Young people from all over the UK are gearing up for an exciting challenge this summer as they countdown to the start of the Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta, which takes place from 28 August to 9 September 2014.
Over 280 young people from a wide range of backgrounds will be sailing under the banner of the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO), the UK's Sail Training umbrella organisation.
Nearly half of the 47 Sail Training vessels from around the world lining up to sail in the regatta, organised by Sail Training International, are ASTO members. At least half of the crew on board each vessel will be under 25.
ASTO has 18 member vessels from all over the British Isles taking part including Scotland, Wales, East Anglia and the South of England.

Sailing Charity's Five Ferries Challenge
On what must have seemed like the hottest day on record, Saturday 31st May, 26 cyclists took part in a Five Ferries Challenge to raise funds for Ocean Youth Trust Scotland.
The five ferries in question are those linking the mainland to Arran, Kintyre, Cowal and Bute and the challenge is to link them all up in one day by completing the 52 land miles in between by bike.
OYT Scotland's four sail training vessels are well-kent in these local waters and sailed regularly by some 150 staff and volunteers to provide adventure under sail for hundreds of young people, some of whom jumped up in the saddle for Saturday's fundraiser.
The event began with the 9.45am crossing from Ardrossan to Arran. With the gang plank down, they were straight off to tackle the first 14 miles cycling to Lochranza.

Scotland's Minister for Children and Young People boarded The Prince's Trust's unique schooner, Spirit, and Ocean Youth Trust Scotland's volunteer training yacht, Alba Volunteer, to find out how the two charities are using Sail Training to change young lives.
Aileen Campbell MSP joined young people who have completed voyages on Spirit, through sail training programmes run by The Prince's Trust and Ocean Youth Trust Scotland, as well as young people supported by other Prince's Trust programmes, to hear their experiences of overcoming challenges and moving into jobs and education.
Her visit came as Spirit embarks on a busy sailing season, when the schooner will make around 30 voyages this year, giving more than 250 young people a unique experience and the chance to learn new skills and grow in confidence.
