Follow us on TWITTER: http://twitter.com/cnforbiddennews Like us on FACEBOOK: http://www.facebook.com/chinaforbiddennews British Reuters published a Special Report on Dec. 31, 2014 which says although the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) can’t politically tame Hong Kong, it is tightening control over Hong Kong’s business circle and colonizing the economy. Chinese enterprises are increasing in numbers in many key industries in Hong Kong. The report says one of the most telling signs of change is how much space mainland Chinese companies lease. These companies account for over 50% of new leases signed for offices, which is much higher than the 20% in 2012. Mainland occupancy of 25 key prime office spaces, in the districts of Central, Admiralty, Sheung Wan and Wan Chai increased from 13 percent in 2008 to 21 percent in 2014. Hong Kong’s 88-floor International Finance Centre has a growing number of mainland companies on the list; These include China Development Bank International Holdings Ltd, opened in 2011. It’s an offshore investment firm of China Development Bank. Mainland companies also occupy significant amounts of Hong Kong’s land. The Reuters report says three of the six available plots sold in Kai Tak district went to Chinese firms. Two went to China Overseas Land & Investment, and one went to Poly Property Group. Mainland firms keep on being listed on the Hong Kong stock market. They now account for 54 percent of the companies traded on the Hang Seng Index. Wu Fan, political commentator, “It (CCP) sets the global RMB exchange center in Hong Kong. The CCP recently opened the Shanghai-Hong Kong Stock Connect, connecting Hong Kong’s stock market and mainland Chinese A-shares. What’s its purpose? It’s to control Hong Kong. Hong Kong has been a free market for over 100 years. It has its brand. It’s the biggest stock market in the Far East. [The CCP] wants to take full advantage of it. Lots of foreign investment comes to Hong Kong, and the CCP wants to occupy this platform.” Professor Xie Tian at Business School of University of South Carolina indicated that the CCP tries to control Hong Kong politically through controlling its economy. Professor Xie Tian said, “We have seen that the Chinese companies have had effects on this student movement in Hong Kong. They have supported the anti-umbrella movement people. Chinese holding companies directly threatened students and citizens participating in the umbrella movement. The most direct consequence of Chinese companies in Hong Kong is strangling freedom of Hong Kong people.” The Reuters report says many Hong Kong industries have been dominated by business tycoons for decades, such as Asia's richest man Li Ka-shing, casino tycoon Lui Che Woo, and palm oil tycoon Robert Kuok. But now, these people are witnessing mainland Chinese enterprises invading Hong Kong. Wu Fan, “Why did Li Ka-shing sell his properties in mainland China and his enterprises and properties in Hong Kong? [It’s because] he’s leaving Hong Kong. It means Hong Kong people ruling Hong Kong is just an empty shell. Mainland China has seen over a million immigrants to Hong Kong in the past 17 years, and they are all rich. They slowly take the place of Hong Kong’s original capitalists, and then rule Hong Kong. This is how the CCP controlled Hong Kong in the past for over a decade.” The report also says Beijing has clearly indicated that the key of economic integration is to enhance sovereignty over Hong Kong. Beijing’s goal is to include Hong Kong in the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone. Chinese banks opened nearly 500 branches in Hong Kong, accounting for 40% of all branch banks in Hong Kong. Wu Fan indicated that the purpose of the CCP controlling Hong Kong in all aspects is to prevent Hong Kong from becoming an anti-CCP base. Wu Fan, “In the past 10 years, to control Hong Kong people, mainland China supplies water, electricity, food including fish, meat, eggs, and almost everything for Hong Kong. It has occupied Hong Kong’s retail market, controlling the society. After [the CCP] controlled Hong Kong, it established a Hong Kong, Macau, and Shenzhen economic zone. Hong Kong has lost its features. Freedom and democracy in Hong Kong is gradually fading.” The report says economic integration doesn’t always promote understanding, but sometimes triggers tensions.

