Installation Instructions:
- Download the windguru_winmobile.cab file from your phone and save locally. Tip: Sometimes it is easier to email yourself the hyperlink and click it from within your email program (http://www.windguru.cz/downloads/winmobile/windguru_winmobile_1.3.cab)
- Touch Screen support only for the moment however if there is sufficient demand it can be extended to support non-touch screen devices.
- On your phone, choose Start / File Explorer.
- Navigate to the location you saved the installation file.
- Select the file – it should start to install.
- Choose "yes" to install an application from an un-trusted publisher.
- If asked, select either the Device or Storage Card for installation – wherever you have the most space.
Latest .NET Compact Framework:
You may receive a message saying you need a newer version of the .NET Compact Framework. If this is the case then you need to get a copy of the NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab installation file. This can be done by following any of the following 3 methods:
- Following the installation instructions provided by Microsoft, although this is more complicated than the next option.
- The easiest approach is to download the file directly, details are available here
- If the above two options don't work, search for NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab in your favourite search engine and find a link to installation instructions.
We are unable to provide a link to the download directly as we are not licensed to distribute the software.
Testing:
The application has been tested on a HTC HD2 however it is known to work on other touch devices. If you successfully run it on another device, please let us know so we can include it in the list.
Known issues:
You may get an "Unable to read data from the transport connection. Unknown error (0x0)" error even when your data connection is active and strong.
This appears to be a problem with the Microsoft Compact Framework dropping packets when connecting to the type of web server that Windguru uses. This issue is under investigation. If you encounter the error, you can usually just attempt the action again and it will typically be successful.
