Reading that BC's new speculation tax bill is "controversial". Everyone I talk to is glad people buying million dollar homes but declaring poverty level incomes will finally be formally asked the simple question: "Hey, where's that money coming from?"

Important new national anti-money laundering law amendments are in the federal Budget Implementation Act. Very good news, means a high chance they'll be law very soon.

I hear a report will compare BC car insurance to Alberta tomorrow. We've got big work ahead, but Alberta does too. Alberta insurers lobbying for 50%+ single year rate hikes to break even, and CEO says they won't even insure 40% of drivers there.

Why do I feel like, even after days of stories like this, we'll still be sitting in question period listening to the BC Liberals talking about the "fake" spec tax that does "nothing" to increase housing supply.

Pleasantly surprising unanimous vote in the legislature today to pass the free expression protecting "Protection of Public Participation Act". The new law will help BC Courts identify and stop SLAPP lawsuits targeting those who speak out on matters of public interest.