Larry Earl Schweikart (born April 21, 1951 in Mesa, Arizona) is an American historian and professor of history at the University of Dayton. He is the author of more than a dozen books; his best known popular book is A Patriot's History of the United States (2004). Born in Mesa, Arizona to a cattle ranching family, Schweikart went to Arizona State University, where he also completed an M.A. He earned his Ph.D. in history from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1984.[2] By the time he had graduated, Schweikart had already written two books and several academic articles as a graduate student. After a year in the University of Wisconsin system, he took a position at the University of Dayton, where he has remained. Schweikart graduated from Arizona State University in 1972 with a B.A. in Political science. He entered the ASU Master's program in 1977, writing a national Phi Alpha Theta prize-winning article on the Peary diaries.[4] He wrote in 2002: "In 1976 I took a history class from Robert Loewenberg at Arizona State University. He introduced me to Aristotle, Leo Strauss, and Eric Voegelin. I became a historian and in the early 1980s was overwhelmed by the writing of George Gilder on economics and Paul Johnson on history. I emulate them in my writing. But I have never given up the dream of writing for a more `pop' audience and keep submitting work to mainstream magazines."[3] He received his M.A. in History in 1980. He then received a Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1983. Schweikart took a one-year position at the University of Wisconsin–Richland Center, then, in 1985, received an appointment to the University of Dayton. There he taught business and economic history, then military history. He is a full professor, and in 1987 was honored for outstanding scholarship.[3] In 1999 he published a history of American business, The Entrepreneurial Adventure. In 2004 he co-authored the book, A Patriot's History of the United States with Michael Allen. In 2006, he published America's Victories. In 2008, he published 48 Liberal Lies About American History. This documentary explores the rise of the farm to fork movement in South Carolina, and highlights some of the folks who are working hard to promote and produce fresh, good tasting, safe, local foods. The rise of "locavorism" leads people to shop for food grown in their community for what "locavores" consider a healthy and safe food source, that wasn't shipped from across the country, or from a foreign country. This film introduces you to some of the local characters that are growing, cooking, and buying our state's bounty of fresh vegetables and meat. The film's narrator, Erin Eisele, leads you on an intimate journey as she gets to know and understand what makes these folks passionate about what they do to strengthen and support farming in our state. Special thanks to the film's creator, Dr. Buz Kloot, for his never ending energy, insight, and vision. This project was created through an outreach agreement between SC USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service and the University of SC-Earth Sciences and Resources Institute. The city lies just south of the geographical midpoint of South Carolina's coastline and is located on Charleston Harbor, an inlet of the Atlantic Ocean formed by the confluence of the Ashley and Cooper rivers. Founded in 1670 as Charles Towne in honor of King Charles II of England, Charleston adopted its present name in 1783. It moved to its present location on Oyster Point in 1680 from a location on the west bank of the Ashley River known as Albemarle Point. By 1690, Charles Towne was the fifth largest city in North America,[4] and it remained among the ten largest cities in the United States through the 1840 census.[5] With a 2010 census population of 120,080 (and a 2012 estimate of 125,583), current trends put Charleston as the fastest-growing municipality in South Carolina. The Charleston Metropolitan area, comprising Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties, population was counted by the 2012 estimate at 697,439 -- the second largest in the state -- and the 78th-largest metropolitan statistical area in the United States. Known for its rich history, well-preserved architecture, distinguished restaurants, and mannerly people, Charleston has received a large number of accolades, including "America's Most Friendly [City]" by Travel + Leisure in 2011 and in 2013 by Condé Nast Traveler, and also "the most polite and hospitable city in America" by Southern Living magazine... After Charles II of England (1630--1685) was restored to the English throne following Oliver Cromwell's Protectorate, he granted the chartered Province of Carolina to eight of his loyal friends, known as the Lords Proprietors, on March 24, 1663. It took seven years before the group arranged for settlement expeditions. The first of these founded Charles Towne, in 1670. The community was established under the leadership of governor William Sayle on the west bank of the Ashley River, a few miles northwest of the present day city center... By the mid-18th century Charles Towne had become a bustling trade center, the hub of the Atlantic trade for the southern colonies. Charles Towne was also the wealthiest and largest city south of Philadelphia. By 1770, it was the fourth largest port in the colonies, after Boston, New York, and Philadelphia; with a population of 11,000—slightly more than half of them slaves... As