A fiercely debated, nine-year investigation into Ireland's Roman Catholic-run institutions says priests and nuns terrorized thousands of boys and girls in workhouse-style schools for decades _ and government inspectors failed to stop the chronic beatings, rapes and humiliation. High Court Justice Sean Ryan on Wednesday unveiled the 2,600-page final report of Ireland's Commission to Inquire Into Child Abuse, which is based on testimony from thousands of former students and officials from more than 250 church-run institutions.

On Sunday, a referendum was finally held by the breakaway Donetsk People\'s Republic in eastern Ukraine on whether to declare independence. Polling stations were set up all over the city. With no independent monitors present, the DPR used locals to ensure that the vote was free and fair — a provision that hardly inspired confidence.

VICE News correspondent Henry Langston visited Donetsk to witness the ballot and ask people what they were voting for, but he and his crew quickly ran afoul of masked gunmen who were patrolling the station. They forced the crew inside the occupied administration building, where they were detained, searched, and interrogated for three hours before being allowed to leave. The experience offered some indication of what press freedom in the DPR would look like should it ever become independent.

Preliminary results announced around midnight showed a voter turnout of 74 percent, of which 89 percent voted yes. While seemingly suspect, the results were cheered by the DPR, which declared itself an independent state on Monday. But people are unsure of what the future holds for the separatist ambitions of Donetsk and Luhansk. Just last month, a poll showed that only 18 percent of people in eastern Ukraine wanted independence. With the Ukrainian government refusing to recognize the referendum and Russia backing its result, the next few days could prove pivotal for the entire region.

Bodies Of 800 Babies Found In Septic Tank In Ireland

Outrage over the reported discovery of the bodies of almost 800 children at a former home for unmarried mothers run by nuns in Ireland prompted calls Wednesday for a full investigation.
The children whose remains have apparently been found in Tuam, in County Galway, are believed to have died between 1925 and 1961, according to local media reports.
The grim discovery was highlighted in a front-page report in the Irish Mail on Sunday, which cited the efforts of local historian Catherine Corless to research the burial sites of 796 children listed as having died at the home, which was run by the Sisters of Bon Secours.
According to the newspaper, Corless believes their remains are all buried in the unmarked mass grave next to the place where the home once stood. Local children stumbled upon the grave in the 1970s, local media reported, but the site was never examined afterward.

Special Transmiison on Altaf hussain arrested in lodon
Wasim baddami - Kashif Abbasi ,Mubashar Lucman

The leader of Pakistan\'s MQM party, Altaf Hussain, has been arrested in London on suspicion of money laundering. The development has raised concern of violent backlash in his home base of Karachi.
Scotland Yard confirmed that a 60 year old British-Pakistani man was arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

The arrest took place this morning at a North West London property where police had earlier recovered £250,000.

In a statement Scotland Yard said officers were at present searching the address and they were not ready to discuss any further details at this stage.
The BBC quoting Altaf Hussain\'s party reported that the MQM leader had been arrested in London.

According to Geo News London correspondent Muratza Ali Shah, the MQM chief has been taken to the central London police station and Scotland Yard said it would announce its decision to either charge or release him on bail after the questioning is overS.

Police would not confirm Hussain\'s arrest on Tuesday, saying only a 60-year-old man had been detained at his residence in north London. British police do not name suspects until they are charged. However, a spokesman from MQM head quarters in London confirmed the party leader had been taken into custody.
Hussain heads the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, or MQM, one of Pakistan\'s major political parties which has its powerbase in the restive city of Karachi. He is wanted in his home country in relation to a murder case and remains one of Pakistan\'s most divisive and controversial figures. Hussain has lived in self-imposed exile in Britain since 1992, but regularly addresses large gatherings in Pakistan by telephone and is known for his rousing speeches.
News of the arrest aired on Pakistani television shocked Karachi, the country\'s most-populous city and economic hub. Residents closed businesses, rushed to stock up on groceries and fled home fearing prolonged riots. The Karachi Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost more than 400 points immediately following the news.
Karachi police increased security in the diplomatic neighborhood of the upmarket Clifton area, particularly around the British embassy, which closed temporarily.

Beijing beefs up security around Tiananmen Square ahead of the sensitive 25th anniversary of the June 4th, 1989, crackdown on student-lead protests.

Full story:

Beijing tightened security around Tiananmen Square on Tuesday (June 3), one day ahead of the 25th anniversary of the June 4th, 1989, crackdown on student-lead protests.

Dozens of riot police and police vehicles were seen parked around the square.

Activists and commentators said China\'s determination to snuff out any mention of the event is especially strong this year.

