A branch (UK /ˈbrɑːntʃ/ or UK /ˈbræntʃ/, US /ˈbræntʃ/) or tree branch (sometimes referred to in botany as a ramus) is a woody structural member connected to but not part of the central trunk of a tree (or sometimes a shrub). Large branches are known as boughs and small branches are known as twigs.
While branches can be nearly horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, the majority of trees have upwardly diagonal branches.
The term "twig" often refers to a terminus, while "bough" refers only to branches coming directly from the trunk.
Because of the enormous quantity of branches in the world, there are a variety of names in English alone for them. In general however, unspecific words for a branch (such as rise and rame) have been replaced by the word branch itself.
A bough can also be called a limb or arm, and though these are arguably metaphors, both are widely accepted synonyms for bough.
A crotch is an area where a trunk splits into two or more boughs.
A twig is frequently referred to as a sprig as well, especially when it has been plucked. Other words for twig include branchlet, spray, and surcle, as well as the technical terms surculus and ramulus.
Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch (born July 2, 1983) is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist and actress. During the early 2000s, she released two top-selling albums, The Spirit Room and Hotel Paper, and was subsequently nominated for the Grammy Award for Best New Artist in 2003. In 2005, she formed the country music duo The Wreckers with friend and fellow musician Jessica Harp, and produced the Grammy-nominated single "Leave the Pieces". The Wreckers disbanded in 2007 to pursue their respective solo careers. She has had several commercially successful songs, most notably winning a Grammy with Santana for "The Game of Love".
Michelle Jacquet DeSevren Branch was born on July 2, 1983, in Phoenix, Arizona, to David and Peggy Branch, six months after they were married. Her father is of Irish descent, and her mother is of Dutch Indonesian and French descent. Her siblings include an older half-brother named David and a younger sister named Nicole.
Beginning to sing at the age of three, Branch enrolled in voice lessons at Northern Arizona University when she was eight, and received her first guitar for her fourteenth birthday. After teaching herself chords, she composed her first song "Fallen" within a week of receiving her guitar. She initially attended Sedona Red Rock High School, but finished the last two years of her high school education through home schooling so that she could focus on her music career. To support Branch's interests, her parents helped her book local gigs in Sedona, AZ, and later financed her independent album Broken Bracelet. Her set list at these gigs included covers by Sheryl Crow, Lisa Loeb, Jewel, and Fleetwood Mac.
John Alec "Johnnie" Jackson (born 15 August 1982) is an English footballer currently playing for Charlton Athletic. He usually plays as a left sided midfielder but can also play as a central midfielder or a left-back.
Jackson began his career at Tottenham Hotspur in 1999, signing professional terms in 2000; however he rarely broke into the first-team, scoring once in the league in a 4–2 win at Charlton Athletic in February 2004.
During his time at White Hart Lane he spent many seasons on loan at various lower league clubs, such as Swindon Town where he scored twice, once in the league against Northampton Town, and once in the Football League Trophy against Southend United. He also went on loan to Colchester United, whom he would later join on a permanent basis. Jackson earned admiration while on loan at Coventry City when he scored the last-minute winning goal against local rivals West Bromwich Albion.
In the summer of 2006 he was released by Tottenham. He was soon signed for free by Colchester, who were recently promoted to the Championship, and whom he had played for on loan in 2003. He scored his first goal for the club in February 2007, when Colchester lost 2–1 against West Brom. In the 2007/2008 season Johnnie won the clubs Player of the year award. During the 2008–09 season with Colchester United, Jackson did not play as many games as he first hoped with a back injury that was aggravated during the 1–1 draw against Milton Keynes Dons.
Felipe Andres Coronel (born February 19, 1978), better known by the stage name Immortal Technique, is an American rapper of Afro-Peruvian descent as well as an urban activist. He was born in Lima, Peru and raised in Harlem, New York. Most of his lyrics focus on controversial issues in global politics. The views expressed in his lyrics are largely commentary on issues such as class struggle, poverty, religion, government and institutional racism.
