Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is a chronic infection that can cause liver damage and liver cancer. About 20,000 persons die from HCV each year. Hepatitis C is a preventable and curable disease. Learn how our IHS, Tribal and Urban Indian (I/T/U) primary care clinics are proving that hepatitis c is treatable in our own communities, by our own providers.

Natural Disasters – Get the Flyer
The Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board (NPAIHB) Environmental Public Health Program will consult with Tribes to identify the environmental health hazards associated with disasters, document and distribute lessons-learned on your responses to the disasters, and provide technical assistance on disasters. Tribes will incorporate traditional ecological knowledge in understanding the environmental health hazards associated with disasters.

Water and Well Funding – Get the Flyer
Funded applicants will build and strengthen the capacity of Tribes to identify, evaluate, and improve domestic well water safety programs. NPAIHB proposes to fund and train staff at three Tribes to identify all private drinking water wells, conduct screening sampling for contaminants, and perform risk assessments for improving wellhead protection.

We develop relationships with state offices and other agencies dealing with health matters to assure that tribal interests are taken into account as health policy is formulated.