For the first time in recent memory, authorities have charged people for commemorating the Tiananmen crackdown privately in a home.

Early last month, 15 people went to a Beijing apartment to mark the 25th anniversary. Among them were scholars, a prominent Chinese human rights lawyer, writers and the mother of a student who was killed by soldiers.

A few days later, five were in police detention after a photograph of the gathering circulated on the Internet. They were charged with \

The rate cut by the European Central Bank on Thursday did not surprise the market. But reducing the deposit rate to -0.1% proves that the economic recovery in the euro zone is not as strong as investors once thought. To a large extent, Europe's slowing recovery was driven by weakening external factors and domestic demand in France. But while countries like Germany have seen moderate expansion in economic activity since the second half of 2013, France has been a laggard with manufacturing PMI still below 40 for three years running. http://www.forbes.com/sites/kenrapoza/2014/06/05/ecb-proves-europe-far-from-recovery/ http://www.wochit.com

Subscribe to VICE News here: http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-VICE-News On Sunday, a referendum was finally held by the breakaway Donetsk People's Republic in eastern Ukraine on whether to declare independence. G7 leaders warn Russia of fresh sanctions over Ukraine
  • Order:

  • Updated: 05 Jun 2014
Leaders of the G7 industrial nations meeting in Brussels say they are prepared to impose further sanctions on Russia over its actions in Ukraine. A joint statement condemned Moscow for its "continuing violation" of Ukraine's sovereignty. The G7 summit is the first since Russia was expelled from the group following its annexation of Crimea in March. On Thursday, leaders are set to discuss the global economic outlook, climate change and development issues. Although Russian President Vladimir Putin is not at the Brussels summit, he will hold face-to-face talks with some G7 leaders - not including US President Barack Obama - in Paris afterwards. However, both Mr Putin and Mr Obama will attend a ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings in France on Friday. While in Poland on Wednesday, President Obama warned Moscow against what he called its "dark tactics" in Ukraine. Diplomacy has intensified to try to resolve the biggest crisis in years between Russia and the West, says the BBC's Chris Morris in Brussels. 'Further destabilisation' G7 leaders gathered in Brussels on Wednesday evening for the summit's opening dinner. "We are united in condemning the Russian Federation's continuing violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine," the leaders said in a joint statement. "We stand ready to intensify targeted sanctions and to consider meaningful additional restrictive measures to impose further costs on Russia should events so require." German Chancellor Angela Merkel told reporters: "We can't afford a further destabilisation of Ukraine." "We have made clear that we want to continue with our three-step approach - support Ukraine in economic issues, talks with Russia, and should there no progress on all those issues... the possibility of sanctions, tougher sanctions, remains on the table," she said. Earlier, UK Prime Minister David Cameron said he expected the G7 to send a clear message of support for Ukraine. The summit was originally to have been held in the Russian city of Sochi. Speaking in Warsaw to mark 25 years since the fall of communism in Poland, Mr Obama hailed Polish democracy as a beacon for neighbouring Ukraine. He also met Ukraine's President-elect Petro Poroshenko, and pledged support for plans to restore peace to the country.

