For me, it's definitely Kubo; but I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks!
I’ve tried a few things but they never really stuck and I was wondering if y’all had advice for a simplified puppet
I think it could of been cute if we got comics or a tv show with the characters. Like they could of just made it a gravity falls rip off and her town has a bunch of other monsters like the beldam. and it wouldnt have to be canon since it wouldnt even be a big movie sequel.
Found a couple bad ones out there but nothing screen accurate.
For those of you who don’t know, Will Vinton Studios was founded in 1975 and was known for coining the term “claymation. The studio created a plethora of stop-motion work, famously in advertising, which includes the California Raisins, The Noid, and the M&M’s. Travis and Phil Knight acquired the studio after a court battle with Will Vinton in 2002, and in 2004 rebranded the studio as Laika, the one we now know today. (ClayDream is an excellent documentary which covers it.)
With that, however, Laika doesn’t acknowledge any of their history or catalog pre-2005, with nothing getting any official releases since 2003. I have to wonder if there’s any particular reason for this since it seems odd to ignore a very rich 30-year history of stop-motion and just sit on an entire library of content.
I know that the at the Museum of Pop Culture in Seattle is closing on August 11th, but does anyone know if it'll be moving to another museum afterwards? I never got to see it, and would be totally bummed if they ended it permanently and didn't open it elsewhere.
Theory 1)
Coraline was never actually alive throughout the whole movie. When moving to the house, they explain that they got into a car accident. Coraline died in the car accident and everyone else in the neighborhood was already dead. this explains the pale skin and why mr. bobinsky is blue from chernobyl. he died during chernobyl. the houses in the neighborhood in “the real world are all empty with boxes and spiderwebs. this is showing that the houses haven’t been used for years and are most likely abandoned. this is also why there are so many bugs around. when coraline first runs into wybie, he is wearing a skull face mask. this could resemble the grim reaper or other signs of death. wybie is not actually coraline friend and is actually helping the bedlam. the bedlam’s world can be part of the after life. this is why she is trying to trick coraline into staying there which means when she sees buttons into her eyes she has given into a place like hell and will be trapped there for eternity. at the end of the movie, they have a “party with lemonade and a garden full of flowers but really that just resembles the funeral for coraline and her family from the car crash.
Theory 2)
Coraline parents were abusive to her. coral ones parents never payed attention to her and never wanted to be around her. therefore, when she gets to the other world, she is shown love and care the whole time she is there. in the other world coraline is living the life she wish she had. i do not remember much evidence i came up with for this theory so sorry it is so short.
I know it’s a long shot but does anyone have a Scotty dog from Coraline that they are willing to sell? I’ve been looking for a while now with no luck 🥲