the relationship between the colonists and Britain deteriorated, Charles Towne became a focal point in the ensuing American Revolution. It was twice the target of British attacks... Although the city lost the status of state capital to Columbia, Charleston became even more prosperous in the plantation-dominated economy of the post-Revolutionary years. The invention of the cotton gin in 1793 revolutionized the production of this crop, and it quickly became South Carolina's major export commodity... On December 20, 1860, following the election of Abraham Lincoln, the South Carolina General Assembly voted to secede from the Union... In 1865, Union troops moved into the city and took control of many sites... On August 31, 1886, Charleston was nearly destroyed by an earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale... SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- South Carolina is one of several states speaking openly about the spread of the Ebola virus to calm the public's concerns. On Thursday, the state's health department held a news conference to address some of those questions. DHEC officials say their statewide trauma network is ready to handle the possible arrival of an Ebola patient. DHEC says the medical University of South Carolina in Charleston has agreed to provide ongoing care to any Ebola patients in the state. Doctors and nurses there will volunteer to care for Ebola patients. DHEC also says MUSC has been trained and equipped with everything they need to handle Ebola. Although President Obama says the danger of a serious outbreak in America is "extraordinary low", local health agencies are preparing for the worst. This is especially true after the second case in the US turned out to be a nurse at Texas Presbyterian Hospital who treated the first patient. South Carolina health officials like Catherine Templeton, the DHEC director, say they're addressing those concerns with a statewide emergency communications network that includes responders from firefighters to doctors and hospitals. "We are going to see more cases in the United States, but we are going to do everything we can to contain those cases," Templeton said. "We are not West Africa. We have this. We have a robust, trained, emergency management system that can really work to contain this." They are equipped with an isolation unit will transport possible Ebola patients to the medical university of South Carolina in Charleston. DHEC also has a trauma network that includes hospitals from the upstate and it expects them to come on board in the next 24 to 48 hours. Chief medical officer at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Dr. Chris Lombardozzi says his facility is prepared. "Hospitals like ours are well prepared to deal with infectious disease outbreaks," Dr. Lombardozzi said. "And quite frankly we deal with outbreaks like flu almost every year. So we do things like this on a regular basis. We're ready for it." DHEC says they're working with US Customs to identify anyone who travels into South Carolina from West Africa noting that there are no direct flights, so following that paper trail is proving difficult. Templeton says the procedure for anyone who has been to west Africa and presents symptoms of Ebola like a high fever is simple: -Identify the possible case. -Isolate that person. -Communicate with DHEC so they are immediately aware.

For more than 40 years, Lawrence Irick has been without a driver's license. Assuming he's too old now to get a license, the Holly Hill, SC, man rides his bicycle. He cycles to the grocery store, to the station to get gas for his lawnmower; but if it rains, he stays home. COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Two people were shot and killed following what's being called a murder-suicide on the campus of the University of South Carolina, according to the State Law Enforcement Division. SLED says the shooting appears to be an isolated incident. The bodies of two people were found inside the New School of Public Health building on Assembly Street near College Street. The victims' names have not yet been released by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts. Police from several agencies were called to respond to a report of a shooting just after 1 p.m. Thursday. SLED spokesman Thom Berry says there was no threat of an active shooter. A campus-wide alert was sent to students at about 1:20 p.m. through CarolinaAlert. The alert said shots were fired at the Arnold School of Public Health. Students, staff and faculty were warned to seek shelter immediately. Police blocked off the streets in the area of College, Assembly and Park streets and people were warned to stay away from the area. The SWAT team was called to the scene. About an hour later, the CarolinaAlert system sent out another message saying the threat was over. Police have closed the Arnold School of Public Health while investigators gather evidence. The shooting occurred in a building that's at a busy intersection of downtown Columbia, not far from the State House and other major businesses. People in the State House were warned to stay indoors. The grounds were not on lockdown, but security officers at the State House said they checked buildings and patrolled the area. A university official says classes will be held as scheduled Thursday except for those in the building where the shooting occurred. The ACC sponsors competition in twenty-five sports with many of its member