Officials have warned people to stay inside and lock their doors. A police officer told the Associated Press news agency the search was concentrated around two streets. The two wounded Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, a police spokesman said. Police said they were still actively looking for the suspect. The picture tweeted showed a man in military camouflage carrying two rifles. In a statement, New Brunswick Premier David Alward said he was "shocked and saddened". "I would ask New Brunswickers, particularly in those areas identified by police, to follow the situation as it develops and to listen to the advice of police," he said. A Moncton resident told broadcaster CTV that she and her husband heard four or five shots. Heidi James said her husband looked outside the window and saw a "shot-out" vehicle and what looked like a body covered with a blanket. Syria Election: Bashar Assad WINS Syria presidential election with 88.7% of vote June 04, 2014 Bashar Assad has won a landslide victory in the Syrian presidential poll with 88.7 percent of the vote. This will secure him a third seven-year term in office amidst a bloody civil war, which stemmed from protests against his rule. "I declare the victory of Dr Bashar Hafez Assad as president of the Syrian Arab Republic with an absolute majority of the votes cast in the election," parliament speaker Mohammad Laham said in a televised address from his office in the Syrian parliament. A total of 10.2 million people voted for Assad. The voter turnout stood at 73.42 percent. No violations have been reported, Syria's Higher Judicial Committee for Elections said as quoted by SANA news agency. Syrian officials said the result was a vindication of Assad's three-year campaign against those fighting to get rid of him. This was the first multi-candidate presidential election in Syria for almost 50 years. The other two candidates for the top post were Hassan Abdullah Nouri, from the National Initiative for Administration and Change in Syria, and Maher Abd Al-Hafiz Hajjar, formerly from the People's Will Party. Despite the high turnout figures, residents of some areas in the country's north and east were obstructed from voting by rebel forces. The conflict in Syria has already killed 160,000 people and created nearly 3 million refugees, as well as displacing more people inside Syria. But while opposition groups inside Syria and most countries in the West have denounced the election as a sham, many Syrians are supporting President Assad and see him as the only option to return stability to the country. "This is our duty, we can't allow people from outside the country to decide for us. Our duty is to vote -- or order to protect our country," Usam Hammami, a resident in the capital Damascus, told RT's Maria Finoshina. Russia and Iran both supported the election and Assad himself has said that it is part of his efforts to meet the opposition's demands. -RT. Bodies Of 800 Babies Found In Septic Tank In Ireland Outrage over the reported discovery of the bodies of almost 800 children at a former home for unmarried mothers run by nuns in Ireland prompted calls Wednesday for a full investigation. Special Transmiison on Altaf hussain arrested in lodon Wasim baddami - Kashif Abbasi ,Mubashar Lucman The leader of Pakistan's MQM party, Altaf Hussain, has been arrested in London on suspicion of money laundering. The BBC quoting Altaf Hussain's party reported that the MQM leader had been arrested in London. According to Geo News London correspondent Muratza Ali Shah, the MQM chief has been taken to the central London police station and Scotland Yard said it would announce its decision to either charge or release him on bail after the questioning is overS. Police would not confirm Hussain's arrest on Tuesday, saying only a 60-year-old man had been detained at his residence in north London. British police do not name suspects until they are charged. However, a spokesman from MQM head quarters in London confirmed the party leader had been taken into custody. Hussain heads the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, or MQM, one of Pakistan's major political parties which has its powerbase in the restive city of Karachi. He is wanted in his home country in relation to a murder case and remains one of Pakistan's most divisive and controversial figures. Hussain has lived in self-imposed exile in Britain since 1992, but regularly addresses large gatherings in Pakistan by telephone and is known for his rousing speeches. News of the arrest aired on Pakistani television shocked Karachi, the country's most-populous city and economic hub. "We have tightened the security of the consulates, especially of the British," said city police chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo. The MQM was formed in 1984 and is supported by millions of Muslim Urdu-speaking people whose families migrated from India to Pakistan when the country was created in 1947. The party represents itself as a moderate, secular voice in the country's politics. Hussain's residence was raided by British police in 2012 and 2013 on suspicion of money laundering. dr/msh (AFP, AP, Reuters) Click Subscribe Button For Daily Update SubScribe For talk Shows :http://goo.gl/bz2MZb Follow on Google Plus :http://google.com/+JadootvTalkShows Subscribe Dramas Channel :http://goo.gl/7GkoIC Visit our Site :http://goo.gl/WDpPZq 2nd june 2014 We Upload Daily Talk Shows 40-50 Video Full Talk Shows Dnt Forget To SubScribe Visit our Site for Daily update Visit: http://goo.gl/EuBq3k SubScribe Please For Daily Talk Shows: http://goo.gl/eHexrK We Upload these Talk Show Below Monday To Friday Daily 2 june 2014 Kal tak with Javed Chaudary on Express Bolta Pakistan on Aaj news Capital Talk on Geo News Off the Record on Ary News Ab Tak On Ary News 11th Hour With Wasim Badami Kharra Sach with Mubashir Lucman Aaj Kamran Khan Ke Saath on Geo Geo News 9pm Bulletin Daily on the front With Kamran Shahid Nuqta e Nazar on Dunya News Top Story to the Point on Express News Tonight With Jasmeen on Abb Tak 8pm with Fareeha on waqt News jurm Bolta hai on Ary news Criminals Most Wanted Faisla awam ka News eye on Dawn News A Morning With Farah and Below Talk Show We Update friday to Sunday Khabar Naak on Geo News Hasb e Haal on Dunya news Full Fun With Azizi Aapas ki Baat with najam Seethi Sawal Yeh Hai with Dr Danish Sar e AAm full Crime Show on with Iqrar -ul-Hassan the Debate With Zaid Hamid on Din News live With Dr Shahid Masood on Jaag Tv Live With Talat on AAj News Tuc Lighter Side of Life With Maira Khan Pakistan idol On Geo Tv Inaam Ghar on Geo Tv Tonight With Moeed Pirzada Dnt Forget To SubScribe Click Link To SubScribe me http://goo.gl/eHexrK 30 May 2014 31 May 2014 3 june 2014 1st june 2014 2nd june 2014 4 june 2014 Altaf hussain arrested in london Altaf hussain arrested in london 3 june 2014 Altaf Hussain arrested Today in lodon 3 june 2014 Special Transmiison on Altaf hussain arrested in lodon Wasim baddami - Kashif Abbasi ,Mubashar Lucman Special Transmiison on Altaf hussain arrested in lodon Wasim baddami - Kashif Abbasi ,Mubashar Lucman