Immortal Technique has voiced a desire to retain control over his production, and has stated in his music that record companies, not artists themselves, profit the most from mass production and marketing of music. He claimed in an interview to have sold close to 200,000 copies of his three official releases.
Coronel is African-Peruvian and was born in 1978 in a military hospital in Lima. His family emigrated in 1980 to Harlem. During his teenage years he was arrested multiple times due in part to what he has said was "selfish and childish" behavior. He attended Hunter College High School on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Shortly after enrolling in Pennsylvania State University, he was arrested and charged with assault-related offenses due to his involvement in an altercation between fellow students, the charges stemming from this incident led to him being incarcerated for a year. After being paroled, he took political science classes at Baruch College in New York City for two semesters at the behest of his father, who allowed Coronel to live with him on the condition that he go to school. Honing his rapping skills in jail, and unable to find decent wage-paying employment after his release, Coronel began selling his music on the streets of New York while battling with MCs whenever the opportunity arose. This, coupled with his victories in numerous freestyle rap competitions of the New York underground hip hop scene such as Rocksteady Anniversary, Braggin Rites and others, led to his reputation as a ferocious Battle MC.
Me and a friend went out one night
Walkin' in the street.
We talked of God and the end of the world.
I stuck my head in a fire hydrant.
The night was cool. It was around the time that the bad
ladies come out
While river rats broke windows and performed un-natural
acts.
We walked halfway across the town and sang in an
amphitheatre,
Then we walked a little further and admired some
graffiti.
Dodging cars as we crossed the highway
We sure must have looked ugly.
My shirt was soaked, the grass was wet,
I stuck head in a fire hydrant.
We talked of things in the Good Book
While there was a naked lady on TV.
She had no care, she had no shame.
she had little propellers on.
My friend he said "I cant help
But look at this naked lady's body"
I said "dear friend you got a dirty mind
Stick yr head in a fire hydrant."
Earlier that evening
I went to a banquet,
Hoping she might be there.
But she wasn't so I went to this other girl's house
Who was freaked out on drugs
So later after that
-After the first part of this song-
On my way home I drove past this other girl's house
Who would not accept my calls.
I noticed she had her light on
As I drove slowly by.
I wondered if she noticed me,
Brainwash..what a price to pay
Brainwash..when there ain't no other way
Crossed ideas and twisted fear
Chosen channels of a million tears
Strains the mind, night after night
And the price ain't really right
Brainwash..on the road to a cosmic spark
Rub ya and scrub ya until you're raw
Snake oils on the boil
And the master pitch is in a coil
Give it up with your hands in the air
No way you're ever goin nowhere
Brainwash..pick yourself up off the ground
Brainwash..saddle up on the merry-go-round
There once was a colt and they called it Morris
And it could not stop the flying horse
Thoroughbred on the wings of reason
Past the sky..the masterpiece of freedom

Forget it,
You wouldn't understand anyway
Blessedare the words 'Of my free will', The God given right to decide
Yet I am the canvas for your design, Freedom of speech redefined
I am like a voice for all your words, A weapon for your empty hands
I am like a vision yet you are blind, The prey for your serpentine
You colour my creed, brainwashed belief, A puppet that's kept on a leash
Your weakness is my strength - Your hatred's my defence
I am the saviour for your battered faith, Sacred ground you violate
A burning alter, a quest divine, Broken like the bread and the wine
No prodigal son, your will will be done, An outcast til thy kingdom come
I am the victim, the hunted, the prey
Strangled you're my tourniquet
A born bloodsucker bleeding my mind
Swallow the sight of the blind
Embody all I detest, you'd steal my last breath
Tongue-twisted til the bitter end

No one feels like me
Nothing puts me at ease
I'm twithching
In my desease
Come save me
From the zombies
Spare me
An anestheric to misery
It's not the dark that scares me
You say tears are unhealthy
They taste real to me.
