Vitamin C is an essential vitamin although the body does not store it, so a regular daily intake is required. Each delicious chewable Vitamin C tablet provides a convenient solution to keep the levels in your diet topped up, providing 500mg vitamin C alongside 16mg mixed citrus bioflavonoids.

Product Origins

The vitamin C in our Healthspan Elite tablet is a combination of sodium ascorbate and ascorbic acid. This allows us to deliver a higher dose without causing any stomach discomfort.

Sodium ascorbate is an alkaline (non-acidic) form of vitamin C whereby the vitamin is bound to the mineral salt sodium. The mineral salt buffers lower the acidity of ascorbic acid which means it may be easier to tolerate if your digestive system is sensitive to acid. As an additional benefit the buffered sodium ascorbate may also enter the blood stream at a steadier rate.

Our trusted partner manufactures sodium ascorbate by dissolving pharmaceutical grade ascorbic acid with sodium bicarbonate, derived from sea water. Sodium helps regulate the amount of water in the body and aids the movement of sodium into and out of cells, which plays a critical role in many bodily functions. The pH of sodium ascorbate is almost the same as your blood meaning it can be easily ingested without stressing the body.

Our ascorbic acid is created under state of the art laboratory conditions to create a pure and consistent form. Natural and synthetic ascorbic acid are chemically identical and as confirmed by numerous studies, there appears to be no clinically significant difference in the bioavailability and bioactivity of natural ascorbic acid and synthetic ascorbic acid.
