Each High Strength Vitamin D3 tablet contains our experts optimum recommendation of 25µg (1,000iu) of vitamin D3 in its natural form. Vitamin D3 is the form that is made in the human body and therefore the form that our experts insist on using.

Vitamin D is often referred to as the ‘sunshine vitamin’ as it is synthesised in the skin through exposure to sunlight.

Athletes, particularly those who train indoors, may be at risk of vitamin D deficiency. It is also important to maintain your vitamin D intake in the winter months when there are fewer hours of sunlight.

Emerging evidence has suggested that vitamin D plays an important role in an athlete’s health, training and performance.

The role the nutrient plays in the maintenance of normal bone health is widely known. It also provides support for the maintenance of the immune system, and in the maintenance of normal muscle function, both of which are essential for anyone who is wishing to maximise their training and performance.

Product Origins

The vitamin D in all our formulations is the naturally occurring D3 form (also known as cholecalciferol). Cholecalciferol is produced by processing 7-dehydrocholesterol which is extracted from the lanolin found in sheep's wool.

Lanolin is a waxy substance which helps protects the skin of sheep against rain and other environmental factors. It is extracted from wool grease and wool wax alcohols obtained from the cleaning of wool after the shearing of sheep. The lanolin is then purified which results in a substance called 7-dehydrocholesterol, the same precursor of vitamin D found in our skin. The 7-dehydrocholesterol is exposed to ultraviolet light, which replicates the chemical reaction occurring in our skin when we soak up sunlight. The final product is then stabilised on a powdered carrier to enable the manufacture of tablets.

The result of this extraction and purification process is a highly concentrated form of vitamin D3 which offers 99% purity and unparalleled quality.
