And so our 12-day adventure in India begins! We took an Air India red-eye flight direct from Shanghai to New Delhi. Our flight was a little delayed, so we only arrived in New Delhi at 3:00 am. We used the prepaid car service inside the arrivals terminal for transportation from the airport to our hotel. This was a mistake! We were charged 1,500 rupees only to find out that we could have used the prepaid taxi service just outside the terminal for 500 rupees. Something to remember for next time! :)

21 Things To Do In Delhi, India (नई दिल्ली)
For many more things to do in Delhi, where to stay, and delicious food to eat, check out my Delhi Travel Guide: http://migrationology.com/delhi-travel-guide-ebook/ (click the link)!
Delhi, India, (नई दिल्ली) is the national capital of the country and has a metropolitan population of around 22 million residents. The city is ancient, it's been around since the 6th century BC so there are many historical and cultural places to visit. That's specifically why I created this list of 21 things to do in Delhi, to help you plan and get excited about visiting Delhi, India.
1. The Lotus Temple (Bahá'í House of Worship) - The temple is in the shape of a giant lotus and on the inside is a peaceful sanctuary where you can enter and sit in silence for as long as you like.
2. ISKCON Hare Krishna Temple - I had never seen a temple like this before, so it as an interesting experience to hear the music and walk around the interior of the temple.
3. Kalkaji Mandir Hindu Temple - This temple is a very important Hindu temple in Delhi and while I was there, there were a number of babies being dedicated by being decorated and blessed.
4. Jama Masjid - Located in Old Delhi, Jama Masjid is the largest mosque in all of Delhi. Though they will attempt to get money from you, it's free to enter the mosque, but if you want to take photos inside they will charge you 300 rupees.
5. Akshardham Temple - This modern Hindu temple located on the outskirts of Delhi literally made my jaw drop, it's that amazing. It's free to enter, but unfortunately, they don't allow any photography inside. This is one of the things to do in Delhi that you cannot afford to miss!
6. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib (Sikh Temple) - Unlike some other sites in Delhi where you'll find many touts and hustlers, the Gurdwara Sikh Temple is about the nicest and most friendly place you can go in Delhi. People are extremely nice and you can enter the temple to listen to music.
7. Laxmi Narayan Mandir -- Dedicated by Mahatma Gandhi, this is one of the most significant Hindu temples in Delhi.
8. Hauz Khas Complex - I'm always amazed at the history of Delhi and Hauz Khas is an excellent example of ancient monuments in the middle of a public park.
9. Lodi Gardens - As a free entrance public park, visiting the Lodi Gardens is one of the most amazing things to do in Delhi. It's just like an ordinary park, but it's filled with thousand year old tombs and monuments that are truly inspirational.
10. India Gate - The war memorial is one of the landmarks of Delhi and resembles the famous Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
11. Jantar Mantar - The Jantar Mantar complex is a compound that houses 13 different astronomy instruments. The structures are confusing to look at, but if you read or follow a guide (or audio guide) you'll understand how each instrument functioned.
12. Qutub Minar - Just like Akshardham Temple, Qutub Minar is one of the top things to do in Delhi, it's truly remarkable. The minaret is the main attraction, a huge pillar of red carved sandstone that towers above the ancient ruins in the complex.
13. Humayun's Tomb - One of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Delhi is Humayun's Tomb, built in Mughal Islamic architecture.
14. Tomb of Safdarjung - Very similar to Humayun's tomb is the tomb of Safdarjung. What I really liked is that there were no other tourists the day I went so it was quite and peaceful.
15. Red Fort - Located near Chandni Chowk in Old Delhi is the Red Fort. It's an entire walled in city where you can walk around the browse the many buildings within the walls.
16. Raj Ghat - The Raj Ghat is a memorial park dedicated to Gandhi.
17. Chandni Chowk & Chawri Bazar - The liveliest and busiest area of Delhi is Chandni Chowk and Chawri Bazar. I think it's possible to purchase anything from the entire world in this area, and you'll also find lots of delicious food.
18. Dilli Haat - This handicraft village was set up by the Delhi tourism authority and it's a decent place to purchase souvenirs or high quality crafts. You'll also find a food court that contains canteens serving food from all over India.
19. Connaught Place (Rajiv Chowk) - Known for short as just CP is a huge series of roundabouts and is the central modern business district of Delhi. Within the area you'll find all sorts of shops, famous restaurants and the Palika Bazar, an underground shopping center.
20. Paharganj (Main Bazar) - The main bazar is located just west of the New Delhi railroad station and it's an old area of town where you'll find a market and lots of budget accommodation options.
21. Delhi Street Food - Eating street food is one of the best things to do in Delhi, you'll love it.

