GP14 Worlds Gate Start Practice
To prepare for the GP14 World Championships in August, the club will hold a Gate Start Practice event on the weekend of June 7 - 8, commencing after the last start for the Ardglass Race at 13:00 on June 7. Club RIB drivers, dinghy sailors and visiting GP14s are welcome. See here for more details.

EDYC GP14 Sailors at Swords
The first Irish GP14 event of the 2014 season was the Riocard O'Tiarnaigh Challenge held at Swords Sailing Club on the 26th and 27th April.
Congratulations to EDYC members Graeme & Rebecca who came 3rd and Simon & Rebecca who came 7th in a fleet of 21 boats.

SeaGen Crossbeam raised

New Notice to Mariners dated 01/05/2014
The crossbeam will be raised for inspection and maintenance work on Thursday 1 May 2014. It is expected that the crossbeam will be raised for a period of 30 days.
When the crossbeam is raised it is a 43m wide obstruction in the Strangford Narrows at a height of 5.9m from chart datum. For safety, it is requested that all craft keep a safe distance of at least 50m from the SeaGen pile whilst the crossbeam is raised. Vessel operators are respectfully requested to set an appropriate course at the earliest opportunity.

Pilotage in the entrance of Strangford Lough
Following a survey of the entrance to Strangford Lough many hitherto uncharted rocks have been located and many known ones revised shallower. The Irish Cruising Club consider these changes to be so significant that they have revised their Strangford Lough entrance Sailing Directions.
Members are advised to read these revised Sailing Directions if they intend to enter or exit the Lough.
