Macbeth Reviews
I ordered these shoes and wore them for a couple months and the sole started to rip away from the shoe near the heel. Living in New York, I probably walk more than most people, so if you aren't putting a lot of miles on them they will probably last significantly longer. I like how they look, I just wished they were more durable.
Love these shoes. They were comfortable right out of the box, and I've walked quite a bit in them with no problems. They've quickly become my favorite pair of shoes. I had to order a full size up because my foot is a little wide.
The shoes are really comfortable. The sizing is very good. Only problem is that they don't have much of a heel so my feet slip out a little when I walk. Get the right size, and you'll be fine. They look really great- I've gotten complements on them. Overall, I am extremely pleased. At their price, it's quite a steal. I will definitely by their product again in the future.
I have had this shoe for a week, worn it three times and the seam ontop of the toe ripped open, exposing my foot.
These shoes are comfortable for everyday use. But make sure you break them in before you go on any lengthy walk.
I initially got these shoes because they have a slim profile that conforms to the shape of your feet, rather than the bulky style that is so prevalent in casual footwear. These have a feel similar to Adidas Sambas. It should be noted that the material around the Macbeth logo on the side is actually a nylon material, and has some shine to it, which I did not detect in the image when I purchased it -- this is not a deal-breaker, but you should just be aware; it kind of surprised me a bit. I'm about a month in from having these, and I have not seen any notable fatigue on the soles or anywhere else -- they seem to be holding up well, so far. All in all, I would say I am very satisfied with these shoes -- they are comfortable, style is right on point, and so far the quality is holding up. I have since purchased another pair so I have another color scheme to switch between. I guess that should say it all. Highly recommend!
I've owned a pair of these and loved them. The bottoms never fell apart for me and I'm usually hard on shoes. This shoe is great!
Their best feature is that they're very stylish, honestly I've gotten more compliments on this pair than any other shoe I've owned. They're kind of a dress shoe sneaker, which also means they're a little thinner soled than most other sneakers. After a day, maybe two, of breaking them in they have been very comfortable, but I wouldn't recommend wearing them every single day or your feet might hurt a little - I speak from experience.
I bought these at a vegan shoe store in Cambridge, MA. They are very comfortable. The sole is much better than minimal sneakers with thin soles (think original Converse or Vans). I've had these exact pair for about two months and no issues at all. The white sides will get dirty but they clean real easy. No tears anywhere so far!
I was a bit skeptical about the shoe at first, but after about a week they broke in and were very comfortable. The heel felt a bit wide, but after a while it wasn't noticeable. Also the laces were a bit long. Overall a really good shoe.
I own another pair of Macbeths and they are great; however, these shoes were terrible. There are no real soles (compared to the Macbeth designs) and the soles fell apart after one wear!
As stated in other reviews, the Brighton style is weak in the actual construction in the shoe. The rubber sole began to separate from the bottom only after a few weeks. But a little bit of Gorilla Glue goes a long way (4 years actually). Other than that, these are one of my favorite shoes. I have had the same pair since 2009 and they're still comfortable. I plan on buying another pair soon.
I got these specifically because they were vegan. I'm really trying to live the lifestyle to the fullest extent. Length: I wear a size 12 dress shoe and size 13 was good for me. Width: Nice and wide! This is usually a problem for me and I like to order EE sizes when possible. The Langley is a perfect width for me. Support: "Excellent arch support" to me means a little too much. But after wearing them for only a few hours they flattened out to a very comfortable state. Overall an excellent shoe, although I would prefer less branding and certified sweatshop-free production. You can't have it all though.
Shoe looks good, though it's definitely puffier than it appears in the pictures. Nice that it's vegan. My main complaint is the quality. I wore this shoe less than ten times, no more than a few hours at a time, before the sole started to separate from the rest of the shoe. And right out of the box, the shoe was uncomfortable. Basically no support, no padding. Insoles helped with the comfort issue, but they won't stop the shoes from falling apart. Seventy dollars is way too much to spend for sneakers that are so poorly made.
These shoes are great and are a good price. You are getting exactly what you paid for. These shoes have great style and are pretty comfortable. The sad thing is the sole started detaching at the tip. The detaching was not that bad, and Liquid Nails (it is a glue) did help, and I still wear them.
Great look despite the slightly red tint to the brown of the shoe. The leather doesn't exactly feel premium but at this price I don't expect that. Value-wise these shoes are great and I appreciate the appearance. As a note, they come with three pairs of laces blue on them, red in the box, and leather laces in the box.
These are cool looking shoes, and that's the reason I didn't return them. The first couple days have been pretty rough, but I think they're getting broken in. But check this out: they come with a weird foam insert in the heel, under the insole. it's about a 1/2" high riser that runs from the heel to some arbitrary point forward. that riser would give arch support if it extended further on the inside. however, it kinda ends halfway through the arch, but then tries to provide "support" on the outside of the foot. The result is that it feels like you have your socks wadded up or like you're smuggling something in your shoe. It's super uncomfortable. I bit the bullet and pulled the insert out -- it was just intolerable. I don't see how anybody has come away saying these shoes are comfortable. But once you slap the insole back in and lace them up nice n' tight, they do match the anatomy of an actual foot a little better. Regardless of the weird heel ramp and they feel a little baggy in the toes and on the sides BUT are tight in the toe-to-toe width. Great contact with the ground. Good flexibility. I practice tai chi, and once these finally get broken in, they'll work fine. They're starting to get comfortable for walking in. A thought: What's up with the "vegan" marketing for canvas shoes? That's like saying a carrot is gluten-free. I think they're sharp looking, but won't be buying them again.
I don't know whose feet these are designed for, but sure as shootin' not mine. They were super uncomfortable out of the box and I almost returned them. They felt like my socks were wadded up or like I had a hankie wadded up in the middle of my foot. I took out the insole and found that there was this little 1/2" foam insert glued into the heel and it made a ramp down to the middle of the foot. So there was a little attempt at padding the heel and making arch support. Problem was, the foam wasn't cut in a foot shape, just straight across. So ultimately, there was also some "support" on the outside of my foot. It was definitely going to be a problem. It felt awful. I made a decision: rip out the foam ramp. Now they fit okay, but are tight in some places and loose in others. They look fly. No doubt about it. I hope that I can break them in. I am not at all sorry I ripped out those foam deals in the heels. They sucked.
I got these to replace my Macbeth vegan shoes I've had since last year. After about 1 year exactly they are just now beginning to show signs of wear. Naturally, I decided to get a new pair for this summer. They are well made and comfortable after a few days of breaking them in. As others have mentioned you will probably want to order a size smaller than you usually wear. I usually wear a size 11 but 11 was too big. I exchanged them with no problems for size 10 and they fit nicely.
Really comfortable everyday shoe. I've taken them hiking and to the beach (just the sand, though). They are usable in those areas, but probably shouldn't be used for that kind of activity regularly. An amazing everyday shoe.