We were charged 1,500 rupees only to find out that we could have used the prepaid taxi service just outside the terminal for 500 rupees. Something to remember for next time! :)
We stayed at the New Delhi Railway branch of the Ginger Hotel chain. It's located just 200 meters from the Ajmeri Gate side of the train station, which is convenient for early departures or late arrivals. The hotel is affordable and clean, although the flusher on our toilet didn't work very well. The restaurant has good options for all meals. We want to note that there is a significant amount of noise pollution from the train station - constant honking! If you're a light sleeper, you might want to find a hotel further away from the train station.
We only slept for 2.5 hours and were impressed that we managed to stay out and active the whole day. After spending the morning walking around the backpacker-friendly Pahar Ganj neighborhood (on the opposite side of the train station from Ginger Hotel), we pooled our resources with friends to hire a car and driver for the afternoon, which cost 1,800 rupees total for four hours. Hiring a car and driver is definitely the way to go for sightseeing in Delhi, especially if you're short on time like we were. The city is huge, traffic can get very congested, and a car and driver are relatively affordable.
Because we got a late start to our driving tour, we only managed to see three tourist sites: Red Fort, Raj Ghat, and India Gate. Raj Ghat was especially beautiful. It's the site of Mahatma Gandhi's final resting place. The park areas at Raj Ghat are lovely! If you're not pressed for time, we recommend taking a picnic and staying for a while. ;)
We went to Connaught Place for dinner. The area is filled great restaurants and as well as a famous bakery, Wenger's. We were pretty exhausted by dinner, so we opted to return to the hotel early as opposed to exploring the neighborhood at night. But it looked like a happening place!
The next morning, we woke up at 4:30 am to catch our train to Agra, home of Taj Mahal! Looking forward to sharing that vlog!
As always, thank you for watching!!
And happy travels!! :D

The first thrilling investigative series on Indian Television, is today one of the most popular shows on Sony Entertainment Television. Dramatic and absolutely unpredictable, C.I.D. has captivated viewers over the last eleven years and continues to keep audiences glued to their television sets with its thrilling plots and excitement. Also interwoven in its fast paced plots are the personal challenges that the C.I.D. team faces with non-stop adventure, tremendous pressure and risk, all in the name of duty. The series consists of hard-core police procedural stories dealing with investigation, detection and suspense. The protagonists of the serial are an elite group of police officers belonging to the Crime Investigation Department of the police force, led by ACP Pradyuman [played by the dynamic Shivaji Satam]. While the stories are plausible, there is an emphasis on dramatic plotting and technical complexities faced by the police. At every stage, the plot throws up intriguing twists and turns keeping the officers on the move as they track criminals, led by the smallest of clues.

