    younger voters aren't that engaged in politics. this means that they're likely more persuadable and you could swings in turnout. low engagement also means specific policy fights probably arent driving attitudes either direction.

    FWIW in Catalist's analysis of Virginia, Young Voters did swing against Democrats more than older voters.

    last thing id say on this topic is that though age polarization may decline we should be extremely skeptical that it will reverse. the polls have showed us this before and those polls were wrong

    I'm no expert but presumably that means the young voter crosstab is particularly sensitive to modeling and weighting decisions and random noise and any particularly unrepresentative nature of those people who do pick up the phone and push buttons for fifteen minutes.

    Deleted a tweet that misinterpreted this paragraph from the "Brahmin Left Versus Merchant Right" paper (). Homeowners do not, in fact, vote to the left of non-homeowners, in the way that union members vote to the left of nonunion members. Regret the error.

    (Rates of homeownership diverge widely between nations, and I believe that this is an aggregate measurement. So perhaps this partly reflects nation-level political differences? Finding doesn't make much sense to me but 🤷‍♂️)

    it's really striking how much left-nimby shit is just straight up repackaging of right wing nativism but justifying it by name checking marginalized communities. low and middle income people, lgbtq people and people of color do not benefit from exclusivity.

    That’s the Yimby vision isn’t it, “bring in new people.” That means push out many people who are here, many who’ve worked to make San Francisco what it is, many who are low and middle income, LGBTQ and people of color. Well, we won’t to be pushed out without fighting for our city

    I doubt that the U.S. could have preempted Russia's invasion of Ukraine by not doing shit like this. But it was clearly provocative and seemingly unnecessary; Poland is not in urgent need of protection from Iranian aggression.
