Kunduz (Pashto: کندز; Persian: قندوز) also known as Kundûz, Qonduz, Qondûz, Konduz, Kondûz, Kondoz, or Qhunduz is a city in northern Afghanistan, the capital of Kunduz Province. The city is located in the historical region of Bactria. It is linked by highways with Mazari Sharif to the west, Kabul to the south and Tajikistan's border to the north. In the 1979 census, Kunduz had a population of 53,251 people, which is now estimated to have risen to 250,000 (2006 official estimate). Kunduz is located at 36.7290N, 68.8570°E, at an elevation of 391 meters above sea level.
The name of the city is derived from Persian compound, kuhan/quhan diz, "old/ancient fort."
Interestingly, until 1960s, the city served as the capital to the now-defunct province of Qataqan, itself meaning "Old/Ancient city" (from Turkic kata ("old/ancient') and Eastern Iranian (Sogdian) kand, "fort", "town".
Kunduz is the site of the ancient city of Drapsaka. It was a great center of Buddhist learning and very prosperous during the 3rd century AD.

KUNDUZ, AFGHANISTAN — The U.S. launched an airstrike on the Afghan key city of Kunduz after its fall to the Taliban on Monday, the Washington Post reported.
The Taliban launched an offensive into Kunduz from four different directions on Monday before dawn, capturing a 200-bed hospital and breaking into the city's main prison. Hundreds of imprisoned fighters were freed.
By the evening, the insurgents had also captured the governor's compound and provincial police headquarters.
In response, the U.S. launched an airstrike on the city early Tuesday. At the same time, the Afghan government said it had deployed hundreds of fresh troops and launched an operation on several fronts to try to retake Kunduz, the BBC reported.
According to the Washington Post, the seizure of Kunduz would give the Taliban a key base of operations in the north of the country, beyond their traditional strongholds in the south.

Karakol - Black Hands On Issyk-Kul (Timelapse)

When I arrived in Karakol, I got a bunk in an eight-bed room. I was by myself, the only two other guests in the hostel were from Switzerland and Uzbekistan. Over the next few days, I made noodles that tasted like crap, I made vareniki that tasted a bit better, and finally I made pelmeni that tasted okay. I drank huge amounts of kvass.
When I went out, I found out that Karakol felt a bit like Kansas: wide avenues, single-storeyed houses with fences in front of them, crumbling plaster here and there and some vacant stores, but also a few well-kept houses with flowers in their front yards.
One time I saw two kids eyeing me from behind a tree when I was walking by. I figured it was a game where we would tail each other, so I also hid behind a tree and spied on them. They were very confused.
Another time I got lost in the mountains. I was resting on a pasture, looking at the sunset and at the clouds hovering over the mountains, when darkness covered the land. I walked back on twisting paths, and when I passed a road, I asked a driver for directions. He told me to avoid a certain area, because there were supposed to be bad people there. So I turned around.
There was another path, and it was absolutely dark. I was wearing my flashlight on my head, and suddenly two shiny dots appeared in front of me. Where they green or blue? Or yellow? They were moving, and after a while they turned out to be the eyes of a horse. The rider showed me the way to a factory where I found a lady called Marina She was working the nightshift burning bricks. There were holes in the ground, there was glowing coal to be put into the holes, and there was a shovel.
It felt like 100 years ago.
"Do you know how old our factory is?" she asked me. It was eighty years old, from the Soviet era. Marina was chubby and cheerful, she looked a bit older than thirty-eight, and her daughter was fourteen and had just started studying German. She showed me a nice new brick. "This is what houses are built with," she said.
I stood there, looking at the brick in her hands that were dark from handling the coal, and I suddenly remembered what the name "Karakol" was supposed to mean in Kyrgyz: black hand.
This footage was taken in October 2014 in and around Karakol, the biggest town on the shores of Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan. (GPS: 42°29'1.02"N 78°24'6.25"E)

A: On a campaign operation night, two task forces take part in a conjoined set of missions to achieve a larger goal in a continuing campaign with supporting back story. This translates to roughly 120 units playing.
Q: What happens if you die?
A: If you are KIA, you have the opportunity to be re-inserted as a replacement, but not into your original position. For example, a squad lead who dies can become a rifleman and the 2ic will take over for the remainder of the mission.
Q: What mods do you use?
A: AiATP, RHS Escalation, CBA A3, TFAR, AGM, cTab, FHQ Accessories, ASDG Joint Rails, DAR MAXXPROs, grace weapon sway fix, mrb A3 Voice Stop, Robert Hammer Pistols, Sweet Markers, Switch Weapons While Moving

German troops have returned to Kunduz Province under NATO command to counter the increasing threat posed by foreign insurgents operating in the area. German spirits are high after a quiet tour which has seen them build positive relations with the locals. The Germans prepare to hand over to British and US forces but before they do, they offer to take a small UKSF contingent out with them on a routine foot patrol to show them the lie of the land before the main body of troops arrive.
