Make your own tortillas with this easy flour tortilla recipe! While corn tortillas dominate through most of Mexico, when you get close to the US-Mexico border, you will find flour tortillas much more common.

They are usually made with lard, but you can use oil (as I've done) or vegetable shortening. In fact, I'd say from my experience eating tacos and tortillas all across this great state, while lard is typical in Mexico and in the border towns on both sides, shortening becomes the preferred fat as you head Northward towards San Antonio.
And while corn remains very popular to hold such fillings as carnitas and al pastor, flour tortillas are almost always what you will find cradling your breakfast tacos and accompanying your fajita plates.

You will love this recipe because the tortillas are not only delicious and soft, but they are even soft the day after. Yes, bacon fat, butter-flavored Crisco and boiling water make all the difference in this wonderful recipe.

INGREDIENTS AND TIPS
- 1 heaping cup corn masa flour, 1 1/2 cup water, pinch of salt
- Mix and let corn masa rest for 15-20 min
- Preheat griddle or comal
- Prepare 8 masa balls ~ 2 in diameter
- Press, slide onto griddle and turn
- Turn again, and finish cooking until tortilla puffs
- Remove and keep warm in tortillero
- Enjoy, and buen provecho!

Tortilla (English /tɔrˈtiː.ə/, Spanish: [torˈtiʎa]) means "little torta" or "little cake" in Spanish; the Spanish word applies to several different foods eaten in various Spanish-speaking countries. The Spanish word is used in English for a more restricted range of foods, mainly a potato-based omelette originating in Spain, and for a flatbread made from corn or wheat originally made by Mesoamerican peoples.
Flatbread tortillas have been eaten for many centuries in Mexico, where they are a staple. More recently, other countries have begun producing them to serve the expatriate Mexican market and the growing demand for Mexican food, particularly in North America, Europe and Eastern Asia. Mexican tortillas are commonly prepared with meat to make dishes such as tacos, burritos, and enchiladas.
The word tortilla in Spanish denotes two different classes of foods, one basically an omelet which may have added ingredients, the other a flat thin cake of maize or wheat flour. In English, the Spanish word is used sometimes specifically for the Spanish tortilla de patatas (but not for omelets in general), and very widely for the very different Mexican tortilla, the corn tortilla (tortilla de maíz).

Make your own tortillas with this easy flour tortilla recipe! While corn tortillas dominate through most of Mexico, when you get close to the US-Mexico border, you will find flour tortillas much more common.

They are usually made with lard, but you can use oil (as I've done) or vegetable shortening. In fact, I'd say from my experience eating tacos and tortillas all across this great state, while lard is typical in Mexico and in the border towns on both sides, shortening becomes the preferred fat as you head Northward towards San Antonio.
And while corn remains very popular to hold such fillings as carnitas and al pastor, flour tortillas are almost always what you will find cradling your breakfast tacos and accompanying your fajita plates.

- Preheat griddle or comal
- Prepare 8 masa balls ~ 2 in diameter
- Press, slide onto griddle and turn
- Turn again, and finish cooking until tortilla puffs
- Remove and keep warm in tortillero
- Enjoy, and buen provecho!

Happy 2016 everyone! Wanted to provide a new update with our machine and Kickstarter. We had plans on posting the project late last year but needed to confirm some sourcing issues. Now that we've resolved that, we'll be posting the project very shortly. We'll be answering all direct messages in the next few days. Your patience is appreciated.

Due to the high number of inquires for this machine, we've made the decision to produce the machine in volume which will satisfy all inquires and more importantly.. drastically reduce the overall unit price.
To get everyone involved and up-to-date on the product, we will be raising money for the product via Kickstarter or Indiegogo. A decision to go with either platform will be made based on who approves us first.
ORIGNAL POST:
This badass tortilla machine is compact and made of only the highest quality American steel (Grade 304) . Because of its compact size, it can be placed in a food cart, food truck, or restaurant.
Due to the high number of solicitors, all inquires must agree to the following parameters:
Price per unit is $12,000
Minimum order is 10 units
Price break at 25 units
We will not provide specs. unless a $250 refundable deposit is made... no exceptions. If you'd like to proceed forward, please leave comment.

Ham & Cheese Tortilla Rollups
fresh 10-inch flour tortillas, as needed
sandwich spread or mayonnaise, as needed
shaved (or very thinly sliced) ham
thinly sliced pliable cheese (I used processed American cheese squares.)
flat lettuce leaves (romaine, iceberg, or bibb, with any hard spines removed)
Spread a flour tortilla thinly with sandwich spread or mayonnaise. Place a thin layer of shaved ham over sandwich spread. Place thin slices of cheese over the top of ham. Place lettuce leaves flatly over the top of cheese. Start at one edge of tortilla and roll up tightly. Trim the resulting log and use toothpicks to secure it. Cut log into 1-inch pieces. Place pieces, spiral side up, on a nice serving plate. Repeat, until you have as many rollups as you want. Delicious and pretty, too! --Betty :)

Splash of Vegetable Oil
Add a Tablespoon of Water Until The Dough is Smooth
For the Filling
200g Shredded Chicken Breast
3 Tablespoons of Sour Cream or Mayonnaise
1/4 Cup of Shredded Coconut
The Juice of Half a Lemon
1/2 a Tin of Chick Peas
1/2 a Teaspoon of Paprika
A Pinch of Salt
A little Salad to Complete the Wrap

Tips:
Las tortillas no duran mucho como las comerciales, pero puedes tener la masa lista para hacerlas al momento, la masa dura 4 días sin refrigerar