Megastructures Delhi IGI Airport Terminal 3 National Geographic Construction Documentary
Indira Gandhi International Airport is the primary international airport of the National Capital Region of Delhi, India, situated in Palam, 15 km (9.3 mi) south-west of the New Delhi railway station and 16 km (9.9 mi) from New Delhi city centre. Named after Indira Gandhi, a former Prime Minister of India, it is the busiest airport in India. With the commencement of operations at the new Terminal 3, it became India's and South Asia's largest aviation hub, with a current capacity of handling more than 46 million passengers. IGIA along with Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, together handle more than half of the aircraft movements in South Asia. The airport's operator, Delhi International Airport Private Limited (DIAL), is looking to make the airport the next international transit hub.
Spread over an area of 6,300 acres (2,500 ha) of land, Delhi airport serves as the primary civilian aviation hub for the National Capital Region of India. It was previously operated by the Indian Air Force before its management was transferred to the Airports Authority of India. In May 2006, the management of the airport was passed over to Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), a consortium led by the GMR Group.
In 2011–12, the airport handled 35.88 million passengers and the planned expansion program will increase its capacity to handle 100 million passengers by 2030. The new Terminal 3 building has had the capacity to handle an additional 34 million passengers annually since the start of the 2010 Commonwealth Games.Terminal 3 is the world's 8th largest passenger terminal. In September 2008, the airport inaugurated a 4,430 m (14,530 ft) runway. In 2010, Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) was conferred the fourth best airport award in the world in the 15–25 million category, and Best Improved Airport in the Asia-Pacific Region by Airports Council International. In years 2012,2013 and 2014, the IGIA was ranked the second-best airport in the world in the 25–40 million passengers category, again by Airports Council International. Also in 2011 (the last year that full statistics from ACI are available), the airport was the 34th busiest in the world with 34,729,467 passengers handled, registering a 17.8% growth in traffic over the previous year. The airport uses an advanced system called Airport Collaborative Decision Making (A-CDM) to help keep takeoffs and landings timely and predictable.
Designed by HOK working in consultation with Mott MacDonald, the new Terminal 3 is a two-tier building spread over an area of 20 acres (8.1 ha), with the bottom floor being the arrivals area, and the top being a departures area. This terminal has 168 check-in counters, 78 aerobridges at 48 contact stands, 54 parking bays, 95 immigration counters, 15 X-ray screening areas, for less waiting times, duty-free shops, and other features.Over 90% of passengers will use this terminal when completed. This new terminal had been completed in time for the 2010 Commonwealth Games, which were held in Delhi, and will be connected to Delhi by an eight-lane motorway (National Highway 8), and the Delhi Metro. The terminal was officially inaugurated on 3 July 2010, and there were nine flights to test the operational readiness of the new terminal and its ground handling capabilities. All international airlines shifted their operations to the new terminal in late July 2010, and all full service domestic carriers mid November onwards. The arrival area is equipped with 14 baggage carousels.
Opened in 2010, Terminal 3, a state-of-the-art and integrated future terminal, is the 24th largest building in the worldand 8th largest passenger terminal. It occupies an area of 502,000 m2 (5,400,000 sq ft), with a capacity to handle 34 million passengers annually.T3 has India's first automated parking management and guidance system in a multi level car park, which comprises 7 levels and a capacity of 4,300 carsTerminal 3 will form the first phase of the airport expansion in which a 'U' shaped building will be developed in a modular manner. In 2010, all international and full service domestic carriers started operating from Terminal 3, while Terminal 1 is dedicated to low cost operations. In subsequent stages, the low cost carriers will also move to the new terminal complex.
The much awaited go ahead for the domestic airlines to start operations from the new T3 terminal has been given. After passing many hurdles Air India which is also the national carrier started its domestic operations from the new T3 terminal from 11 November 2010. Two other airlines, Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines, moved their domestic operations to the new terminal on 14 November 2010. Terminal 1D is now used exclusively by low cost carrier airlines including GoAir.

