    Reading that BC's new speculation tax bill is "controversial". Everyone I talk to is glad people buying million dollar homes but declaring poverty level incomes will finally be formally asked the simple question: "Hey, where's that money coming from?"

    This morning I joined and the Law Foundation of BC to announce an interim agreement with British Columbia's Association of Legal Aid Lawyers to avoid a withdrawal of service and set up a framework for a long term deal. Very happy news for everyone.

    I hear a report will compare BC car insurance to Alberta tomorrow. We've got big work ahead, but Alberta does too. Alberta insurers lobbying for 50%+ single year rate hikes to break even, and CEO says they won't even insure 40% of drivers there.

    Pleasantly surprising unanimous vote in the legislature today to pass the free expression protecting "Protection of Public Participation Act". The new law will help BC Courts identify and stop SLAPP lawsuits targeting those who speak out on matters of public interest.
