Lyft Rev caught up with members of the Welcome.US CEO Council—a collective of 40 companies transforming the refugee resettlement system in the United States through private sector support. Since its inception in 2022, the Council has dedicated millions of dollars, technology products and services, and human hours toward supporting newcomers. While the private sector certainly can’t replace the public funds needed to solve the global displacement crisis, these companies are helping to fill the gaps when it comes to helping refugees make a living—and a life—in the U.S. In this piece, Maya Kosoff explores the driving factors for resettlement around transportation access, digital equity, and tech enablement and connectivity to bring solutions to the table, looking at examples from Goldman Sachs, ServiceNow, Lyft, HP, and Google.
