Federal Professional Licensure and Certification Disclosure
Professional Licensure and Certification Disclosure: Federal regulations require Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science (MCCMS) to disclosure whether its programs meet U.S. jurisdictions’ educational requirements for licensure or certification.
Admission into, or completion of, MCCMS programs for professions that require licensure or certification does not guarantee that students will obtain a license or certificate. Licensure and certification requirements are set by agencies that are not controlled by or affiliated with MCCMS and these requirements can change at any time. Changes in requirements can impact a program's ability to meet educational requirements for licensure.
Students Responsibility: Students should review the specific academic requirements for licensure or certification in the occupation and state/territory in which they intend to practice. Many licensure boards have additional requirements beyond successful degree completion to obtain a license (including those related to practicum/internship as well as pre-qualifications for licensure such as the need for a criminal background check). It is the responsibility of students enrolled in programs designed to lead to licensure or certification to check with the relevant board(s) in their states/territories of residence and in the states/territories in which they intend to obtain a license or certification for the most recent information and requirements. MCCMS shall not be held liable if the student is unable to qualify for licensure or certification in any jurisdiction or cannot obtain a practicum/internship location.
34 CFR §668.43(a)(5)(v) Professional Licensure/Certification (PLC) Education Requirements Disclosure: The curricula for programs customarily leading to licensure at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science have been designed to meet the licensure/certification requirements in Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, or Wisconsin as well as to prepare students to apply for licensure exams in the States of Arizona, Florida, Minnesota, or Wisconsin.
At this time, MCCMS has not determined whether its programs meet other states’ or territories’ educational requirements for licensure and certification. Students planning to pursue licensure or certification in other states or territories are responsible for determining whether, if they complete a MCCMS program, they will meet their state’s or territory’s requirements for licensure or certification. This disclosure is made pursuant to 34 CFR §668.43(a)(5)(v) .
For further information: If you have questions regarding your program of interest, please contact the Program Director or the MCCMS Office of Continuous Accreditation, Licensure, and Compliance.