Security Tight Around Tiananmen Square Ahead Of 25th Anniversary Of Crackdown

Beijing beefs up security around Tiananmen Square ahead of the sensitive 25th anniversary of the June 4th, 1989, crackdown on student-lead protests. Full story: Beijing tightened security around Tiananmen Square on Tuesday (June 3), one day ahead of the 25th anniversary of the June 4th, 1989, crackdown on student-lead protests. Dozens of riot police and police vehicles were seen parked around the square. Activists and commentators said China's determination to snuff out any mention of the event is especially strong this year. They were charged with "causing a disturbance", a crime that carries a jail term of up to five years. Beijing-based independent historian and political commentator Zhang Lifan, who did not attend the meeting, said the government's crackdown this year has been unusually harsh. "In the past, the government handled these kinds of commemorative activities in a rather low-key way. But this year it's different. Their crackdown on these events is rather high profile. We have not seen this before," Zhang said. Zhang said the authorities have felt threatened. "I think this may be because the discontent within the country is intensifying, so they (officials) are worried this will create a domino effect and threaten the authorities' survival," Zhang said. Rights group Amnesty International said 48 people had been detained, placed under house arrest, questioned by police or had gone missing ahead of the anniversary. Police have also warned foreign reporters from visiting "sensitive places" and prevented them from interviewing people on the topic. The anniversary comes as China grapples with challenges such as slowing economic growth, dire pollution, endemic corruption and violence in the troubled western region of Xinjiang. Stoning to death of a couple in Afghanistan
Stoning to death of a couple in Afghanistan

  • Updated: 02 Mar 2011
The man and woman were accused of adultery in the district of Dashte Archi in Kunduz province last August. Hundreds of people attended the stoning but no-one was charged. The area is still under Taliban control. After viewing the footage, regional police chief Gen Daoud Daoud said those responsible could be recognised. "Special police investigators will be sent there, we will find them and they will be brought to justice," he told the BBC. A mobile phone recording of the killings has only just been seen by Afghan and Nato officials. Most of the video is too graphic to be shown. Soaked in blood The video begins with Siddqa, a 25-year-old woman, standing waist-deep in a hole in the ground. She is entirely hidden in a blue burka. Hundreds of men from the village are gathered as two mullahs pass sentence. As Taliban fighters look on, the sentence is passed and she is found guilty of adultery. The stoning lasts two minutes. Hundreds of rocks - some larger than a man's fist - are thrown at her head and body. She tries to crawl out of the hole, but is beaten back by the stones. A boulder is then thrown at her head, her burka is soaked in blood, and she collapses inside the hole. Incredibly Siddqa was still alive. The mullahs are heard saying she should be left alone. But a Taliban fighter steps forward with a rifle and she is shot three times. Then her lover, Khayyam, is brought to the crowd. His hands are tied behind his back. Before he is blindfolded he looks into the mobile phone camera. He appears defiant. The attack on him is even more ferocious. His body, lying face down, jerks as the rocks meet their target. He is heard to be crying, but is soon silent. The couple had earlier eloped to Pakistan, but were lured back with the false promise that they would not be harmed. Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid defended the sentencing. In a telephone interview he said: "Anyone who knows about Islam knows that stoning is in the Koran, and that it is Islamic law. "There are people who call it inhuman - but in doing so they insult the Prophet. They want to bring foreign thinking to this country." 'Fear and hatred' Nato's senior civilian representative, Mark Sedwill, said the Taliban had an "appalling" view of Islamic justice. But he said the Afghan government needed to improve the rule of law in the country. "Communities that are terrorised don't have choices... that's why we have to remove the Taliban in these communities," he said. "It is absolutely critical that the Afghan government competes head-on with the Taliban in this area - the rule of law - so that people don't face the kind of choice that this community faced." Ahmed Nader Nadery, of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission, watched the video in full. He said it brought back memories of when the Taliban ruled the country. "It not only reminded me of those days in Kabul and other parts of the country, but it created a feeling of fear, and of further hatred of this group. And a fear - what if they return," he said. Mr Nadery added: "The Afghan government and the international community have failed to deal with these grave crimes. It happened at a time when there was a debate about the future of the international community, and discussions of their timeline for leaving the country."
