Sao Paulo was the destination for an initiative of the Brazilian Sailing Federation (CBVela) for the development of sports among the young.
Held at the Yacht Club Santo Amaro, in the Guarapiranga Dam, the 2015 Youth Cup decided the Brazilian team that will represent the country in the world Championship of International Sailing Federation (ISAF), in Langkawi, Malaysia, and the IV South American Beach Games, in Pimentel, in Peru, both in December.
A great event, with a record number of boats and more than 100 athletes from nine States competed in the Youth Cup. In the 29er class, Antonio Aranha and Alexander Essle were victorious. In the 420, first place went to Leonardo Lombardi and Rodrigo Luz. In the Hobie Cat 16 the title ended in the hands of Diogo Zabeu and Otavio Cardoso. Ricardo Luz in Laser Radial and Filipe Fracioli on RS: X took their respective titles.
In 2015, CBVela has invested in Youth Sailing three times the investment made in 2014 with emphasis in ten youth clinics, in various classes and in five different States (Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Bahia) and in the Federal District, providing an unprecedented plurality of actions for youth sailing.
