Sacraments 101: Penance (why we confess)
BustedHalo.com's fantastic introduction to the Sacraments series: Why do we have to confess our sins to a priest? Can't we just pray to God for forgiveness? If I sin but no one is affected then can I say, "no harm, no foul?" These questions and more are answered in this edition of "Sacraments 101," a web video series geared for those who'd like an introduction or refresher course on these important, tangible Catholic experiences of God. The Sacrament of Penance (aka Reconciliation) is one of the healing sacraments, and celebrates the loving embrace of God when we turn toward him and away form our sins. The Role of Sacramental Plants in Sustainable Communities in the Western Amazon
Google Tech Talk January 14, 2010 ABSTRACT Presented by Paulo Roberto Silva e Souza. The Amazon rainforest is an ancient and highly diverse ecosystem that provides essential benefits for our entire planet and everything that lives on it, breathes air and depends on water. This ecosystem is being destroyed and its existence is being threatened by unthinking greed in the form of cattle ranchers, the agriculture industry, logging, and the infrastructure required for these encroachments. The talk tells the stories of three communities living in the forest in sustainable ways as stewards with respect and emerging understanding of natures principles using the spiritual teachings transmitted through the use of sacramental plants: the Yawanawa tribe and the Santo Daime communities in Ceu do Mapia and Ceu do Mar. The common thread through the talk is the necessity for the social expansion of environmental consciousness and the ways that this can be facilitated in the minds and hearts of people living in the style of the Western World with its focus on acquisition and domination. Paulo Roberto Silva e Souza received his degree in psychology from the University Gama Filho in Rio de Janeiro and began his professional carrier as a psychologist at the Pinel Hospital Suicide Prevention Center and the Ana Freud Clinic and Health Center Saint Romain in Rio de Janeiro. In 1976 he had first experiences with Santo Daime in Amazonia and was initiated by Padrinho Sebastiao. In 1982 he founded ...

Sacraments 101: Eucharist (how we receive)
BustedHalo.com's fantastic introduction to the Sacraments series. Join Fr. Dave Dwyer, CSP, as he explains the do's and don'ts and rights and wrongs of receiving Communion... Should Catholics receive communion on the hand or on the tongue? And how exactly are we supposed to do that reverently? Is there any other acceptable response besides "Amen?" ...and what does "amen" mean anyway? These questions and more are answered in this edition of "Sacraments 101," a web video series geared for those who'd like an introduction or refresher course on these important, tangible Catholic experiences of God. The Church calls the Eucharist the "summit and source of our faith," so it would seem pretty important to understand the basics about receiving this sacrament when we go to Mass. Sacraments 101: Confirmation (why we're confirmed)
BustedHalo.com's fantastic introduction to the Sacraments series:Why do I have to get confirmed if I'm already baptized? How do I choose a sponsor as I prepare for confirmation? Why do I have the option to choose a new name? These questions and more are answered in this edition of "Sacraments 101," a web video series geared for those who'd like an introduction or refresher course on these important, tangible Catholic experiences of God. Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of initiation in the Catholic Church, with baptism and Eucharist. Think of it as a personal Pentecost, when we receive the tools we need for our spiritual journey — the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The Sacrament of Matrimony (USCCB)
All the sacraments involve God taking ordinary things and using them for his purposes and so we use things like water and oil, bread and wine. In the sacrament of marriage, we bring something very natural — the human body and human love. Featuring Msgr. John Zenz, of the archdiocese of Detroit.

Sacrament of Wilderness-Misheard Lyrics

The Sacrament of Holy Eucharist (USCCB)
The third and final sacrament of initiation goes by many names. Most commonly, we speak of the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist — sometimes we say Holy Communion or the Mass. The sacrament really encompasses many things. Featuring Msgr. John Zenz, of the archdiocese of Detroit.
