She is co-founder of Lunch Lessons LLC and the Food Family Farming Foundation(F3)'s Lunch Box Project: Healthy Tools for All schools. F3 is also the managing partner of the Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools initiative, working to donate 6,000 salad bars to schools by 2013. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, NY, Ann Cooper has been a chef for more than 30 years including positions with Holland America Cruises, Radisson Hotels, Telluride Ski Resort as well as serving as Executive Chef at the renowned Putney Inn in Vermont. She has been featured in many prominent publications including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The San Francisco Chronicle, and The Chicago Tribune and has appeared on many media outlets. Ann has shared her knowledge and experience by speaking at the Smithsonian Institute and the National Restaurant Association among other institutions and conferences. She has been honored by SLOW Food USA, selected as a Kellogg Food and Society Policy Fellow, and awarded an honorary doctorate from SUNY Cobleskill for her work on sustainable agriculture. Ann is the author of four books. She is past president of The American Culinary Federation of Central Vermont, and past president and board member of Women's Chefs and Restaurateurs. She also served on the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Organic Standards Board, a Congressional appointment, and was an Executive Committee member of Chefs Collaborative. In 2009, Ann founded Food Family Farming Foundation (F3) as a nonprofit focusing on solutions to the school food crisis. Ann is the founder and president of Food Family Farming Foundation (F3), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing solutions to the U.S. school food crisis. F3 manages the Lunch Box, an online toolkit for Healthy Tools for All Schools.

Ann has shared her knowledge and experience by speaking at the Smithsonian Institute and the National Restaurant Association among other institutions and conferences. She has been honored by SLOW Food USA, selected as a Kellogg Food and Society Policy Fellow, and awarded an honorary doctorate from SUNY Cobleskill for her work on sustainable agriculture. Ann is the author of four books. She is past president of The American Culinary Federation of Central Vermont, and past president and board member of Women's Chefs and Restaurateurs. She also served on the U.S. Department of Agriculture National Organic Standards Board, a Congressional appointment, and was an Executive Committee member of Chefs Collaborative. In 2009, Ann founded Food Family Farming Foundation (F3) as a nonprofit focusing on solutions to the school food crisis. La reflexión en torno a la ciudad y su desarrollo continúa consolidando sus espacios con la segunda sesión de CCS Forum 2015 Construyendo la ciudad deseada. En esta ocasión la especialista invitada será la chef estadounidense Ann Cooper, que hablará sobre la importancia de una alimentación saludable para los niños en las escuelas. La conferencia se realizará el miércoles 27 de mayo a las 11:00 am en el Teatro de Chacao, con entrada libre.
Graduada en el Culinary Institute of America, Cooper tiene más de tres décadas de experiencia como chef y más de 15 años trabajando en los programas de alimentación escolar. Es educadora, ponente y promotora de una nutrición adecuada, campo en el que ha logrado importantes reformas en la alimentación infantil, que considera un pilar fundamental en el desarrollo. Postura que ha plasmado en sus libros Bitter Harvest (Amarga cosecha) y Lunch Lessons: Changing the Way We Feed Our Children (Lecciones de almuerzo: Cómo cambiar la forma que alimentamos a nuestros niños).

JENNIFER COOPER. La violencia de género en el ámbito laboral, se manifiesta en varias formas incluyendo el hostigamiento y abuso sexual y la negación de los derechos laborales vinculados a la salud reproductiva. Es reproducida por las prácticas, el clima y el imaginario de las organizaciones.
Con el paso de los años, el hostigamiento y acoso sexual han dejado de ser asuntos personales, ignorados y silenciados, para convertirse en un tema sobre el cual se debe hablar públicamente para evidenciar queson problemas de violencia y de género. Las instituciones -empresas, sindicatos, administración pública, escuelas, universidades- al investigar y aceptar la existencia del hostigamiento sexual, en sus múltiples dimensiones, dejan de ser cómplices de su reproducción.
En la literatura especializada se distinguen dos tipos de hostigamiento: aquel relacionado con el ambiente laboral: insultos, chistes, burlas, rumores acerca de la vida sexual de una persona -también conocido como hostigamiento a terceros-, lo que deriva en un clima adverso de trabajo, y el hostigamiento quid pro quo “premio-castigo”, que consiste en solicitar favores sexuales a cambio de beneficios, ascensos, aumentos al salario, contratos permanentes, entre otros. Este último se produce generalmente cuando existen relaciones jerárquicas; por ejemplo, entre un jefe o director y una trabajadora, o un profesor y una alumna. El abuso sexual (obligación por la fuerza física o amenazas a realizar algún acto sexual o a tener relaciones sexuales) es un acto cualitativamente diferente y como tal es tipificado por el código penal en México; no es hostigamiento sexual en términos legales. No obstante, se debe incluir en cualquier diagnóstico institucional sobre la incidencia de hostigamiento sexual porque sí ocurre en los lugares de trabajo. Una definición en términos sucintos es: hostigamiento sexual es cualquier insinuación sexual, no solicitada ni deseada.
Hostigamiento sexual y la segregación ocupacional
Se ha señalado que la identidad genérica de las personas que trabajan está íntimamente vinculada con el tipo de trabajo que realizan. Se pueden correr “riesgos psíquicos” cuando se incursiona en espacios laborales que no se consideran tradicionales del propio sexo: el temor de los hombres a feminizarse si realizan el trabajo de una mujer, y viceversa.
Dado que cada año más mujeres están ingresando a trabajos no tradicionales de su sexo, se puede esperar un aumento de la incidencia del hostigamiento sexual. En el campo de los oficios, la policía y la industria automotriz, por ejemplo, muchos de los empleos están asociados con la imagen del macho “rudo”. Ver mujeres haciendo el mismo trabajo parece amenazar la imagen que los hombres tienen de su masculinidad. Algunos trabajadores varones responden con burlas, sugerencias obscenas y hostigamiento sexual. Es el precio que las mujeres tienen que pagar por ser intrusas en el mundo de los hombres. Por ser mujeres, deben pasar dos pruebas: demostrar que son capaces de hacer el trabajo y también demostrar ser “uno de los muchachos”.
El temor al hostigamiento sexual es una causa de la persistencia de la segregación ocupacional. La concentración de mujeres u hombres en ciertos puestos refleja, asimismo, la existencia de barreras de entrada a esas ocupaciones; éstas van: de la falta de información sobre las opciones de empleo, al rechazo abierto y al hostigamiento cuando una mujer o un hombre intentan entrar a una ocupación no tradicional de su sexo. Aquellas mujeres que rompen las barreras para desempeñar tareas no tradicionales para su sexo se enfrentan, en el mejor de los casos, con una actitud ambigua de parte de sus compañeros. A menudo, sufren un sabotaje sutil en los procesos de adiestramiento y capacitación informal. Los hombres, en general, son muy reacios a reconocer la utilización de tales tácticas para regular y segmentar el mercado de trabajo y, a veces, ni siquiera son conscientes de su comportamiento discriminador. El temor a la hostilidad y al hostigamiento sexual es, en sí mismo, una fuerza de disuasión para las trabajadoras que consideran la posibilidad de entrar a puestos masculinos. Este último fenómeno es una poderosa razón para la persistencia de la segregación ocupacional.
