The Office of Health Equity Advisory Committee
The Office of Health Equity Advisory Committee (OHE-AC) is integral in advancing the goals of the office and advises in the development and implementation of the OHE Strategic Plan. The OHE-AC is comprised of representatives from applicable state agencies and departments, local health departments, community-based organizations, and service providers working to advance health and mental health equity for vulnerable communities. The OHE-AC consists of a broad range of experts, advocates, clinicians, and consumers who understand the important issues of health and mental health disparities related to unserved and underrepresented communities. The OHE-AC works with the Health in All Policies (HiAP) Task Force, and stakeholders, to provide a forum to identify and address the complexities of health and mental health inequities and to identify interrelated and multisector strategies. Additionally, the OHE Advisory Committee consults regularly with the Office of Health Equity for input and updates on the policy recommendations, strategic plans, and status of cross-sectoral work.
Advisory Committee Application
On April 29, 2020 six new members were inducted to the Advisory Committee. The remaining eight vacant seats will be filled after the new Deputy Director, currently in recruitment, comes on board. Even though the next steps in filling the remaining vacant seats are yet to be defined, we accept advisory committee applications on a continuous basis. If you are interested in giving a voice to vulnerable communities, advocating for health and mental health equity, or addressing the social determinants of health, then the Office of Health Equity Advisory Committee is a great opportunity to share your passion, expertise, and lived experience.
