About LGBTQIA+ Health Education from The Fenway Institute

Optimizing quality health care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, asexual, and all sexual and gender minority (LGBTQIA+) people.

Since 2011, the National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center, part of The Fenway Institute, is specialized in providing national training and technical assistance (T/TA) for health care organizations in order to optimize access to quality health care for LGBTQIA+ populations across the country. Our program staff works with a national faculty of renowned experts to develop curricula that integrate the most current research evidence with clinical and administrative expertise and perspectives to highlight innovative models and promising practices in the field.

The National LGBTQIA+ Health Education Center provides content on topics such as LGBTQIA+ concepts and terminology, health disparities and unique challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ people, collecting sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) data, creating an affirming environment for patients and staff and more.

LGBTQIA+ Health Education from The Fenway Institute presents a set of free, CME activities, including videos, carefully selected to be featured on the AMA Ed Hub. This set of activities is tailored for healthcare professionals who seek to better support LGBTQIA+ people within their health care organizations. These activities help providers and care teams better understand how to advance health equity for LGBTQIA+ people, address and eliminate health disparities for LGBTQIA+ communities, optimize access to cost-effective health care for LGBTQIA+ people and improve health outcomes for LGBTQIA+ people. Topics include: transgender and gender diverse health, behavioral health care, social determinants of health, trauma-informed care, and care for people with intersex traits.
