About Mom Congress
The History
After bringing mothers to capitol hill in 2017 and 2018 to pass critical maternal mental health legislation, 2020 Mom saw an opportunity to coordinate with other non-profit organizations on multiple issues facing mothers. In late 2018, 2020 Mom rebranded the capitol hill event as Mom Congress. In 2020 based on feedback from mothers who wanted to identify with the Mom Congress brand after an incredible 2019 conference, a membership option was created. And in 2020 and 2021, the annual conference and hill day was moved to virtual town halls and meetings with Congress. In 2022, the event was again hosted in DC in September and brought nearly 200 mothers together. In mid-2022, with the financial investment of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, our first director, Ebony Wrenn, was hired. In 2023, the event was focused on a hill day in DC, with advocacy and bill training being held virtually for the full network, including those unable to attend the DC event.
