Frequently asked questions for Imray digital charts

Using IDC question:

Why is my mouse jumping around when I try to use IDC?

Answer:

You probably booted your computer with the GPS connected to a serial port on your computer.

Microsoft Windows TM will automatically detect a GPS connected to a serial port as a serial mouse. Always ensure that your GPS is only connected to a serial port after Windows has booted up.

Alternatively you can disable the serial mouse. Only do this if you are NOT using a serial mouse, or if your mouse won't work.

To disable the mouse:

1). Click "Start", select "Settings -> Control Panel".
2). From within the "Control panel", double-click on the "System" icon.
3). Click on the "Hardware" tab from within the "System Properties" window.
4). Click on the "Device Manager" button.
5). From within the "Device Manager" window search through the list of devices until you find "Mice and other pointing devices".
6). Click on the cross to expand the list of pointing devices installed.
7). Right-click on "Serial Mouse" and select "Disable" from the list of menu items.
8). The serial mouse should now be disabled.
