Board of Directors

Capstone Community Action is uniquely governed by a 12-member tripartite board of directors which comes from three diverse segments of the community:

  • Participant Sector
  • Private Sector
  • Public Sector

The Board is also equally representative of the three regions of Capstone’s Service territory:

  • Washington County

  • Lamoille County

  • Two Rivers (Orange County & Towns in surrounding counties)

Capstone’s board is responsible for agency direction, financial oversight, and policy.

POLICY COUNCIL

Policy Council is a group of Head Start and Early Head Start parents and community members who help lead and make decisions about their program in partnership with Capstone’s Board. Policy Council members are elected by the parents of children enrolled in the program. Parents often join the Policy Council after serving on a parent committee.

Why serve on the Policy Council? Children, parents, and the program benefit when parents take on leadership roles. Children learn more and experience healthier development at school and at home. Parents can become more confident, gain skills about community building and governance, and connect with other parents and staff. Program staff learn about the strengths, interests, and needs of the children, families, and community they serve.

Meetings are held in the evening monthly with mileage and child care reimbursement provided.
