RS Classes Southern Championships

The RS Classes Southern Championships are taking place at HISC this weekend. Overnight leaders: RS100 Neal Freeman, RS200 Edd Whitehead and Alice Kingsnorth of Parkstone YC, RS300 Steve Bolland of Bristol Corinthian YC, RS400 Jon Gorringe and Nicki Bass of Parkstone YC, RS500 Jane Olive and Chris Tuckett, RS700 Neil Ashby of Shoreham SC and in the RS800 class Hugh Shone and Hannah and Tattersall of Castlecoves SC . . . more . . .

Optimist Open Meeting

The Harbour Chandlers Optimist Open Regatta will take place at HISC on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 June . . . NOTE: Entry limit for the Regatta fleet has been raised to 40 boats and main fleet 75 . . . On-Line Entry for the event is now closed . . . Entries after 28 May will be by phone and will carry a surcharge of £10 . . . more . . .

HISC 2014 Youth Open Race Week

The HISC 2014 Youth Open Race Week in August is now accepting entries for this popular event with competitive open racing in all junior and youth classes. Entry will close on 31 July . . . more . . .

Pursuit Race in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Trust

Vice Commodore Sailing, Greg Lamb presents the cheque for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, following the Pursuit Race held on the 26 May at HISC . . . Another thank you to everyone concerned. Greg presented a much appreciated cheque for £535, which has been sent off to Cystic Fibrosis Trust HQ,and the raffle/donations came to £147 ( paid into Virgingiving). HISC at RS700 Europeans

Simon Letten of Hayling Island SC won the 2014 RS700 European Championship hosted at Aquavitesse, Holland last weekend. Ian Swann finished sixth and David Smithwhite eighth.

HISC’s Get Racing Club

The third edition of HISC’s Get Racing Club confirmed what an amazing opportunity has been created for members who are keen to experience racing for the first time and learn new skills and vital tips from the club experts in a fun and relaxed format . . . Sundowner Series - Thursday evenings 15 May to 26 June

This season the Sundowner six race, PY Handicap, series for cruisers will run on Thursday evenings from 15 May until 26 June, with each race starting from the Club East line at 19:00 hrs . . . All yachts whatever their size and however racy or not, are welcome to enter. The Portsmouth Yardstick handicapping system will be used, and handicaps maybe adjusted through the series to allow all boats a fair chance of success . . . more . . .