How well you play you part
Where does it end
And tou start
Morbid desire
Makes me watch
To catch a glimpse
Through the brainwash
Spare me
An anestheric to misery
It's not the dark that scares me
You say tears are unhealthy
They taste good to me.
Spill them on me
Cos I need to feel
Something real
The lines become so blurry
Between ugliness and beauty.
What's cruel and what is tender?
Lately I don't remember.
How well you play you part
Where does it end
And tou start
Morbid desire
Makes me watch
To catch a glimpse
The villains and the heroes are merging
Everything is blurry
Time is standing still
The sky is switching with the ground
My world is turning upside-down
My sense of judgement seems to be compromised
You're too strong to be denied
Ooh I'm brainwashed, captivated by the fame
Oh it's taking over me now
Mighty baby, untamed lover
Ooh I'm brainwashed
Double - oh who, seven digits
Connect me to your, Sweet Center
Baby-baby, take me with you
Brainwash, brainwash
Brainwash, brainwash
You're speaking, it's so clear
But all the words are hard to hear
And I think I kind of like it that way
Mirror mirror on the wall
Says you'll catch me when I fall
I've always been the hunter
Not the other way
Now why do I feel like the prey?
Ooh I'm brainwashed, captivated by the fame
Oh it's taking over me now
Mighty baby, untamed lover
Ooh I'm brainwashed
Double - oh who, seven digits
Connect me to your, Sweet Center
Baby-baby, take me with you
Brainwash, brainwash
Brainwash, brainwash
I saw this coming, but I did nothing
I saw this (I saw this)
I want this (I want this)
Found out how to make it now
Take me over, take a vow
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
Take me over now
Ooh I'm brainwashed, captivated by the fame
Oh it's taking over me now
Mighty baby, untamed lover
Ooh I'm brainwashed
Double - oh who, seven digits
Connect me to your, Sweet Center
Baby-baby, take me with you
Brainwash, brainwash
Your fragile eyes brainwash the weak
Remaining silent so to speak
Your dizzy head and weakened bones
Play funeral dirges in skeletons (skeletons)
Brainwash my head
To clear away all the lies
That I've been forced and fed
What could have been?
What could it be?
That you saw inside of me
That you would ever give me your love
I believe the fact that God worships you
Is going straight to your head
I'm dying to feed on your disease
(And I swear I heard you say)
Drive through to the next window please
Drive through now
Brainwash my head
To clear away all the lies
That I've been forced and fed
What could have been?
What could it be?
That you saw inside of me
That you would ever give me your love
Brainwash...
All these days fade into gray
As this dying love decays
Inside this cold lobotomy
No brain activity
I'll turn to stone if I look your way
I can't look away
The sun won't shine a single ray
As we eclipse the apocalypse
I've got news for you now, sugar,
You're a real fuckin' heartbreaker
But before I lay down and die
Oh, I've got a big surprise
So go and hold out your hands
And close your eyes real tight
There will be no forgetting tonight
This is the moment of my demise
Take my heart here, wrapped in velvet
I don't need it anymore
Talk it's cheap but I know you're listening
I don't want to feel anymore
Sinking like a pirate on a sea-grave ship of fools
You know I'm a fool for you
I'm a fool for you (x2)
Brainwash my head
To clear away all the lies
That I've been forced and fed
What could have been?
What could it be?
That you saw inside of me
That you would ever give me your love
Everybody's singing now!
All these days fade into gray
As this dying love decays
Inside this cold lobotomy
No brain activity
I'll turn to stone if I look your way
I can't look away
The sun won't shine a single ray
Don't you think I'm jealous
Don't you think I'm bad
Just a sort of prostitution
But behind the smile I'm mad
Come and taste my freedom
Revolution in my head
No one could stand up to me
Take me to the brainwash company
All my thoughts are waiting to be free
Shut up, don't be jealous
Don't feel sorry for mankind
Shut up, don't be funny