Traveling Tips for India (New Delhi, India Travel Video)
With some great travel tips, Udayan helps you navigate through the exciting and overwhelming India.
What are some practical and useful tips you should know when traveling to New Delhi, India or another city in India?
Despite India developing rapidly, it still does not have most of the infrastructure and amenities that are so common in the western world. Following a few handy travel tips might make travel for you a whole lot easier while you are in India.
First, if you are taking a taxi from the airport, make sure it is a registered taxi. The best option is to take a prepaid taxi. If that is not available, you should fix the price or make sure that the meter is working. Do not wait till reaching your destination for deciding on the price even if your driver insists on doing so. This applies not only the transportation from the airport but any transportation in gerneral.
If you are traveling within India there are quite a few transportation options available. In India transportation ranges from the pragmatic to the imaginative. Within Delhi the metros the best way to travel. So if you are going somewhere, check if there is a metro route that can get you there. For short distances autos are generally a good bet. Unless the meter is not working. In which case you should find out what the correct rate is from the hotel you are staying at or from the person you are staying with.
If you plan to be sight seeing throughout the day, it is probably a good idea to get an air conditioned cab like this one. Especially so if it is summer. These cabs are generally cheap but check on the prices with your hotel or with the person you are staying with. Just incase. You might want to rent your own car to drive around here. But if you are not used to the streets in Delhi, it is not a recommended option. Always try and get bottled water instead of tap water in this country. Bottled water is widely available. But when you are buying it make sure that the top is sealed.
India has some great street food. But travelers should avoid eating it. If you are really keen, there is some upscale resturants that serve traditional fast food, that is actually hygenic. India has the finest hotels in the whole world. You will find attention and service here of levels far receding often those, even in the West. People here, from the concierge to the bell boy, will be more than willing to help you, even with your smallest bits of luggage. However, there is a slight catch. They all want to be tipped. Fortunately ten or tweenty rupee notes will do the trick, sometimes.
This here is a tweenty rupee note. This is a ten rupee note. This is hundred and this is five hundred. It is always a good idea to have as many as possible of these, that is a ten rupee ad a tweenty rupee note, for tipping and for just about everything else. When you ask somebody for dirrections it is always a good idea to ask somebody else, just to confirm. It is not that somebody wants to give you wrong dirrections or wants to ruin your day, it is just that sometimes people want to be way too helpful.
Most upscale and midscale hotels in the country provide you with basic accessories, like tissue paper and toilet paper. However, if you are putting up in one of those cheaper or small town accomodations you might not want to take these things for granted. All these essentials are available widely across the country. In general stores like the one behind my back. In India, getting your laundry done is not a hastle at all. Laundry takes a day. And the shirts can be ironed within the space of a few minutes. You need not worry about your laundry because it will not take more than a dollar. Getting your shirts wrinkled up is not too much of a hastle.
Always bargin in the market place. Unless you are in a fixed price shop. It is not a good idea to give beggers around the place money. Even if you are tempted too. It just incourages the wrong sort of placement. And anyways the money always goes to someone else and not exactly the person you paid the money. Avoid going to quiet and lonely areas if you are a woman. Dressing conservative is probably the best option. Medical help here is cheaper than any place else and widely available, at least in the cities. However, get a medical refference, like you get anywhere else, before you go to the facility.
When you are traveling back, I will equate enough time to make sure that you get to the airport on time. Even when you travel back late at night you are likely to encounter a traffic jam. Especially when you are traveling from central Delhi to say the airport. Take about an hour at hand but buffer some time in for traffic jams. With these tips you can enjoy a more comfortable, safer and healthier stay in the country. And get around to what is the most important, enjoying the immense beauty and culture you find here. This is Udayan showing you India.

India Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination India.
India is a subcontinent with a long history, a land of legend, fantasy and reality.A country that extends from the Himalayas in the north to the semi-desert terrain and tropics of the south. A place of incredible contrasts and fascinating splendour. Delhi is the political and administrative capital of India and a melting pot of both culture and religion. A constantly expanding metropolis built on the site of twelve former cities and centre of power for almost a thousand years. Jama Masjid, the Friday Mosque, is one of ancient Delhi’s main landmarks that was bequeathed to the city by the mogul king, Shah Jahan and close to the mosque is the bazaar district of Chandni Chowk, a busy commercial area. The white temples of Ranakpur are the sanctuaries of the Jains and are situated in a picturesque valley to the west of the Aravalli Mountains north of Udaipur. At around the same time that Buddhism was introduced to the area, Jainism also arrived, the religion of the country’s great hero, Mahavira. Rajasthan is the Land Of The Maharajas in all its splendour, a living fairytale beneath the desert sky. Agra was once the imposing metropolis of the mogul monarchy and today the city has lost nothing of its mediaeval atmosphere. Calcutta, or Kolkata, as it has been known since 2001, is the capital of West Bengal and also the second largest city in India. A city of contrasts that could not be more striking. Each morning hundreds of people go to the Howrah Bridge to bathe on the banks of the Hooghly River, a tributary of the sacred River Ganges. In 1853 Bombay had its first railroad and the Indian rail network was soon extended. The Victoria Terminus was built, one of the most impressive train stations in the world. Incredible India, a remarkable country that has always fascinated travellers by the amazing diversity of its people, culture and landscapes.

Ayurvedic Spa - See how ayurveda massage is performed in an ayurvedic resort in New Delhi, India.
Kairali Resorts, just outside Delhi, provides ayurvedic services to its customers. "Ayurveda is an Indian traditional science, it is a science where it treats the body. It does not treat the disease, it treats the body as a whole. It has two aspects in it, the wellness, that is the preventive aspect of Ayurveda, and the curative aspect."
Ayurveda is a form of an alternative medicine that has been used in parts of India for over centuries now. The emphasis is on physical, mental and spiritual harmony. I am now going to start the treatments and the first one they are going to begin with is Abhyangam, followed by the two that is bundle massage and Shirodhara.
"Simple treatment like Abhyangam which is a general body massage. It starts from top to toe massaging the body with two people synchronizingly massaging the body for a period of 45 minutes. Followed by Shirodhara. That is a popular treatment." And now I will be going for my head massage which is basically very imperative even for any treatment, be it Abhyangam, be it the Bundle massage or be it Shirodhara.
"The next of it Shirodhara, which is pouring of the oil on the forehead continuously and your body is take care of." You do not know how they work it, but it is such a beautiful sensation on your forehead, must try for everybody visiting India, especially Delhi. I am Pinky Nigam showing you Delhi.

