin won 37 seats in the recent Republic of Ireland election and won the popular vote by over two per cent, up by more than 10 per cent from the 2016 election.
Mr Sheridan said “nobody over 65 voted for Sinn Féin,” and those who did voted for “people who have never repudiated the most sickening violence”.
He told Sky News hosts Alan Jones and Peta Credlin “modern Ireland should be ashamed of this”.

No party will win enough seats for an outright majority and seats are continuing to be allocated. Before the election the two other largest parties Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael ruled out forming a coalition with Sinn Féin.
Since the result, Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has not ruled out working with Sinn Féin, but said that "significant incompatibilities" still exist between the parties.
Mrs McDonald told Newsnight the next government should prepare for a border poll on Irish unity immediately, and said she would ask the EU to take a stance in support of Irish unification.
