My Beautiful Strangers - Tokyo, Japan
Over the past year, I've come across so many interesting/cute/beautiful/unique/crazy Japanese people. I wanted to try to capture some of the wide range of personalities and styles that I've encountered here. I hope you can get a sense of how cool Japanese people are through this video. Alot of the footage I used was leftover from my first Tokyo video. There were still alot of shots that I wanted to use, but didn't have enough time to fit into that video, so you'll see a number of familiar faces from that one, but all of the shots here are new. I also combined it with shots from several festivals such as the Taiko Festival in Narita, St. Patty's Day in Harajuku, Sakura in Yoyogi Park, and a Brazilian Festival also in Harajuku. Enjoy!!!

Why Japanese people are shy 1
I am trying to explain why Japanese people are perceived as shy. Actually, the Japanese are not shy in the way you mean it in English. It is a byproduct of rapid modernization of Japanese society. It has been just 140 years since Japan ended its seclusion policy and got open to the world. 40 years later, it won the russian war, 70 years later it challenged against the US Yet, 100 years later, it rose as a economic superpower. The Japanese left behind the adaptation to modern social life.

Japanese people are NOT shy
★ ABOUT ME ★ NOTES ★ FOR THOSE WHO WERE CONFUSED Japanese definition of shy is they just don't talk to strangers on the train, in the sence of 'hi nice to meet you, blabalbla'. Thats rude. Thats weird most places in the world. Some random person gets on the train just to talk to you. In Japan its far less common in situations to engage. They don't do it NOT because they are shy about it, or embaresed, or have low confadence in doing it. But BECAUSE ITS RUDE! When meeting someone, non shy Japanese people meet normaly. When introduced to someone etc. Same as western countries. Exactly the same. BUT if the Japanese person is shy, they are shy just like western way, though Japan doesn't seem to have a word to discribe that situation. English shy are people who don't TALK to strangers as in (people they just met/students/shy around teachers) all those things. For example. I meet a group of friends at a party, I am introduced, but If I am shy, I will by shy when introduced and after introduced I will keep quiet, not talk. Japanese shy means quiet, as in not LOUD. I didn't mean quiet as in don't like to talk, I meant don't talk loud and abnoxiously such as western people will do. They are quiet and polite, caring about those around them. So thats where the confusion is. ~゚♡ABOUT ME・ 私のこと♡゚~ My name is MIRA I am a Canadian girl living in TOKYO JAPAN. I have been here since NOV 2011 I make videos ALL about Japan. Japan Answers 7: Do Japanese people eat dogs and cats?
I happened to to have the chance to talk to a Japanese butcher on camera so that I could settle the question once for all: Do Japanese people eat dogs and cats. If you have question about Japan please ask me on my channel. Transcript: May I take a video? Oh me?! Can I ask you a question? Sure. I'm making a video of this. Is dog meat or cat meat sold in Japan? No, it's not sold in Japan. We can't sell it in Japan. By law you can't sell it? In America you have the USDA and it's banned, right? It's the same in Japan. By law we can not sell dog and cat meat. But horse meat is okay, right? Yes, horse meat is sold in Japan. Horse meat is sold in Kyoto and Kumamoto. You can buy horse meat, wild boar and deer meat. You can buy dog meat in Korea. We can't sell it in Japan. How about a long time ago? I don't know. They say that during the war people ate dog meat back then. Yeah, I've heard of stories about that before. Me too, but I've never seen people eating dog meat here in Japan. Thank you.

Salmiakki + Japanese people = Hilarity ensues
What happens when you give Japanese university students some salmiakki aka salty liquorice? The answer: Hilarity ensues. en.wikipedia.org No Osaka Gakuin University students were harmed during the filming of this video (I hope). If you're interested about studying and living in Japan, you can read about it from my blog I used to write while staying in Osaka as an exchange student. This video was also filmed during that time. The blog can be found here (only in Finnish): osakajinjukke.blogspot.com *** If you have any questions concerning the blog send me a message in YouTube as I don't follow the comments in the blog anymore. How to Date Japanese Men (Their Voices)
An interview of nine college-aged Japanese guys about dating, including if they would be willing to date foreigners. :) Most of them are studying or have studied English, including majoring in the language, so their answers might be different from that of other Japanese men. And this is just for fun! Don't take it too seriously--as you can tell from the results everyone is different, just like men from anywhere else in the world. Jun's Kitchen (Our Other Channel) www.youtube.com The song is "Cerises - INSTRUMENTAL VERSION" by Löhstana David, off the album "Folk & Acoustic" and can be found here: www.jamendo.com The licensing information is here: creativecommons.org

Japan - The Strange Country (Japanese ver.)
This is my final thesis project. I created info-graphic, motion piece. My objective is to make Japanese people to think about that everything happening here in Japan, isn't that normal. So I created this video from foreigner's point of view, rather than Japanese people's point of view.
Both English and Japanese versions are available.
By the way, please don't call me racist, because I am one of short, small eyes Japanese.

I created this information graphic motion piece as my final thesis project. my objective is to make Japanese people think about what is happening in their own country, and that some aspects of Japanese culture are not that normal. The deliberate English narrationoffers a point of view on Japan that isn't usually considered by Japanese people, and therefore conveys a 'foreign' perspective.

The Group C Porsche 962 is an iconic race car to say the least. In the 80's it won countless Le Mans races and to this day holds a very special place in car enthusiasts hearts. One particular Japanese car enthusiast loves this car so much that he can't keep this race car restricted to circuit duties only. He feels the overwhelming need to spend much more time with it, on the streets!

How To Argue With Japanese People
Check Gakuranman's Blog Post here: gakuranman.com Also check Gakuranman's Japan Times Article here search.japantimes.co.jp One common area of trouble that westerners run into when interacting with Japanese is the different approach Japanese use when having arguments. This video showcases the typical western arguing style, what happens when you try applying it in Japan, and how Japanese would approach the same debate. It may seem silly but you'd be surprised at how much grief getting this stuff wrong can lead to. Many thanks to the contributors who helped on this, it was good fun putting it all together :) youtube.com youtube.com youtube.com (and feline friend) youtube.com Gimmeabonedog also teaches Japanese and English at maggiesensei.com And check out their new blog (opened today) at http Where a native Japanese speaking Maggie will answer any questions you might have. Japanese people are tall
Either that, or I'm just short. I'm about 5'6-5'7 by the way. So technically, this debunks the myth that the people of Japan are short. From what I can tell, their height averages to about 5'6-6'1 for the males. The women seem to be around 5'1-5'7.