institutions' athletic programs held in high regard nationally. Also posted on http://www.thecharlestonadventure.com This is a quick tour around Charleston South Carolina showing some of the things to do in Charleston that await visitors to this magnificent and historic city. Charleston South Carolina, A city of history, hospitality, and a heaping dose of good ole southern charm. Hi I'm Carl In this short video you'll see Charleston come alive and you'll understand why one magazine recently voted it the number one tourist destination in all of America. Something I've known for years. One of the best ways to learn about Charleston's past is to take a tour. And one of the fun ways to tour the city.... is in a horse drawn carriage. That's exactly what I did on a recent visit. As Kevin, supplied the.... uh horsepower, our knowledgable guide entertained and informed us with many interesting tidbits regarding Charleston's rich history, a city whose beginning dates back more than a hundred years before the founding of America. Add in the picture perfect weather we enjoyed, and you've got the recipe for an experience that's hard to beat. If exercise is more your style, one of the many walking tours may better suit your needs. Charleston's downtown business and residential districts are compact and perfect for a relaxed and entertaining walk as you appreciate the history and beauty all around you. At some point in your visit, you'll probably find yourself meandering through City Market, as will most of Charleston's 4 million annual visitors. This Charleston landmark has been around since the 1790's. Today from among the hundreds of local vendors, you can find just the right item to purchase and keep as a souvenir or to give as that special gift. The city of Charleston proper boasts 90 properties listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with another 96 in the remaining parts of the county. As you witness the variety of these restored treasures, you'll appreciate why Charleston was considered the cultural center of the antebellum South. Since we're talking historical homes, make sure you stroll along East Battery street toward White Point Garden. You'll enjoy the beauty of the magnificent row of stately antebellum homes that line the street to your right as Charleston harbor splashes against the battery seawall on which you walk. Charleston's visitors also enjoy the city by water. There are numerous Harbor tours where one can get a better sense of Charleston's skyline, and with an evening cruise, enjoy a beautiful sunset as well. Another harbor treat is to view the Ravenel bridge up close and personal. This Charleston landmark doesn't have the history that attracts so many to the Holy City, having been completed less than a decade ago, but it makes up for its newcomer status by its sheer size, spanning two and a half miles in length, and rising to the majestic height of 575 feet. This 8 lane engineering marvel connects downtown Charleston to Mt Pleasant, and one day a year, 40 thousand runners use it for their own personal highway in what's known as the Cooper River Bridge Run. And who could visit Charleston and not take the boat to Fort Sumter, the scene of the first battle of the war between the States. After a 30 minute narrated cruise, you'll step foot on the very soil where America's most bloody war began. Once on site National Park Service Rangers will provide more details of this regrettable episode in our nation's history. Charleston is also known for its Plantations. You'd be hard pressed to fully understand what makes downtown Charleston what it is without visiting and learning more about the role played by these historic and massive plantations. And while we're out and about, this is the perfect time for me to tell you that there are no less than 5 beaches within 25 miles of Charleston. Whether your accommodations are on the beach, or you simply come to spend a peaceful sun drenched day, it's the perfect complement to your downtown Charleston adventure. Did I hear someone say shopping? Just so you know, King street was recently chosen as one of the 10 best shopping streets in the United States. Whether its antiques, art, or fashion, you'll find it all.. I say... shop on! All this activity will surely make you hungry enough to eat a horse...... oops..... sorry Kevin, my bad...... whether its fine dinning or various other award winning eateries, from barbecue to bistro, from cafe to cafeteria, from tavern to tearoom, and others too numerous to list, Charleston has it all. Then when daylight turns to darkness, you'll have to take a break from your non stop Charleston adventure. Charleston's travelers have access to some of the most elegant accommodations. Whether you're looking for historic charm, a private hideaway, or unparalleled luxury, your nights in Charleston will be as perfect as your days. Budget conscious families also have many alternatives from which to choose.

It's Do or Die Time for each of these programs, as South Carolina needs a win to qualify for a bowl game and Florida Coach Will Muschamp probably needs a win to continue as the Head Coach! To say that both teams have been disappointments is an understatement but a win can at least cheer up their fans for the next week. The Gamecocks are led by senior QB Dylan Thompson while the Gators will rest their future on freshman QB Treon Harris. This game was a typical SEC game and went down to the wire so sit back, relax, and enjoy!

