Mirabella rattled by the indie from Indi

LIBERAL frontbencher Sophie Mirabella may be forced to withdraw from the campaign front line to focus on her seat in the face of a strong independent challenger.

The opposition industry spokeswoman's northern Victorian electorate of Indi has a deeply conservative history: it's been held by Labor for only seven years since it was first contested in 1901. But a groundswell of support for independent Cathy McGowan, a local rural affairs consultant, appears to have the Liberal campaign rattled.
