Introduction

RYA Practical Courses – Power Boating

From our base in Jolly Harbour Marina, Antigua, we offer both the RYA Power Boat Level 1 and Level 2 courses. This is an ideal location for teaching the basics of controlling and skippering a small RIB or Sports Boat, with Level 2 providing the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (ICC).

RYA Practical Courses – Sailing

Learning to sail is a combination of theoretical knowledge, practical ability and gaining experience on the water. The RYA Sail Cruising & Yachtmaster Scheme, through its range of globally recognised certified courses, provides the first two elements; at Miramar Sailing School we provide all three.

Theoretical knowledge is gained through Shore Based courses. These are important before one puts to sea to practice, and we strongly recommend they are undertaken in order to get the maximum benefit from a Practical course. However, there is no obligation to do so. Safety is paramount and this is a corner stone of the RYA Scheme that is emphasized at every level of training – Shore Based and Practical.

Everyone’s sailing experience is different, and some knowledge may have been gained along the way. Only you know your abilities and what you need to learn. We can only advise, from the information you provide, to guide you to the Practical course that is best suited to your experience to date.