Of course, with three years of footage, it's impossible to include everything that has happened. I tried to choose a little of everything to make this compilation. Let me know what you think! While I'm open to intelligent criticism, I recommend that you watch the original videos before you criticize clips in this video. Some clips may be out of context. http://greenvillelegal.com/personal-injury-attorney/ Greenville Personal Injury Lawyer explains how trial works in South Carolina... Obviously during the course of my practice, I have the opportunity to try a lot of cases in front of juries. One thing I find is that my clients often don’t understand how a trial works, so I’d like to take a minute to describe the process and explain how it works. When a case goes to trial, it means that the plaintiff has filed a lawsuit and the parties have completed discovery, and the parties have not been able to settle the case themselves. By the time a case gets to trial, the parties generally have been litigating the case for more than a year, and so they know that they have not been able to settle their case and so they will have to have a trial. The morning the trial begins, the plaintiff, defendant, and their lawyers appear in court and the judge hears in any pre-trial motions that the lawyers file in order to determine the rules or the legal framework by which the case will be tried. Then the judge qualifies the large group of citizens from whom a jury will be picked. From that large group of 60 or more people, the Clerk will randomly select 25 people or so, and from that smaller group the lawyers will have an opportunity to refuse certain jurors until a random group of 12 people are selected to serve as the jury. The lawyers then make their Opening Arguments to the jury, wherein they explain what the case is about, who they will call to testify, and what facts they intend to prove. The Plaintiff’s lawyer then begins to present his client’s case. He will call the plaintiff’s witnesses, including the plaintiff, and ask them questions under oath. The other lawyer will then have the opportunity to cross-examine the plaintiff’s witnesses. After the Plaintiff presents his case by calling all of his witnesses, the Defendant presents his case by calling his witnesses and asking them questions. The Plaintiff then has the opportunity to cross-examine these witnesses. After both sides have presented their cases, the attorneys make their Closing Arguments to the Jury. Wherein they explain to the Jury what facts were proven and how they think the Jury should find. The Judge then instructs the Jury on the law, and the Jury is asked to leave the room to deliberate and until they can render a unanimous verdict on whether the Defendant is liable to the Plaintiff, and if so, the amount of damages to which Plaintiff is entitled. This process can take as little as a day, or it can take several days depending on the case. The parties and their lawyers will be expected to attend the entire trial. My name is David Price, and my job is to try cases in front of juries. If you were injured by another person, then I want to help you. Tulsa World 2015-04-09South Carolina (i/ˌsaʊθ kærəˈlaɪnə/) is a state in the Southeastern United States. It is bordered to the north by North Carolina; to the south and west by Georgia, located across the Savannah River; and to the east by the Atlantic Ocean. Originally part of the Province of Carolina, the Province of South Carolina was one of the 13 colonies that declared independence from the British Crown during the American Revolution. The colony was originally named by King Charles II of England in honor of his father Charles I (Carolus being Latin for Charles). South Carolina was the 8th state to ratify the US Constitution and become a state which it did on May 23, 1788. South Carolina later became the first state to vote to secede from the Union which it did on December 20, 1860. It was readmitted to the United States on June 25, 1868.
South Carolina is the 40th most extensive and the 24th most populous of the 50 United States. South Carolina comprises 46 counties. The capital and largest city of the state is Columbia.
South Carolina where the Cypress grow
White pine and hemlock all seem to know
The tidal sweep through your southern marsh
The squall last night was a little harsh
Your little island lees give us shelter from the seas
Oh no, what was that, a no-ce-um attack
The sun is sinking awfully fast
Can we make it last
We can't move on by looking back
Can we make it last
South Carolina really makes a man
If The South can't do it then no one can
The morning breeze is my favorite part
Carry South Carolina deep in my heart
We'll make a family in the quiet country
Crawl off the faces
With my nonsense
And clog your ears with ashes
And boiled the sound to dry
It's not your fault you're not my hero
It's not your fault I can't make it clear enough
It's not your fault at all
Do do do
Break off my jaw
Scrape off my teeth
Pull off my leg
Drop off my load
For a quarter, you can give him a quarter
You can go into town with a reason to have an erection
I like your tatoo depiction
South Carolina
Because I've been dying
And I've been trying
For ways to get through
Days to get through
And I chew my grass
Just my grass
