Personal Watercraft (PW) or jet skis, as they are commonly known, are versatile, fun and exhilarating. Delivering high speed and fast acceleration, a PW will provide you with a real adrenaline rush and guarantees a day out full of excitement. If you want to buzz around the coast or reservoirs whilst experiencing the thrill of a high performance machine then a PW could be for you. With some good tuition it is easy to get out on the water for the first time providing a great introduction to the world of water sports.

Try out on the water
There are many RYA Training Centres and hire companies in the UK and abroad that hire out PWs, making it easy to try one out for the first time.
Starter courses
The RYA’s one day Personal Watercraft course teaches you how to use a PW safely, responsibly and with confidence. It is the best introduction there is for novice PW users.
What you'll need
When starting out you will require minimal kit as the hire company will supply all the safety kit. All you will need is swimming shorts, T-shirt, sunglasses, sun block and a towel.
Find a club
Joining a club is a great way to become fully involved with the many events that are organised throughout the year. Clubs welcome new members and will offer good advice to novices.
Where to buy
All the clothing and kit that you will require can be bought from various water sports shops, online mail order companies and club magazines noticeboards and websites.
