Renowned actor Om Puri talking to RSTV's anchor Irfan for Guftagoo.Om Puri born 18 October 1950 is an Indian actor who has appeared in both mainstream Indian films and art films. His credits also include appearances in British and American films. He has received an honorary OBE.
Om Puri was born in Ambala, Haryana. He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India. He is also an alumnus of the 1973 class of National School of Drama where Naseeruddin Shah was a co-student.
Om Puri has worked in numerous Indian films and in many films produced in the United Kingdom and the United States. He made his film debut in the 1976 film Ghashiram Kotwal, based on a Marathi play of the same name. He has claimed that he was paid "peanuts" for his best work. He has collaborated with Amrish Puri as well as Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil in art films such as Bhavni Bhavai (1980), Sadgati (1981), Ardh Satya (1982), Mirch Masala (1986) and Dharavi (1992).
His more recent Hindi film roles include Singh Is Kinng, Mere Baap Pehle Aap and Billu. Puri was seen in the role of Mohammad Ali Kasuri in Road to Sangam (2009). In 2010, he appeared in The Hangman. In 2011 he was in the Indian action movie Don 2.
He has also worked in Aahat TV Series in some episodes during second season which was aired between 2004-2005 on Sony channel. Om Puri would be seen on small screen in a crime show Savdhan India's second season on Life OK.

Renowned actor Om Puri talking to RSTV's anchor Irfan for Guftagoo.Om Puri born 18 October 1950 is an Indian actor who has appeared in both mainstream Indian films and art films. His credits also include appearances in British and American films. He has received an honorary OBE.
Om Puri was born in Ambala, Haryana. He graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India. He is also an alumnus of the 1973 class of National School of Drama where Naseeruddin Shah was a co-student.
Om Puri has worked in numerous Indian films and in many films produced in the United Kingdom and the United States. He made his film debut in the 1976 film Ghashiram Kotwal, based on a Marathi play of the same name. He has claimed that he was paid "peanuts" for his best work. He has collaborated with Amrish Puri as well as Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Smita Patil in art films such as Bhavni Bhavai (1980), Sadgati (1981), Ardh Satya (1982), Mirch Masala (1986) and Dharavi (1992).
His more recent Hindi film roles include Singh Is Kinng, Mere Baap Pehle Aap and Billu. Puri was seen in the role of Mohammad Ali Kasuri in Road to Sangam (2009). In 2010, he appeared in The Hangman. In 2011 he was in the Indian action movie Don 2.
He has also worked in Aahat TV Series in some episodes during second season which was aired between 2004-2005 on Sony channel. Om Puri would be seen on small screen in a crime show Savdhan India's second season on Life OK.

Plot - Mansi and Amar have been married for years, and have a daughter by this marriage. Amar is employed full-time, while Mansi looks after the household chores and their daughter. Amar earns a steady income, which enables the family to live comfortably, but they cannot afford to be extravagant at all. One day while buying shoes for her daughter, Mansi realizes that shoes are really expensive, and wants to leave the store without purchasing them. Another woman customer named Reena offers to pay for the shoes, as she feels sorry for Mansi. Mansi reluctantly accepts Reena's offer to pay for the shoes, not realizing that Reena has paid for these shoes with a secret agenda that will take Mansi to a whole new world, and change her life forever.

Plot Theme::
An intense drama starring Om Puri, Anooradha Patel and Danny, this film is based on the character of Resham Singh, who is a soldier in the Indian Army Forces. Under the command of Major Balwant Rai, they manage to resist the enemy but Balwant is injured. The loyal Resham brings him home safely, but years later when Balwant comes face to face with Resham again, the later has undergone a transformation and has become a cold blooded killer. Plot - The film of exploitation in rural Bihar, in which a landlord (Utpal Dutt)’s men wreck a village and kill the benevolent schoolmaster (Anil Chatterjee) who was a progressive force in the village. Plot:
Allegedly based on a true incident reported on page 7 of a local newspaper, the film was a scathing satire on the corruption in the judicial system and the victimization of the underprivileged by the able and the powerful.[4]
Aakrosh forms a part of the series of works, based around explorations in violence, written by noted playwright Vijay Tendulkar, who had earlier written Shyam Benegal's Nishant (1974) and went to write Govind Nihalani's next surprise breakaway hit, Ardh Satya (1983).
Here the victim is shown so traumatized by excessive oppression and violation of his humanity, that he does not utter a single word almost for the length of the film and only bears a stunned look,[5] though later he uses the same violence as a tool to express his own sense of violation and rage.[6]
Basically, the story is of a peasant who is oppressed by landowners and his foremen while trying to eke out a living as a daily laborer. His comely wife, played by Smita Patil, is raped by the foreman who then has him arrested to hide his own crime. His wife commits suicide out of shame. The police bring him to the funeral grounds in manacles and shackles to complete the Last Rites of his dead father by lighting the funeral pyre — which in the Hindu religion only the son has the right to.
Standing beside the burning funeral pyre, he sees the foreman looking at his pre-pubescent sister with lustful eyes. Divining the fate that is in store for her, he grabs an axe and chops off his sister's head to forestall her dire future as perpetual victim, as he sees it. Upon completion of this hapless act of a desperate and downtrodden man, he raises his face towards the skies and screams, and screams and screams — the second time that we hear his voice in the movie (the first is in a flashback, as he vainly attempts to rescue his wife) — a device similar to Andrei Tarkovsky's showing of the icons in brilliant color at the

The 2 days innovative festival witnessed number of stalwarts and celebrities from the field of literature, art and culture, cinema and other sections of the intellectual spectrum.
The key theme of this year's festival surrounded with the thoughts and logic on rebuilding the thirteen century's global heritage — the Sun Temple of Konark.

Synopsis - Harnek Singh alias Nek(Kulbhushan Kharbanda), an honest farm worker from village, who works hard for his employer, Jagirdar Joginder Singh(Amrish Puri). Nek is in love with village belle, Kammo(Rama Vij), and hopes to marry her after he accumulates enough wealth and some land. One day the Jagirdar asks his assistant, Tulsi(Om Puri), to send Nek out of village for about 20--25 days. When Nek returns home, Joginder is pleased with him and allocates 6 acres of land so that he can be independent, and marry Kammo. A delighted Nek marries Kammo and they settle down to a harmonious married lifestyle. Soon Kammo becomes pregnant and gives birth to a son, Laali(Raj Babbar). It is then that their world is turned upside down when Nek finds out that the child is not his but that of Joginder, who had raped Kammo in his absence. Angered he kills a man named Kanhaiya, is arrested, tried in Court, and sentenced to 20 years in prison. Nek breaks off all ties with Kammo, suspecting her of infidelity. Years later, Laali(Raj Babbar) has grown up and is in love with a beautiful woman named Channni(Sunita Dheer) who he wants to marry. When he tells his mother about her, she refuses to giver her permission and blessings, but instead wants him to marry another village belle by the name of Nimmo(Rajni Sharma), who she approves of. Watch what happens when Laali persists in knowing what is the reason why his mother does not approve of Channni.