The Samjhauta Express commonly called the Friendship Express, is a twice-weekly train – Tuesdays and Fridays – that runs between Delhi and Attari in India and Lahore in Pakistan. The word samjhauta means "agreement","accord" and "compromise" in both Hindi and Urdu.
Until the reopening of the Thar Express, this was the only rail connection between the two countries. The train was started on 22 July 1976 following the Shimla Agreement and ran between Amritsar and Lahore, a distance of about 42 km. Following disturbances in Punjab in the late eighties, due to security reasons Indian Railways decided to terminate the service at Attari, where customs and immigration clearances take place. On 14 April 2000, in an agreement between Indian Railways and Pakistan Railways (PR), the distance was revised to cover just under three km.
It was a daily train when the service started, and changed to a bi-weekly schedule in 1994. Earlier the rakes were returned to the home country the same day but later in 2000 the rake remained overnight at that location.
Its termini are Lahore in Pakistan and Delhi in India. The border crossing takes place between Wagah in Pakistan and Attari in India. Originally, this was a through service with the same rake going all the way between the termini; later the Pakistani rake stopped at Attari at which point passengers had to change trains.
Now there is a train from Delhi to Attari where all passengers alight for customs and immigration. This train does not have any commercial stops between Delhi and Attari. It is incorrectly referred to as the Samjhauta Express and it is officially known as the Delhi-Attari or Attari-Delhi Express. The actual Samjhauta Express runs from Attari to Lahore, although the passengers are checked at Wagah, the first station on the Pakistani side. The train service was set up with an agreement between Indian Railways (IR) and Pakistan Railways (PR) to alternately use an Indian and a Pakistani rake and locomotive for the train, six months at a time.
The train usually has between four and eight coaches. The rake supplied by Pakistan is usually hauled by an Alco DL-543 class ALU20 diesel loco (Lahore shed), with the entire train in the standard dark green livery of PR.
The train's first break of service was when it was discontinued on 1 January 2002 in the wake of the terrorist attack on the Indian Parliament on 13 December 2001. Service resumed on 15 January 2004. Service was also suspended following the 27 December 2007, assassination of Benazir Bhutto as a preventive measure to deny militants a "high-value target" that was of great symbolic importance to both India and Pakistan.

New Delhi Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi Express: Full Journey Compilation
Presenting a full journey compilation of the journey between Delhi and Amritsar from the Amritsar Swarn Shatabdi Express. This Shatabdi runs with IRY coaches and covers the 448 kilometre distance between New Delhi and Amritsar in 6 hours and 20 minutes, at an average speed of 70 kmph and a maximum permissible speed of 110 kmph, with 6 intermediate halts. It is possible the sole Shatabdi Express to ply with 3 AC Executive Chair Cars, in addition to about 13 AC Chair Cars.
This compilation covers the Shatabdi's rapid run through the plains of Haryana and Punjab. The Shatabdi maintains a fantastic pace as it zips through relatively large stations such as Panipat, Kurukshetra, Sirhind and Phillaur. The rapid pace of the Shatabdi can also be gauged from the fact that it outruns every single vehicle on the adjacent national highway.
Powered by a Ghaziabad WAP5, there are some high speed encounters on the way, notably with the WAP7 hauled Kalka Shatabdi, the WAP7 hauled Paschim Express, and the WDM3A hauled Amritsar Haridwar Jan Shatabdi.
Enroute Amritsar, we cross two of the five major rivers which gives Punjab its name: namely Sutlej after Ludhiana, and the Beas, midway between Jalandhar and Amritsar. The latter had a fair bit of water in it, making for a lovely sight. Another point of interest is the heavy industrialization of the Punjab, post Ambala. One hardly gets to see a non-permanent structure in the form of dwellings and a number of houses even in apparently rural areas are at least two stories high.
