Marc Bolan (pron. BOE-lən; born Mark Feld; 30 September 1947 – 16 September 1977) was an English singer-songwriter, musician, guitarist, and poet. He was best known as the lead singer of the glam rock band T. Rex.
Bolan grew up in post-war Stoke Newington Common, in the borough of Hackney, East London, the son of Phyllis Winifred (née Atkins) and Simeon Feld, a lorry driver. His father was an Ashkenazi Jew of Russian/Polish extraction. Later moving to Wimbledon, southwest London, he fell in love with the rock and roll of Gene Vincent, Eddie Cochran, Arthur Crudup and Chuck Berry and hung around coffee bars such as the 2i's in Soho.
He was a pupil at Northwold Primary School, Upper Clapton. He appeared as an extra in an episode of the television show Orlando, dressed as a mod. At the age of nine, Bolan was given his first guitar and began a skiffle band. While at school, he played guitar in "Susie and the Hula Hoops," a trio whose vocalist was a 12-year-old Helen Shapiro. During lunch breaks at school, he would play his guitar in the playground to a small audience of friends. At 15, he was expelled from school for bad behaviour.
Bolans is a community on the south-western end of the island of Antigua, headtown of the Saint Mary's Parish. It was once an agrarian community but has slowly been transformed into a centre of tourist activity. There are those in the community who involve themselves in agricultural activity, more as an avenue of feeding themselves or adding some needed income. Bolans is home to the world famous Jolly Beach Resort as well as Jolly Harbour Marina and Boatyard which provides a sheltered dockage with 24-hour security and a full-service boatyard.
Tyrannosaurus (/tᵻˌrænəˈsɔːrəs/ or /taɪˌrænəˈsɔːrəs/, meaning "tyrant lizard", from the Ancient Greek tyrannos (τύραννος), "tyrant", and sauros (σαῦρος), "lizard") is a genus of coelurosaurian theropod dinosaur. The species Tyrannosaurus rex (rex meaning "king" in Latin), commonly abbreviated to T. rex, is one of the most well-represented of the large theropods. Tyrannosaurus lived throughout what is now western North America, on what was then an island continent known as Laramidia. Tyrannosaurus had a much wider range than other tyrannosaurids. Fossils are found in a variety of rock formations dating to the Maastrichtian age of the upper Cretaceous Period, 68 to 66 million years ago. It was the last known member of the tyrannosaurids, and among the last non-avian dinosaurs to exist before the Cretaceous–Paleogene extinction event.
Like other tyrannosaurids, Tyrannosaurus was a bipedal carnivore with a massive skull balanced by a long, heavy tail. Relative to its large and powerful hind limbs, Tyrannosaurus fore limbs were short but unusually powerful for their size and had two clawed digits. The most complete specimen measures up to 12.3 m (40 ft) in length, up to 4 meters (13 ft) tall at the hips, and up to 6.8 metric tons (7.5 short tons) in weight. Although other theropods rivaled or exceeded Tyrannosaurus rex in size, it is still among the largest known land predators and is estimated to have exerted the largest bite force among all terrestrial animals. By far the largest carnivore in its environment, Tyrannosaurus rex was most likely an apex predator, preying upon hadrosaurs, ceratopsians, and possibly sauropods. Some experts, however, have suggested the dinosaur was primarily a scavenger. The question of whether Tyrannosaurus was an apex predator or a pure scavenger was among the longest ongoing debates in paleontology. It is accepted now that Tyrannosaurus rex acted as a predator, and scavenged as modern mammalian and avian predators do.

Born to Boogie is a 1972 concert film about a concert at Wembley Empire Pool starring Ringo Starr, Marc Bolan and T. Rex. Directed by Starr himself, the movie was released on The Beatles' Apple Films label.
Born to Boogie consists of concert footage; recording studio scenes with Ringo Starr and Elton John, filmed at the Apple Studios in Savile Row, London; and various vignettes reminiscent of The Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour, shot at Denham and Tittenhurst Park, Sunninghill. The Tea Party sequence was filmed at John Lennon's estate in the same spots as Lennon's "Imagine" video was filmed. The actor Geoffrey Bayldon of Catweazle fame was bemused to find that things were not going to plan when he arrived to play his role as a waiter at the Mad Hatter's Tea Party Scene. The planned orchestra had to mime as the whole thing had not been planned too well.
The UK premiere was held at Oscar's Cinema in Brewer Street, Soho on 14 December 1972, attended by T. Rex, Ringo Starr and Elton John.

Rare footage of David Bowie performing 'Lady Stardust' at the Rainbow Theatre, London in August 1972, as well as clips from other performances in 1972 and some backstage footage from 1973 - all shot presumably by the great Mick Rock. (Look out for Angie Bowie in the crowd shot at 1.17s) Lady Stardust is believed to be a homage to Marc Bolan and although it is not visible in the video, it is said that Marc's face was projected onto the screen behind Bowie whilst he performed this song at the Rainbow. I initially created this edit in June of last year, putting it together from clips derived from various sources. I held off uploading it back then because I was always hopeful that some better quality footage would turn up to replace some of the rougher quality clips I was using. The excel...

The brand name was relaunched by Channel 4 as an online radio station in November 2006. At a industry only event, the newly refurbished Ding Dong Lounge, reopened it doors with those completely fried theremin wielding psychopaths, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard performing a scorching set on the new stage. Back in 1998, a young Billy Walsh (the former drummer of Melbourne rockers Cosmic Psychos) conceived a bar idea after one-too-many margaritas at CBGB's. A bar where musicians came to hang out and hoped that the DJs might play their record. A place where the DJs had very large record collections (duh) and it was always all about the music. Liam Gallagher demanded that they sell the bar to him. Billy's mum Janet Walsh was introduced into the mix as a secret weapon. Thom Yorke described her homemade sausage rolls as heavenly at a Radiohead end of wo...

Marc Bolan, probably Summer 1977 about punk
When Marimba rhythms start to play
Dance with me, make me sway
Like a lazy ocean hugs the shore
Hold me close, sway me more
Like a flower bending in the breeze
Bend with me, sway with ease
When we dance you have a way with me
Stay with me, sway with me
Other dancers may be on the floor
Dear, but my eyes will see only you
Only you have the magic technique
When we sway I go weak
I can hear the sound of violins
Long before it begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now
Other dancers may be on the floor
Baby, my eyes will see only you
Only you have the magic technique
When we sway I go weak
I can hear the sound of violins
Long before it begins
Make me thrill as only you know how
Sway me smooth, sway me now
You know how, sway me smooth
