Get Trained
The RYA has over 2200 recognised training centres dotted around the UK and overseas, teaching small boat sailing, windsurfing, power boating, sail and motor cruising, personal watercraft and inland waterways.
Royal Yachting Association (RYA) training programmes operate around the world, from Skye to Sydney allowing you to train wherever and whenever you want. RYA qualifications are known and respected the world over and never stop developing to take into account the dynamic world of boating.
Courses are run at RYA recognised training centres and also at affiliated clubs for their members. ‘RYA recognised’, ensures that the levels of tuition and safety afloat for RYA courses are inspected annually.
Often clubs and centres have boats to hire or charter after you have been trained and whilst the RYA does not inspect these, there are often National Standards to which the centres need to adhere.
BMF Leisure Boating (BMFLB) is the trade association that represents the marine Training, Charter and Holiday industry. Have a look at the BMF Leisure Boating website to find out what they have to offer.
If you have ever fancied sailing on a large ship and learning the ropes, the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO) have many opportunities to get you involved.
