ESTAUGH and ROWLEY went into the final day needing to finish ninth or better in either of the days races to be guaranteed the title. And this they achieved in the first race of the day, taking fifth place meaning they could sit out the final race. The bullet in race nine went to Zahid RAUF and Rana WAQAS (PAK) with third going to their countrymen Mamoon SADIQ and Abdul HAMEED.
It was not enough however for RAUF and WAQAS and they had to settle for third overall after finishing 12 in the final race. Mamoon SADIQ and Abdul HAMEED (PAK) picked up the silver medal as their cushion going into the final day was good enough and they discard their 15 from the final race.
Jeremy STEPHENS and Matt JOHNSON (GBR) finished fourth with the Indian team of Naresh YADAV and C MURGAN rounding out the top five.
There was a strong competition for the Ladies Trophy between Anne JACKSON, Jane SCUTT and Alice ALLEN. Going into the last two races, Alice and Anne were on 101 and 102 respectively. Eventually, Anne came out on top with 138 points and has taken the Ladies' Trophy.
The 2006 Worlds will be held in Looe, Cornwall, Great Britain from 29 July-4 August.
